This quest is initiated by examining "Holey Hide Boots". This item has been confirmed to drop off Fallen Guardians and Crusaders, as well as Brittle Skeletons in Commonlands.
You need to gather a big patch of elephant hides. These can drop off any elephant in the Commonlands.
The next step asks you to kill 10 Dervish Cutthroats in the Commonlands. After doing this you should examine the boots again.
You will then be asked to swim around Pride Lake in the Commonlands. This is the lake up in the north surrounded by rhinos and lions, southeast of Nektulos Station. This will soak the boots. Examine them one more time for your reward.

Very easy quest, even for a new player like myself. The hides are an uncommon drop off any elephant it would seem (took about 8 or 9 for me). EVERY dervish cutthroat drops a cord, but it has to be a dervish of the cutthroat variety (I was killing the level 15 ones). Assasins, zealots, etc do NOT drop the cords. The lake that you soak the boots in is close by the dervs. I did the dervish insignia ring quest at the same time and killed two birds with one stone.

i guess i got lucky cause it took me about 15 elephants and 12 cutthroats. yay for me

It took me also awhile to get the elephant peices to drop, and about the same for the dervish peice. So probably about a total hour invested in killing, which sucks at lvl 20 but I guess you can sell them!

well the quest seems to work just fine now almost every ele drops the hide and killing 10 dervish dose do the trick to i got the 1 cord you need after killing about 10 only thing left is takeing a swim in the lake

Cant get the elephant part...I have killed at least 20 today alone. I give up!!

I completed this today and kept track. 195 dervs was my total to get all 10 cords. Nothing says fun like killing greys for 2 hours.

I was able to finish the quest to day.

Quest can now be completed. It takes a ton of cutthroats to get 10 cords. After that you have to swim around Pride Lake to soak the boots. Your reward is some small exp and the Elephant Hide Boots.

i thought after the patch today they fix it but i guess it still bugged been killing cutthroats like a mad man and not one cord :(

I have done the elephant hide part it droped off a regular elephant for me, but took killing a few. Then for xp and other quest I have killed atleast 100 cutthroats and haven't gotten credit for even 1. I have killed cutthroats in the maze as well as in WC. I'm pretty sure it bugged like it says.

Well i did the hide part but i got lost when it comes to these cut throats.
I can't find them for the luv of me, i was told they are SW of the cross-roads but all i find is bandits and other stuff no cut throats.
i have seen some of them right down in the wailing caves but that is all.

Its bugged, the next step tells you that you need to get 10 strings from dervish cutthroats but when you kill them they dont give you any quest credit.

I also received the Elephant Hide Boots quest from the Brittle Skeleton in the cemetary - in the commonlands - outside the gate leading to the Sprawl.

You must log in or create an account to post messages.I've found a pair of holey boots that looked like they were worthless. Upon closer inspection, it might be possible to repair these durable shoes.
I've been able to repair these boots back to their former condition.
I was able to attain some cord from Dervish Cutthroats here in the commonlands.
I managed to soak the hide in Pride Lake to the perfect size.Through much work, I've been able to repair these boots. They're now a nice set of Elephant Hide Boots.
