Hello everyone,
I went hunting in this zone for the first time about four days ago. I'm a level 58 Fae Fury, Blackburrow. The majority of the stuff in the beginning con'd blue (Heroic ^ and Heroic ^^) and seemed harmless enough. I had with me a 63 Necro. His pet could tank this stuff in the beginning quite easily. He didn't even pull the harpie groups, just had his pet move in to attack.
At first I was pretty much at full mana the entire time, until he said, "Invis and follow". For the first time playing EQ2 (I've only been playing for about four weeks now) I had this feeling that this might be too much to handle and almost stopped him.
He brought us to a safe place (there isn't really a safe place, when I say safe place I mean right on top of the mob) and began attacking immediately. We walked through the named mobs in the zone like they were warm butter. In fact, even the level 60Heroic^^^'s went down quite quickly. There was probably two times within this instance that I ran out of mana and he said, "Hold for power."
He's not much of a talker, he's all about killing while he's got a Healer to take care of his pets life. I respect that whole heartedly. I watched my 3% into level with 2.9% (was searching for the Far Seer in Clefts) debt disappear in less than a minute.
The Aegis dropped and unbelievably for the first time in EQ2 or my five years back in EQ1 I actually won a roll on something I could totally use as an upgrade. I was freaking out. His words were, "Gratz!"
I'm writing this because a lower level friend of mine found this online and wanted to go camp the Aegis. After being in that zone I realized that a Serker would not be able to do it at level 52. This will assist those to get a good group together prior to entering.
Just a word of advice, lock out timer after you kill the first named. Make sure your entire group is free so you can go on a killing spree. Also, the mobs are VERY tightly knit. They're almost on top of each other with a medium agro range. If you're moving through this zone, suggestion is to actually move and not sit in one spot. Continue to kill and replace yourself with the mobs.
At one point I thought we'd die. There was a named snake he wanted to go after and sent his pet in for the attack without warning. I was agro'd by a couple harpies just as I was Owl'ing the pet and us. My health turned red so fast it was riduculous. He put his pet on the Harpies and the snakes began attacking him (there were like 10 baby snakes). Once I sent out Owl's again two of the snakes agro'd me (the named hadn't come due to he only attacked the babies... which was odd that he didn't agro the named as well) I had to act quickly. So, for all of you Animal Charmers out there, you CAN Charm the snakes. We killed these things and moved on.
There was an instance where we were moving to another named (I do believe she and her mates con'd red... not really sure) but on route to her we were caught by a see invis mob (VERY few of them other than some of the named). We died. No biggie... I was already at 96% into level (by the way, I mentioned I am a level 58 Fury, at this time I had just dinged 57).
Hope this all helps your future in grouping here. It's great exp and great loot. I love it here and am going to come back until they all con green. :)
