Speak to Freesia Ticklewing at 161, 108, 171 in Kelethin.
Go to 1723, 4, 648 of the Isle of Mok in Timorous Deep. Equip and use the Flute of a Thousand Colors to make the Windhowler Reed appear nearby.
Harvest the Windhowler Reed to obtain a Silver Threaded Windhowler Reed.
Use the flute from your charm slot to place the reed in the flute.
Use the flute from your charm slot to receive the Second Magic Lyric.
Go to -378, -58, -357 at Ganak's Battlement in the Stonehoof Badlands area of Jarsath Wastes. Equip and use the Flute of a Thousand Colors to spawn Zaz the Wailer 80 Heroic ^^ just north of you. Kill him to receive the bone reed.
Use the flute from your charm slot to place the reed in the flute.
Use the flute from your charm slot to receive the Third Magic Lyric.
Go to the spider cave ( -2251, 232, 927 ) between the Temple of the Red Lord and the Temple of the White Lady in the Skyfire Mountains area of Jarsath Wastes. Equip and use the Flute of a Thousand Colors to make the Resonating Crystals appear nearby.
Harvest the Resonating Crystals to obtain a crystal flute plate.
Use the flute from your charm slot to attach the plate.
Use the flute from your charm slot to receive the Fourth Magic Lyric.
Kill Armsmaster Keelo (or his placeholder a drolvarg trainer) at 20, -56, 183 just to the east of the Rhinos in Karnor's Castle to receive the deklium plating. (Uncommon Auto-Update)
Use the flute from your charm slot to attach the plate.
Use the flute from your charm slot to discover that the restoration is complete.
Speak to Freesia Ticklewing at ( 161,108,171 ) in Kelethin.
Speak to Smendrik at 2604, 86, 1296 in Gorowyn in Timorous Deep.

I have amassed a few clues about a fabled song of incredible power written by a bard known only as the "Maestro". Slezaf's Lute seems key to finding it, but it needs to be repaired. As it is being worked on, I have been given the Flute of a Thousand Colors to fix.

Stage 1

I need to search for the silver threaded reed. I will need to play the Flute to reveal it.

Start:	I need to search for the silver threaded plant with the mystic reed. I will need to play the Flute to reveal it. I should search along a coast and play it among other reeds.
Complete:	I found and collected the Silver Threaded Windhowler Reed.

Start:	I need to place the Silver Threaded Windhowler Reed within the Flute of a Thousand Colors.
Complete:	I have placed the reed within the Flute.

Start:	I should play the Flute for a new clue.
Complete:	I have played the Flute, and it has yielded another clue.

I have revealed the silver threaded windhowler reed and combined it with the Flute of a Thousand Colors.

Stage 2

The Flute has directed me toward the Jarsath Wastes. I should search for an individual there with a bone reed.

Start:	I should search Jarsath Wastes for the individual who carries the bone reed. I may need to play the Flute to raise them.
Complete:	I have defeated Zaz the Wailer and obtained the bone reed.

Start:	I should place the bone reed within the Flute of a Thousand Colors.
Complete:	I have placed the bone reed within the Flute of a Thousand Colors and it has changed.

Start:	I should play the Flute once again.
Complete:	I have played the Flute, and it has yielded another clue.

I have defeated the skeleton of Zaz the Wailer and obtained the bone reed. Combining the bone reed with the Flute yielded another clue.

Stage 3

My next clue suggests that playing the Flute will reveal powerful, resonating crystals. I should find such a cave and try playing it.

Start:	I need to find the crystal flute plating. I should play the Flute within a cave among creatures who might prize such an item, and watch for my song to reveal resonating crystals.
Complete:	I have played the Flute and a batch of new crystals has sprung up. I then harvested the crystal flute plating from them.

Start:	I should attach the lip plate to the Flute.
Complete:	I have attached the lip plate to the Flute, and once again, it has changed.

Start:	I should play the Flute.
Complete:	I have played the Flute and doing so has yielded another clue.

I have played the Flute and obtained a crystal lip plate for the Flute, which has once again altered it slightly and yielded another clue.

Stage 4

The clue now inscribed on the Flute has lead me in the direction of the drolvarg in search of deklium plating.

Start:	I should seek out a drolvarg and take the deklium plating from him.
Complete:	I have killed Armsmaster Keelo and obtained the deklium plating for the Flute.

Start:	I should attach the deklium plating to the Flute.
Complete:	I have attached the deklium plating to the Flute, and it has once again changed.

Start:	I should play the Flute.
Complete:	I have played the Flute, but there are no more clues to be found within it.

I have obtained deklium plating from the Armsmaster of Karnor's Castle. Attaching it to the Flute has revealed that I am through restoring it!

Stage 5

I should return to Freesia Ticklewing in Kelethin.

Start:	I need to speak with Freesia in Kelethin.
Complete:	I have spoken with Freesia and she has directed me to speak with Smendrik.

Freesia passed Slezaf's Lute on to Smendrik, a master instrument crafter, and he has sent word that he wishes to speak with me.

Stage 6

Freesia has sent me to speak with Smendrik about Slezaf's Lute. He has moved on to Kunark, however, looking to collect new Kunarkian instruments.

Start:	I need to speak with Smendrik the instrument aficionado.
Complete:	I have spoken with Smendrik in Gorowyn. He is almost finished restoring the Lute but needs a few more items from me.

I have found Smendrik in Gorowyn and spoken with him about Slezaf's Lute.

I have managed to restore the Flute of a Thousand Colors.
