History of the Gnome, Part II
This quest is initiated by reading the book The History of Gnomes and choosing to Read Story 2 after completing the first quest. You must visit three locations. After visiting each read the book to receive the next destination:
- Visit The Siege Lands at -1283, -75, -268 in The Commonlands. Read the book again.
- Visit The Hidden Vale at -300, -47, 780 in The Commonlands. Read the book again.
- Visit The Burial Pit at -176, -55, -13 (take the winding staircase down past the Advisor) in The Wailing Caves.
After reading the book upon completing the third step, this quest will close. Examine the book again and choose to Read Story 3 to open the next quest.

The Burial Pit is the one thats behind the Painting/Door on lvl 2. Kill the named in the room and it'll open.

The quest doesn't udate down in the pit of death, so where do I get the update?

This quest works fine as of 5/26/06.
You must make sure that you are on the lower level of the Wailing Caves to get the update. The top level is called Pit of Death, the lower level is called Burial Pit.

Still not working, send in another Ticket. I guess the problem is that they changed the name of the Pit from Burial Pit to Pit of Death during the last revamp of the zone and that the quest script still is waiting for the zone info Burial Pit.

I'm still getting the bug for the Burial Pit. Not getting area trigger or ding. Have also bugged this a couple of days ago. Also filed a customer service ticket yesterday and the GM told me that there are no known issues. So it looks like they are not very responsive (or just plain clueless) about this.

This quest is bugged. I cannot get an update for the Burial Pit and I *know* I'm in the right place. Have put in a bug report. Let's hope it gets fixed sometime this century.

Anyone have a loc on the Burial pit? I'm doing this at level 33 just for fun, and I'm in what my map says is the burial pit however I cannot get my quest to update.

BTW, just for information...not sure if they fixed this or not, but on one occasion I destroyed the key while I was inside the area behind the painting because I needed space in my packs. Turns out this was a bad idea because then the door wouldn't open to let me back out from the inside; had to wait for someone else to come in, in order to get out. lol

Consistent with other fixes SOE has done ... the key now drops even if the advisor is named. He actually gave me 2.

I paid a guy who had a key to get me in. So even if you can't get the key drop, you can do this quest.

Problem: I understand that to get the key to access the passage behind the painting, I need to kill a named advisor in the Throne Room. However, I'm lv 25 and that names is grey to me, so he doesn't drop anything. Am I hosed on completing this quest? Or can the key be borrowed/bought from another player to whom the named isn't grey?

Nope, the pit of death is deep inside...it's through the painting on the wall that requires a key

in wailing caves i can only find pit of death, i go to the bottom of it and still no burial pit, is this the (winding staircase down) you were talking about?

After visiting the Siegelands it asks you to go to the Hidden Vale (the one in the Commonlands, not Antonica). After that, it asks you to go to the burial pit in the Wailing Caves. That's as far as I am so far
