Desperately Seeking Moths!  

If you already have the butterflies in your inventory before activating this quest, then you will not receive the quest update when you move it to your personal inventory nor when you examine the butterfly. Fortunately, to get the quest update, just place it in and then take it out of your consignment system.

Okay, I'm really mad at SOE now... I finally finished this quest after harvesting a total of over 650 ?'s and they nerfed the reward the day before i finished it....... instead of 18 slot bag i got a 12 slot.............

dont bother with these quests... i wasted 20 hours of my life on them, thanks sony! Oh, and if you already completed them you get to keep the bigger bags... lol...

Okay... I'm starting to think that when you actually have a quest to get update from picking up a specific ? item, sony has coded it to make the item drop less frequently. I finished the desperately seeking butterflies quest without too many hours of searching, but on this moth quest it's been insanity... (i did all my collecting for moths in the sunken city, and butterflies in the caves)

On the first part, finding a plain brown moth... one of the commonly dropped moths, I collected over 200 ?'s before finding one! Before I got the one i needed I had 17/18 of all the shattered bones and duplicates, all scuffed and chipped shards, some of the rarely dropped cracked bones, and every single moth EXCEPT the plain brown one I needed! (and had multiples of most stuff) The odds of this happening were so remote, I started to believe sony had a hand in making it harder since I had a quest for it.

The next step, a striped brown moth, again over 200 ?'s before I found one, and this time I had gotten tons of plain brown moths, which I had so much trouble with on the last step when I needed it. This time before I got the moth I needed I had every single shattered bone 18/18, all scuffed and chipped shards, some cracked bones, every single moth except a brown striped! And not only did I have everything, I also had at least 2 of every moth, and deleted so many I cant begin to count.

After I got my striped brown moth, I moved on to the last step, the spotted yellow moth again, that the NPC lost from the previous quest... Okay I'm still working on getting this one, but I've already harvested over 200 ?'s and have 18/18 shattered bones, all scuffed and chipped shards, (over 50 bones and over 50 shards so far).

Okay... on the first moth, you could call it bad luck... on the second... MAYBE, but on the butterfly also? I honestly believe that having this quest modifies the drops of the ?'s to make it harder... Especially since it was so hard to find the plain brown moth, and every other time I got tons of them...

All I can say is, if you're going to do this quest, make sure you have enourmous amounts of time on your hands, (I think I invested about 20+ hours into these quests so far) or just look a little whenever you can... I'm really looking forward to my 18 slot bag... I will accept the ants quest but I probably wont attack it like I did these other quests... Hopefully I'll finish it one day heheh.

Easiest zone to harvest moths in is Sunken City, there are around a dozen collection nodes in this zone and you simply run in a pattern around zone. By the time you harvest one node, another will be up somewhere in zone, and usually this zone is devoid of people, at least on my server.

It can take a while to find the right exact moth, so break out the aspirin bottle. You will also find a lot of scuffed shards and cracked bones for collections which can be a good thing if you were lacking those.
