Yes, this can go for quite a few plat. Yesterday I got lucky on the beach across from the newbie area, where the rolling stones are. By lucky, I mean that out of 4 shinies, I got 3 spotted yellow butterfly.

This is a fairly rare spawn that is used in the "Desperately Seeking Butterflies" quest in the Thundering Steppes. As such, it can sell for quite a few gold.
