Hail Hoo'Loh on Strifewind isle next to the chain connecting Discord and Strifewind. He is near the wall.
Kill vultaks surrounding Hoo'loh

This part works by killing any 15 of the vultak's (at least any of them around Hoo'Loh on the ground gave updates) on Strifewind. The quest updates after every kill.

Return to Hoo'loh
Kill a Vultak scroll-bearer (65^^^ Heroic) in the Strifewing Camp (requires 2-4 people).

The camp entrance is through a small space in the cliffs, on the west side of strifewind island at ( 128, -22, -594 ) . It is past the small pond/pool of water. Go in and up the climbing wall to your left. The scroll bearer was fairly easy and had to clear a few mobs to get to him.

Return to Hoo'loh
Go to your home city and get an ancient scroll from the mage guild in either Freeport or Qeynos:

Academy of Arcane Sciences in North Freeport, on the second floor on a table to the right as you take the elevator up at 6, 8, -115 .
The Mage Tower in South Qeynos, through the yellow portal by the Sage on the ground at 703, 82, 132 .
It took about 3 min to respawn (this may not be entirely accurate and is just a guess) for each group member and it was always in the same spot.

Return to Hoo'loh
Go into The Nest of the Great Egg and lead Hoo'loh to the great egg.

The instance in this case is the same as usual (there is a separate one later...I'll explain at that point). Clear the zone and kill the named up top. Lead Hoo'loh to the egg. He then tells you to go and speak to Hoo'Loh (he means Hoo'loh in Barren Sky not the one in the Nest).
Note: If Hoo'loh dies you need to leave zone and reset. So, if you are duoing or soloing leave Hoo'loh at entrance and do not hail him. That way you can wipe as many times as you want and not have to reset. When you clear zone enough to get through safely go back and get him.

Return to Hoo'loh
Collect items off various mobs

Scaleborn warriors: you can get updates in the Sanctum of the Scaleborn in Tenebrous Tangle. We killed the warriors in Sanctum and received an update after 7 kills.
Bloodscale Dreadknights: mobs where the ring event is in Palace of the Awakened. Way up top. Took 3 kills for us.
Formless Abominations: These can be found in The Halls of Fate in The Bonemire. Instead of turning right to go to Sothis, turn left in the room with the option. The formless abominations are in a pit at the end of the area. We received an update with the third kill.
Doomwing Skarize Centurions: These are also found in The Halls of Fate. They have a nasty knockback and I tried to corner the mobs as much as possible (tanks back to corner). In fact, many mobs in Halls of Fate have nasty knockback...BEWARE!
Sothis: Dragon in The Halls of Fate

Sothis isn't tough in himself. Level 72 dragon 3 up arrows. It's the adds. At the beginning he has untargetable guards around him. Once you agro Sothis they move toward the group slowly. Once they add they ruin your life. BUT they move very slow. To kill them and reduce their threat to your dragon beat down quickly there are potions around Sothis that are lore and each member can pick up.
I pulled the dragon with my bow up top and fought him there. It bought us a minute extra before we had to deal with the adds.
When the adds approach have one member at a time peal off Sothis and chuck their potion at the Add. It kills them instantly and makes for a MUCH easier fight.
He dropped a pair of very, very cool boots that I was lucky enough to win.

Return to Hoo'loh
Go back to Nest and sneak in an Instance (The Egg's Blessing) using the disguise Hoo'Loh gives you.

Be careful at this part. The disguise does change you but if you get too close to the mobs in zone they will see through it and agro (quest failed, go back to Hoo'loh for another disguise).
Once you've made it up top and communed with the egg, you will still get failure messages if your disguise is discovered but it will no longer fail the quest and thus can be ignored.

Return to Hoo'loh for your reward.

Location of the Bloodscale Dreadknights: as per point 10.2:

The quest update is uncommon and you may have to wait for respawn to get it. These monsters spawn in the second half of the ring event at the top of the dungeon, to the West (144, 102, 2). They spawn with the small green dragon, Palace Adjutant Drakknair (above The Nest of the Overseers), after the area is completely clear.

More also reside on the 5th floor on the other side of the palace. To get there, you go up to the third floor, and go to the far side(west) of the third floor there is a second climbable wall (in the forge). Go up this wall and you will be in "The Nest of the Skylords". Take the lift to the top of that nest (Erudition Aviary) and you will find the Bloodscale Dreadknights.

Even thought the mobs were gray and usually don't attack me, they did attack if I got too close with the disguise on.

Invisibility didn't help.

Once I got the Blessing, it appeared that they would no longer attack me like most grays don't. But I'm not totally sure.

When you go up the first elevator you are faced with a choice. Try to dodge the mobs in the hall on either side, or try to go though the room in the middle. Both are doable.

To get down the halls, wait till the roamer is away from you then step forward and into the side hall. Wait for him to pass you, run out and to the second elevator. This is NOT as easy as it sounds, as he BARELY gets out of detect range, so you have to step out of the side hall at exactly the right time.

To get though the middle room, stand outside and watch them for awhile. You will see that their path is very regular and there is a gap in it. Imagine you are jumping rope and looking to "jump in". Time it, step in and right, wait, step forward, wait, step through the far door. This is actually NOT as hard as it sounds.

How to lead Hoo'Loh to the egg if the zone is gray

The quest was still green to me at level 80 although the mobs in this step were gray. So here's the easy way (it is also a summary of the minimum steps anyone must do).

The lockout timer didn't set right away. Probably not until you kill named.

First of all, don't get Hoo'Loh yet.

When you enter the door, climb down the wall.
Go straight ahead and climb down the next wall.

Now you need to kill Nutty to get the key to the elevator for later on. He patrols around the edge of the area called The Library of the Seven. Find him. Kill him and get the key.

Walk down the hall to the next area and climb up the wall.
Go straight ahead to the circular gold tiled area. This is an elevator.

Get ready for a fight.
Click on the elevator.
When you reach the top you will be attacked by 3 waves:
Gorgs
Vultaks
Flying Serpents

When you kill all of them Chamberlain XHaviz 67^^^Heroic and his pet will absorb the life of all his minions in the zone (they are now all gone.) Kill him.

Now head back to bring Hoo'Loh through the empty zone.
Click on the egg with him there.
He tells you to speak with Hoo'Loh. This means the other one outside.

Just a quick note I was able to use the right side of the last to final floor better. The guard walked past the side room a bit so I was able to run and duck in there. Then when he went the other way I ran past to the elevator then to the egg.

Vultak Scroll-Bearer major undercon

The Vultak Scroll-Bearer is a major undercon. Absurdly so.

He is supposed to be 65^^^ Heroic. Those are usually very easy for me to solo as 70 necro with full AA solo specs, Master tank pet, etc. I can usually take Blue Heroics just below my level. It took several tries and I barely killed him - almost OOM and I'm never almost OOM. Almost nonstop healing spams with tainted heals.

Do yourself a favor, take a strong group.

The Scroll-Bearer is a raid mob that has been flagged as a 65^^^. He was hitting our level 70 Guardian for 1000K to 1200K per round on regular melee hits. A single level 66 Templar in the group could not keep up on the heals, and once the Guardian was gone....so was the group!

The scroll bearer is a massive undercon, but he's not a raid mob. I've successfully tanked him in mostly Xegonite armor. My wife was able to solo heal me, though it is tough and requires the tank do every defensive ability he has. It will require every trick the tank knows to do it with one healer, but a second healer should make the fight quite manageable. Just be sure to bring the DPS with you, as it's a sprint between his hit points and the healer's power. In that sense it is very much like many raid mobs.

The times we failed to take him was not due to lack of healing but lack of DPS. My wife's templar would run out of power before we were able to kill him. We got him a few nights ago with just four people (Grd70, Tmp70, War70, Tmp68), but it was a very tough fight.

Bring a full group, even if the other people are just more tanks. Poor DPS classes bring more to the table than an empty group slot.

We did the room with the green dragon first..no update. We then fought our way to the room with the black dragon. It hss alot more dreadknights. We got the update and a nice chest off the dragon :)

number 10..you can't get updates outside of TT for warrior scaleborn..go into SOS. Don't waste time like we did :( .

Finished it today..Lost my illusion form as I fall a short distance down the first wall..Followed Arenimus advices and it worked perfectly fine even if I was visible for all the birds in the zone..
Just stay near the walls and look around

Almost done this quest. I saw a lvl 70 Troubador with Hoo Loh's Customized Hat. all this is is a different look for the normal hat. talk to hoo again after recieving the hat to get the customized version!

Actually, you cannot 'kill whatever agroed you and continue on'. Once you have agro, you have failed. If you continue on to the egg, you will not be able to get an update from it. (Ugh, I had to make that stupid climb to the owl _again_, lol)

Firstly, (as of this post) you don't need the disguise in order to complete the quest. If you get aggro and are lucky enough not to pull the zone, I suggest killing whatever you aggro'd and continuing on.

Hat helps, though. :)

Also, the walkthrough by Arenimus (below) is really helpful for anyone not familiar with the zone. In step 10, though, be sure to go left as advised.. Going right doesn't make any difference as far as the quest is concerned, but the walker to the left allows much more room for error. :)

The disguise disappeared before I got to the egg, but I got there with a bunch of vultaks beating on me. I couldn't click the egg. The option was grayed out. Do I have to get around to the front of the egg?

If you manage to stop fighting can you then click the egg? I'm a conjuror. I had cancelled my pet for the trip up there, but he might keep the vultaks off me long enough for me to click the egg if that is the case.
