Finbert Lintzig has asked me to conduct a test for him with the Black Boxes. In the crater near the Great Gear is a large inactive clockwork. I am supposed to take the Black Boxes to the inactive clockwork, install them and see what happens.
I got some black boxes from Finbert and should head to the inactive clockwork.
I installed the Black Boxes in the inactive clockwork.
I have destroyed the rampaging glitched clockwork creation known as Haywire Opticron.
I have returned to Finbert Lintzig with detailed information on what happened after installing the Black Boxes into the Inactive Clockwork.I installed the Black Boxes inside the inactive clockwork at the crater near the Great Gear. The distress beacons called in some clockwork assemblers, which repaired the hulking robot and activated it. I was forced to destroy the robot before it could rampage across the Steamfont Mountains.
Stage 1

- Finbert Lintzig asks you to take the black boxes to the Inoperative Clockwork in the crater near the Great Gear in Steamfont Mountains -1119, 79, 945 .
- Note: Opticron is sometimes up in place of the Inoperative Clockwork. If this happens, kill Haywire Opticron and the Inoperative Clockwork spawns 5-7 minutes later. You must speak to the Opticron and it will go "Haywire" and become a "Haywire Opticron".
- Examine Inoperative Clockwork. Open the panels and insert the Black Boxes.
- 3 non-attackable clockwork assemblers appear and gather around Inoperative Clockwork. Inoperative Clockwork turns into non-attackable Opticron. The assemblers explode and Opticron turns into attackable Haywire Opticron. Destroy the "Haywire Opticron" (lvl 42^^^ heroic).
- Return and speak to Finbert Lintzig to complete your quest.

bring a grp pref with a healer
Doing this at 42 going over my pet log and I find normal swings in the 1k range!
Have lots of healing if you don't have a player tank for this.

Noticed last posting on this quest said it's bugged...but that's from '07. Did it today and it appears to be fine...wasn't able to manage final kill as 44 Warden...but didn't expect to. ;)

Quest does not seem to be working.....still broken and has been broken for a while...I am going to more than likely delete this quest cause it has been in my quest log since September.

I've managed to spawn the Haywire Opticron easily..... just can't seem to kill it! (Wizards just don't have good armor and it's hitting me 670 or so.)

this is stupid i cant finish this bugged quest
Still bugged ...... hopefully the fix will come with the Kunark update?!

I have tried for 2 days to get the black boxes as well. Finally sent in a bug ...

still bugged :( I tried yesterday and had the same problem... deleted the quest started again and it still gives me no option to install the boxes.
I've done the quest before on another toon so I know it worked.. once.
Has anyone else had any luck with a bug report?

I only get an option to do nothing when I examine the Inactive Clockwork, I have not deleted anything from my inventory, why???

I had this same problem. Deleted the quest and re-hailed him, but he still didn't give me any black boxes in my inventory even though the chat text says he did. I ended up bugging it in game. We'll see what happens i guess.
Gogo bugged quests :(

I tried a couple of times to kill this and failed and then had to log. He was back to inoperative before I could get back to him. I reobtained the black boxes by deleting the quest and reobtaining it from Finbert.

Be careful as Opticron is attackable by anyone. I spawned him and had another group attack him, and steal the kill before I could hit him. Afterwards they indicated he was a named and they didn't know he was a quest mob.

Just a FYI, When you are putting the 3 black booxes into the Inoperative Clockwork stay near it and choose watch what happens in the quest dialogue box. I moved to a wall with the dialogue open and did not get a chance to choose Watch what happens before the window closed. I have the next step destroy the Haywire Opticron but no clockwork assemblers are showing up. Just a warning Good Luck
