Extracting the Defector  

Don't s'pose you'd care to mention the correct location...

Sadly my post on ogaming did not make it over to Alla. So here we go again.

There are spoilers below, so don't read if you want to experience the joy of this quest in pure unadulterated ignorance.

This is probably the absolute quickest way to get 5000 faction. If you are looking to gain Qeynos faction, I could not find a easier or better way. And believe me I tried a lot of them.

I did this quest as a level 11 assassin.

The zone is custom-tailored to your level and is repeatable.

The way to do this quest most efficiently is to:
1) Run from Gil straight North to the Commonlands Docks (good time to sprint).
2) Take the mariner's bell into Longshadow Alley.
3) Run from the LA dock to the sewer grate that leads to Thieves' Way.
4) In Thieves Way, it's a quick hop to the east, take a right, then head south through the center of Thieves' Way to the zone-grate for South Qeynos.
5) Zone into SQ.
6) Carefully watch for guards walking up and down the road. I did see one that walks up and down the road but many times he wasn't even in sight.
7) When the coast is clear, run up the ramp (NOT the road), again carefully watching for guards. I never saw any up top.
8) At the top of the ramp, straight ahead (if you don't turn after you get up top), is a slanted door leading into the basement of a building. That's the one you want. I don't remember the location, sorry.
9) DO NOT ENTER THE ZONE STEALTHED OR INVISED. I did that once and it borked up the zone. I had to zone back out and come back in.
10) Walk slowly forward, there is a guard right around the corner. He is not aggressive. Talk to him and he will give you a pass to get into the back. All the other guards will become non-aggressive at this point. He will tell you the Captain is in the back.
11) Go upstairs and find the tree in the corner. You cannot use it yet but you need to know its location for later.
12) Walk to the back on the bottom floor. Talk to the Captain but DO NOT respond yet.
13) Face away from the Captain, and get ready to run. If you have a ward, reactive heal, or heal over time ability, now is the time to use it.
14) Once you respond to him you find out it is a trap!!! All of the guards in the zone become aggressive to you. The Captain can be fought solo before engaging the other guards if you position yourself right, but he is white-con one-up arrow, so he can be pretty tough to take down if you do not have good equipment and good adepts (I could not beat him with my level 11 assassin). You CAN fight all of the guards, but it is so much easier to just RRRRUNNNNN.
15) The instant you respond to him do not wait to finish talking. RUN. Run like Forrest Gump. Run like a rabbit getting away from a fox! Run like... ok you get the picture. =) Responding to him updates the quest. You do not need to finish the conversation.
16) Run straight out of the room, up the stairs, and double-click on the tree as fast as you can. Exiting the zone updates the quest again.
17) You are now back in South Qeynos, and your quest should say Return to Gil McMartin.
18) You can run back down to the sewers and run back out to Gil if you want. Or , for the super-quick way, run directly toward the stairs in front of you in South Qeynos and jump. You will fall a goodly way and die.
19) You will rezz in the Commonlands just a short distance away from Gil. Run back to him to turn in the quest for an eays 5k Qeynos faction.
20) Grab the quest again and do it again right away!

You might need to hit the Mender at the Crossroads every few deaths to fix your armor so your mitigation doesn't turn to poo (so you can take the hits while escaping the zone). Be careful at the Crossroads as there are wandering guards who are aggressive to you now that you are Exiled.

Hope this helps some of you who are trying to betray but don't want to take a week doing it.
