You have entered The Commonlands.
You say, "Hail, Elmin Olnara"
Elmin Olnara says to you, "You must not disturb me. I am doing important research in the name of the Overlord."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "We are all beholden to the Overlord's will. What is it you are looking into? Perhaps you could use assistance?"
Elmin Olnara says to you, "And have you take the glory for my discovery to Sir Lucan yourself? I don't think I like the idea of that."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I have no interest in stealing anything from you, or I would have killed you and taken whatever you had of interest. However, we all have a stake in the strengthening of Freeport."
Elmin Olnara says to you, "Very well, then. But I will be watching you."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I will bear that in mind. Now, what is it you are looking into?"
Elmin Olnara says to you, "A few weeks ago, some strange rifts began appearing out in the Commonlands. These spatial tears seem to exude a spiritual power, but one that I have no familiarity with."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "Hmm... and you are attempting to discern the nature of those tears?"
Elmin Olnara says to you, "Indeed. I have been making notes of what I have seen, but with the dangers out in the Commonlands, I have been unable to get too close."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I see. Well, why don't you wait here, then, and I'll handle the heavy work. I'll see what I can find out, and you can add that to your notes."
Elmin Olnara says to you, "Then I will await your return, if the dangers of Commonlands do not claim you first."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "Don't count on that. I'll return soon. For the Overlord."
You say, "Hail, Elmin Olnara"
Elmin Olnara says to you, "And the intrepid adventurer returns. What were you able to find out?"
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I was able to get rather close to the pockets, but seems that they wink out of existence if you attempt to touch them. It seemed to me, though, that they were reality tears into another plane."
Elmin Olnara says to you, "That was my conclusion as well. Did you find anything else?"
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I did. It looked like some small orbs of energy had emerged from the tears, and hovered nearby. They didn't appear hostile or in any way dangerous, but they were there."
Elmin Olnara says to you, "Hmm... unformed spiritual energy, perhaps? This is interesting... I'll add that to my notes, but I'd like to see these myself. I should get these notes to Izius, though."
You say to Elmin Olnara, "Well, I could head into Freeport with the notes. I have business there, and you have more research to do."
Elmin Olnara says to you, "All right... I will ensure that you did not take credit for my work though, when I return. Izius will learn the truth!"
You say to Elmin Olnara, "I have no need to steal your credit. I'll see these get into Izius's hands. Farewell to you."
You have entered North Freeport.
You consider Izius J'lok... That is not attackable.
You say, "Hail, Izius J'lok"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Greetings, traveler. What brings you to the Temple of War?"
You say to Izius J'lok, "Hello, Izius. I was sent here by what I assume is a student or underling of yours, who was doing studies out in the Commonlands of strange spiritual pockets that he discovered."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Ahh... yes. You must mean Elmin. He has done little that has impressed me. I believe that he took the chance to study the energy as an effort to regain my esteem."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Well, to his credit, he seems to have collected some interesting information, and asked that I pass it on to you."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Very well... let me see that."
You say to Izius J'lok, "There you are. It seems that the spiritual pockets in Commonlands lead to another dimension, and that small spheres of spiritual power are coming out of the tears."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Hmm... I see. Without having seen these myself, it's hard to say what they are for certain, but with your description and the notes Elmin took, I would assume that his assessment is correct -- those are indeed unformed bits of spiritual power. I wonder, though..."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Wonder what?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Normally spiritual power has form in this realm. They are often counterparts to something that exists in our plane, so unformed spiritual spheres seems strange."
You say to Izius J'lok, "What might cause something like that?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Well, I've noticed an undercurrent in my own communions and meditations with the spirits, something I hadn't sensed before. One of those is a spiritual power that has begun to re-emerge."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Re-emerge? You mean return to our world?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Yes. When I first felt it, I was stunned by the power I felt. In my research, I discovered that the Truespirit, who was once thought lost to Norrath, had returned and contacted the mystics of our world. However, there was something else... something darker."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Do you think this was connected to the Truespirit?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "I do. It's darker even than the power I tap into, but it is subtle and I didn't consider it worth my attention. I think these two things might be connected."
You say to Izius J'lok, "How so?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "The research I conducted implied that there was a cult that had somehow corrupted the energy of the Truespirit, and were siphoning the power, but to what purpose, I was not able to discover. I think the dark energy I felt was this corruption."
You say to Izius J'lok, "So, how is that connected to the spheres in the Commonlands?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "I think that corruption is what is preventing them from taking a form in our world, and I think this might have been part of the plan of the cult. I need to know more, though."
You say to Izius J'lok, "How might we find out, then?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Well, the cult was destroyed by those that supported the Truespirit. I know they had hideouts in a few places in Norrath that were abandoned. It might be worth investigating one of those places and see if we can find information on their process and goals."
You say to Izius J'lok, "I can do that. Do you know where one of those might be?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "I think there was one in Nektulos Forest, near the northernmost part of the shore -- they wanted to have easy access to the boats in case they needed to flee, I suppose. Find that hideout, and see if there's any notes there you can discover."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Very well. I'll see what I can find, and bring it back this way. I will return soon."
You have entered North Freeport.
You say, "Hail, Izius J'lok"
Izius J'lok says to you, "You have returned. Did you find the hideout? Was there anything of interest in there?"
You say to Izius J'lok, "There was. I managed to find some notes on their activities, which I think might actually give us an idea as to what they were planning."
Izius J'lok says to you, "That is excellent news -- I was hoping there was more to this. Let me see those."
You say to Izius J'lok, "There you are. See for yourself."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Ah yes... this is fantastic! Their plan seems to go deeper than I had imagined."
You say to Izius J'lok, "How so? What were they planning to do?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "It looks like their corruption wasn't just to control the Truespirit. They had designs on actually absorbing them. Making the power of the Truespirit to be their own. Imagine that... absorbing that kind of spiritual power and harnessing it yourself. I can see the wisdom in a plan such as that!"
You say to Izius J'lok, "Indeed, but the consequences can be dire. While I was there, I saw empty shells of their followers. They were devoid of souls, just husks of what they once were. The cult of Sellok fell because of their ambition."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Hmm... in my haste, I had not considered that. The Truespirit will never stand idly by to allow such a thing to happen, and they will always be able to find willing mortals to help them thwart such a plan. They were foolish, and they paid for it. We must not make the same mistake."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Perhaps this is a situation we can mold into our favor. The power of the Truespirit could still be ours -- but maybe there's another way to harness it -- to control it."
Izius J'lok says to you, "There might be a way, but for now, the corruption will make that impossible. We would first need to cleanse the damage done by the cult of Sellok first."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Very well. How might we do that, then?"
Izius J'lok says to you, "As I said before, the power of the Truespirit was nearly overwhelming to me. Once I learned what it was, I was able to focus and better commune with it, and I learned that it had a name -- Ravinus."
You say to Izius J'lok, "I see -- perhaps by helping Ravinus, we might be able to cleanse the Truespirit and find a way to harness that power!"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Correct. It is worth speaking with him, and finding out how we might help. I will journey to him and see what can be done..."
You say to Izius J'lok, "No, let me. You remain here and continue your research -- I'll help Ravinus, and perhaps in that time, you'll find more that might help us in our plan."
Izius J'lok says to you, "Ahh... yes, I like that idea. Very well, look for Ravinus in the Thundering Steppes, then return here when you have finished. I'll look forward to your return."
You say to Izius J'lok, "See you then. Farewell."
You have entered The Thundering Steppes.
You say, "Hail, Ravinus"
Ravinus says to you, "Greetings, mortal. I have been anticipating your arrival."
You say to Ravinus, "Is that so? You knew I was coming to see you, then?"
Ravinus says to you, "Of course. There is little that escapes our notice. You've sought me out to see if you can help us with the corruption of the Truespirit."
You say to Ravinus, "Indeed. Without the power and wisdom of the Truespirit, we as mortals could lose our guidance that we do desperately--"
Ravinus says to you, "Spare the theatrics, mortal. I know you are here because you plan to utilize our power for your own plans. As I said, there is little that escapes our notice."
You say to Ravinus, "I see. Then you're not interested in my help to cleanse the corruption, then?"
Ravinus says to you, "I did not say that. I simply said that I'm not interested in dealing with your deceit. We can communicate better if you don't attempt that."
You say to Ravinus, "Very well. Where do we go from here."
Ravinus says to you, "The Truespirit are in need of help from the mortals. We are attempting to push back through into your world, and the corruption that wracks us threatens us all."
You say to Ravinus, "How is that?"
Ravinus says to you, "The cult of Sellok did not know what they were doing when they performed the rituals that allowed their leader to merge with our power. The power they were attempting to attain was far more dangerous than they could have fathomed. The corruption could lead to the destruction of all the Truespirit, cutting you off from our power completely."
You say to Ravinus, "Just their leader? Not the cult as a whole?"
Ravinus says to you, "They were nothing more than pawns. Those in pursuit of power don't share the power they gain. Sellok used them as vessels to channel more power into himself."
You say to Ravinus, "So how does the corruption harm you?"
Ravinus says to you, "It siphons our power, and makes those who are affected slowly fade from existence. Sellok was able to collect this ebbing power, but now, it simply dissolves into nothingness."
You say to Ravinus, "So how do we cleanse it?"
Ravinus says to you, "There is another Truespirit, known as Ilfanul, who is preparing a ritual that will collect and destroy the remaining corruption present in our kind. However, the Truespirit who are infected will be driven mad with pain when the ritual begins, and will attempt to stop it."
You say to Ravinus, "So, we must stop them from interrupting the ritual?"
Ravinus says to you, "No... Ilfanul will have that taken care of himself. What we must do it destroy the stelae that were placed there by the Cult of Sellok in the past. You see, the area that Ilfanul is planning to hold the ritual is on a point where the reality barriers between our worlds is at its weakest, thus allowing the ritual to reach into both existences."
You say to Ravinus, "I see. And the stelae will stop him?"
Ravinus says to you, "They will. They will siphon his power as they are created to do, and he will be destroyed before the ritual is completed. We cannot allow this to happen."
You say to Ravinus, "How do we destroy the stelae, then?"
Ravinus says to you, "We must make a weapon that can damage the weak magical barriers that surround them. There is a specific enchantment upon them, that you could probably find a way to overcome, but it might take more time than we have. There is, however, a way to break it for certain."
You say to Ravinus, "How is that?"
Ravinus says to you, "We must collect piles of bloodsand from Commonlands. The Commonlands has seen more than it's share of conflict, and much of the spiritual energy that is channeled in those conflicts is concentrated in the blood of the fallen. The sand collects this blood, which doesn't dry, and we can apply it to the weapon we need."
You say to Ravinus, "Very well. I will collect the items and return them to you."
You have entered The Thundering Steppes.
You say, "Hail, Ravinus"
Ravinus says to you, "You have returned. How was your search?"
You say to Ravinus, "It went well. I was able to find both the bloodsand and the axe. Will these work for what we need?"
Ravinus says to you, "Yes, these are exactly what we need... by infusing them together, we should be able to destroy the stelae and prevent them from siphoning off Ilfanul's power."
You say to Ravinus, "Excellent, then fuse the items and I will destroy them."
Ravinus says to you, "Here... now, bear in mind that the corrupted spirits will attempt to stop you. Watch for them, and be prepared to defend yourself."
You say to Ravinus, "I will return when I have destroyed the stelae."
You have entered The Thundering Steppes.'
You say, "Hail, Ravinus"
Ravinus says to you, "Welcome back, mortal. I am pleased to see you are well."
You say to Ravinus, "Indeed... and it seems that Ilfanul was able to complete his ritual. The Truespirit should be finally free of their corruption."
Ravinus says to you, "We have felt it. Ilfanul's ritual rippled across realities, and finally purged the cult's corruption from our beings once of for all. The Truespirit are free."
You say to Ravinus, "For now."
Ravinus says to you, "Oh mortal, I know you seek to harness our power as your own. But you might find that there are those of us who seek to use mortals to achieve our own ends as well. You see, you are not the only ones who see a benefit to a partnership between us."
You say to Ravinus, "Is that so?"
Ravinus says to you, "It is. We are pushing back into your world, returning from our long retreat. We are looking to rebond with the mortals of Norrath, working toward a mutual benefit... or to our own ends. Indeed, the long separation is coming to an end."
You say to Ravinus, "What should we be expecting then?"
Ravinus says to you, "Take this back to Izius. Tell him to await the return of the Harbingers -- they will call to him when they are ready. Prepare yourselves... the New Awakening begins."
You say to Ravinus, "We will await their call, then. Farewell to you."
You have entered North Freeport.
You say, "Hail, Izius J'lok"
Izius J'lok says to you, "Ah, you have returned. Were you able to help Ravinus?"
You say to Izius J'lok, "I was. He gave me this token to give to you. He mentioned that you must await the call of the Harbingers."
Izius J'lok says to you, "The Harbingers? Hmm... did he mention anything else?"
You say to Izius J'lok, "Yes, he said that we must be prepared for the New Awakening. He spoke a lot about bonding, which I think might have something to do with it."
You gain Alternate Advancement experience by completing a quest!
You gain 5520 XP!
You receive 7 Gold, 94 Silver, 22 Copper for completing Mutual Adversaries.
Izius J'lok says to you, "Indeed. I am not sure what this New Awakening is, but it might be a chance to finally harness the power of the Truespirit, and amass untold power. I will be watching, and will contact you when I know more."
You say to Izius J'lok, "Very well. I will wait for your call. Farewell for now."
You say, "Hail, Izius J'lok"
Izius J'lok says, "I sense a great power reawakening. We must await the Harbingers, and the message they bring."
