I started my betrayal at level 10, and at level 12 when I attempted this, there was only 1 Freeport guard that would have attacked me from the Thieves Way tunnel to the Dismal Den. It was easy enough to hug the wall to the right to avoid him.

these mobs were level 80. my exile was only 19. so naturally i sent someone high to help her. however, when the merc killed them, she did not get the update. wonder why.

Gil McMartin has given me a task for the city of Qeynos. Information has been discovered that the Dismal Rage of Freeport have been increasing their membership at an alarming rate. Supposedly the Overlord himself has been giving speeches at initiation ceremonies, drawing large crowds. The Dismal Rage needs to be put in check before they grow too powerful. A scout has been sent ahead of me into the Dismal Den, the location of the initiations. The entrance should be behind the Temple of War.

Stage 1

I need to crash the Dismal Rage initiation ceremony. A scout has been sent ahead to gather more info. I should look for the scout in the Dismal Den behind the Temple of War.

Start:	Meet up with the scout in the Dismal Den, behind the Temple of War. I need to crash the Dismal Rage initiation ceremony.
Complete:	I found the scout and was informed that the door to the ceremony was locked. I need to find the key.

I talked with the Qeynosian scout and found out the door to the initiation was locked. I'll need to find the key to the door.

Stage 2

I need to find the key to the initiation ceremony outside.

Start:	I need to find the key and then disrupt the ceremony outside.
Complete:	I disrupted the ceremony!

I found the key in the back room.

Stage 3

I need to return to Gil McMartin in the Commonlands.

Start:	Head back to Gil McMartin and tell him the news.
Complete:	I returned to Gil McMartin.

I returned to Gil McMartin.

It turns out that these speeches from the Overlord were merely a Dismal Rage representative in a Lucan mask. I disposed of him, exposing their plot to all. The word should spread of their falsehoods and their growth has most likely been halted. I returned to Gil McMartin and was rewarded for my efforts.

Note: The infiltration quests require you to enter parts of Freeport that have many high level guards. You can reach these parts of the city via The Thieves' Way, but be observant of wandering guards in the area.

Speak to Gil McMartin at -923, -48, 14 in The Commonlands about really wanting to prove your loyalty to Qeynos to begin this quest.

You need to sneak into North Freeport to crash a Dismal Rage ceremony. Take the Thieves' Way grate from the Commonlands to get here.
Once inside North Freeport, run to -117.19, -8.13, -158.94 . Be aware of guards on the way there and around the Temple of War entrance.
Click the trapdoor to zone into The Dismal Den and commence mass slaughter! Hail the Qeynosian Scout at -3.26, 4.46, -12.97 to update the quest.
The key you want is at -3.87, -1.83, -38.09 in a box on the table. Make sure you right-click and select "search box" to receive the key.
Go back upstairs, right-click the door to use the key and kill the three mobs inside to disrupt the ceremony.
Return to Gil McMartin at -923.36, -47.93, 13.84 in The Commonlands to complete the quest.
