I found an old copper signet ring on the hand of a frozen dwarf. The runes etched into the band indicate that the ring once belonged to someone named Garadain Glacierbane. I could search for the ring owner's descendants by speaking to the coldain in the City of Thurgadin.

Stage 1

I should look for the ring's original owner.

Start:	Find someone who knows Garadain Glacierbane.
Complete:	I spoke to a historian about Garadain.

I spoke to a historian in Thurgadin. She told me she could locate the ring owner's descendants if I recovered a tome for her.

Stage 2

I must recover the Tome of Coldain Kinship.

Start:	Find the Tome of Coldain Kinship.
Complete:	I recovered the Tome of Coldain Kinship.

I recovered the Tome of Coldain Kinship for Elder Historian Melna.

Stage 3

I should return this book to Elder Historian Melna.

Start:	Return to Elder Historian Melna.
Complete:	I returned to Elder Historian Melna.

Elder Historian Melna told me of the existence and whereabouts of Malidain Glacierbane.

Stage 4

Find Malidain Glacierbane.

Start:	Find Malidain Glacierbane.
Complete:	I found Malidain Glacierbane.

I found Malidain Glacierbane and returned his ancestor's ring.

I located the living ancestor of the Copper Coldain Insignia Ring's original owner, a Coldain named Malidain Glacierbane. He was delighted to recover his great-grandfather's ring, and gave me a silver ring in return.

once you see the priest in Thurgadin you have to go to Nektropos Castle - and all the doors are magically locked.....how wonderful. i dont know what that dev idiot was thinking but he should rot in a pile of stinking poo. guess i will have to mentor down to 40 to do the quests

examining the Copper Ring @ lvl 87 gets the message "You are not allowed to use this item"

Doesen't look like you can get the quest for the Silver Ring until 90 possibly.

Pretty sure that's true, I got the same error message with my Conjuror at 89, but after reaching 90 I was able to get the quest.

Examine the Copper Coldain Insignia Ring to receive this quest. You have to be level 90 to do so.

Speak to Elder Historian Melna at 477, -212, 234 inside The Temple of Brell in Thurgadin, City of the Coldain.
Find the Tome of Coldain Kinship. It is located in the library of Nektropos Castle on the second shelf at -25,14,48 . In case you never did the quests there, the zone page, Nektropos Castle, contains a complete walkthrough for all of the access quests within the castle.
Return to Elder Historian Melna
Find Malidain Glacierbane at -805, -334, -24 inside a cave on the Daggerflow Glacier in Great Divide.

Hailing Malidain will complete this quest and begin the next in the series.
