there are 2 more farm areas in Antonica where hay spawns one near the steppes griffon station & the other you can see if you fly from the steppes station to the oracle tower station

I went to the fields just south. I found the Farmer and did who of his quests killing klikniks and scarecrows. I don't see any haystacks at all.

I started at night, and thought maybe by day they would come, but no.

What is the trick to this?

This is a super easy one. Go S from Gol. The fields there are filled with them. This one literally takes less than 2 minutes.
