This is not correct anymore. The quest is finished once the tombstone updates the quest.

For those of you who havent quite figured out how to use the compass, the hidden vale is located just beyond the TS griffon tower between Black Burrow and Thundering Steppes.

Just wanted to mention that this quest is easily doable by *Scout* characters *much* lower than 16. The Highwaymen guarding the canyon on the Southern part of Qeynos highway are only Lv 10 and count toward the Highwaymen killed for this quest.

So long as you can sneak past everything else, you can do this quest easily at a low level.

Entrance to the hidden vale is at -2050 695. Once in the vale, keep left, can't miss it.

Actually, you must return to inspect the bookshelf AFTER killing the highwayman and before using your key on the lost tomb. You receive the reward and quest completion as soon as this is done.

If you fly to the Steppes Station south of that is a little trail that goes into that mountain. A little hard to find, but that is how u get to the tomb.

You can find Mottes lost tomb in the hidden Vale. When you ge to the vale follow the left wall all the way around until you see a Den mother with her bear cubs, she doesn't aggro so you are safe to go in.

Hidden vale is located at the southern most part of the map. You get a decent shield from this quest stats are

The Guard of Motte
+3 int +2 wis +9 hlth +6 power
Sheid Factor (36 at lvl 20)
skill round shield
Required 70
Mastery 100
Slot secondary
Condition 100%
Weight 3.0

You can find the tombstone in the hidden vale behhind a Den mother and her cubs. the Den mother does not aggro so you can head right in.

The hidden vale is south of the southern most bridge. (where Anton is)

There's another part to this. After you kill the 10 Highwaymen, you have to search for Motte's lost tomb and inspect it. Once you find it, you have to go back to the bookshelf.

Don't know the location to it yet =p, haven't been able to find it.
