I found a pair of centaurs in the holding cells of the Varsoon Ruins. The female, Thana, promised to tell me of a great treasure that the centaurs knew about if I could get them out. She said the cells are magically sealed and I'd need to get the keys from the skeleton jailors.
I found the keys to Thana and Grayl's cells.
I returned to Thana with the keys.
I escorted Thana and Grayl to safety.I was able to free Thana and Grayl from their prison cells within the Ruins of Varsoon. They directed me to talk to their chieftain, Kraughl, in the Thundering Steppes about the shipwrecked treasure.

Chieftain Kraughl spawns in a tent at 89.29, 0.77, 1386.78. I walked into his stall and he popped right away.

ok, is there a min. lvl you have to be to get gruards to drop the keys ? i've killed so many there gray but i just want to start the HQ in COV

Was having the same problem; went to loc listed, and couldn't find the Chieftain. However, I went into the tent at the loc listed, all the way back and to the left, and lo and behold, Chieftain popped. This is as of 24 May, and the loc I was at is (exactly): +90.47, +0.67, +1385.85

I too think it is bugged with Chieftain Kraughl becasue I lead the to Centaurs out of RoV and went to go talk to Chieftain Kraughl and he was not there is he on some sort of timer or did i just get screwed cuz the quest is no longer in my journal after i left RoV and I try to go back and start it again and cant get it.

Any Varsoon guard can drop the keys.

I just completed this quest. The NPC that drops the keys is the Varsoon Jailor. You may have to clear the mobs a couple times to get him to pop with the Guards. He dropped both keys seperate times. He is located in the same area as the Centuars you are trying to free. When you get the keys, give them to the female, and follow them to the entrance. Its as easy as that. Good Luck.

Ok listen, I was also bugged when i turned in keys followed them out... I was unable to get update... however I was still able to talk to them again once the centws respawned... the way I managed to fix the bug is as follows.
Talk to them let them out.. while they run out of prison... talk to thana again in mid run give her keys (again) and let them out (again) then respawn back by cages... follow them out this time.. and you get the update... its buggy but this is a fix if you are having trouble also... I tested this with 2 friends that also had the bug. Good luck

The EXACT location of Chief Kraughl is 88.60, 0.71, 1384.90. You have to be in the back stall of the tent closest to the ocean for him to spawn. Just sit there for a few seconds and he will pop. Buggy quest.

Well i finished this so called prison break quest and all i got was the epic angler instance...and when you look it up to find out when zone the Octogorgon pops in.. just says CoD regular.soo who know's what zone u have to go into

Well since LU#16 came out the Prison Break quest is not in my journal now and when I go back to ROV to get again it won't let me.

Lead them to the ent but they did not tell me to speak with Chieftain. When I went to his location he was not there so I am wondering if quest is bugged or will Cheif spawn and then I can advance the quest to get part 2 of COD?

This quest still works just got a key (key 6)off the first guard I killed and received the second jey (key 5) off the jailor.

I wonder if the key drop is bugged - I have killed now about 25 sets of guards with the jailor, more if you count the groups that spawn just guards, and still.. no key =(

The centaurs in RoV to begin the quest are in the jail to the left. When you enter the Ruins of Varsoon from the main entryway, NOT the back, you go through the entrance tunnel and take a left. Then, on the first tunnel you run past on your left, go inside and through to the jail room. There will be Varsoon guards. You may need to sneak to the FEMALE centaur that gives the quest. Once you talk to her, slaughter the varsoon guards for the fifth and sixth jail keys.
After you obtain the quest update for killing the guards, talk to the female centaur again. Give her the keys and let them break free, you must keep in step with them all the way to the entrance.

Windfeather is not a timed spawns. He spawns when all the crabs on the beach are dead and spawns immediately. I have done this three times and it never fails no matter what time of day it is

What are the coordinates, or better yet, which tunnels should I take to get to the trapped centuars?

I believe you need to kill a guard for one key and a jailer for the other.
I got one key off the first guard (not even the guards in the jail) I killed. Then ended killing about 30 more guards without getting another update. A jailer spawned with the guards in the jail and when I killed him, which gave the second key. Since I got updates from both types on the first kill, I'm led to believe that you need to kill them both for this quest.
After getting the two keys, you free the centaurs and follow them to the zone out. There the quest finishes and they tell you to go see Kraughl in TS to begin the next quest: The Cove of Decay - Kraughl's Request.

I am doing this so I can do Stilleto Heritage quest. I had to kill the guards twice to get both keys. While I was waiting I collected 5 shards from "?"s. It was fifteen minutes between pops, not ten as mentioned earlier. May be random and vary from pop to pop. After killing guards talk to Thana and then follow her to portal to TS.

The two Centaurs run back to the zone in, make sure you are behind them, if not you won't get the update. If you do not get update go back and rehail them. and follow them again....First time I ran by them and beat them to zone in not getting update.

No, I got the chieftain to pop in the left tent in the south bandit village even though centaurs hate me... he's a non aggro pop like Obsid. Go in the rear left cubicle and he pops.

Good faction is requred to complete this quest? If unable to complete this quest due to bad faction with centaurs will I still be able to complete the Varsoons access quest?

This is the first part of the access quest for the Cove of Decay. The quest is initiated by freeing the two centaurs in the jail of the Ruins of Varsoon (Thana Rumblehoof is the one to talk to) at -240, 0, 77 . You do this by speaking to them and then killing their prison guards until one drops a key.
Once you release them you will need to follow them to the entrance of Ruins of Varsoon.
They will then inform you to speak to Chieftain Kraughl in the Thundering Steppes at 89, 1, 1385 . He will begin the second quest in this series.
