In order to read the book left by the erudite, I'll need to find a way to open it. The inscription mentioned that placing the scale of an unhatched dragon on the cover would allow the book to be opened.

Stage 1

I need to find the egg of an unhatched dragon and take a scale from within.

Start:	I need to retrieve a scale from an unhatched dragon egg to place on the cover of the book.
Complete:	I've recovered the scale I needed for the book.

I've found the scale I needed to open the Book of Sacrifice.

Stage 2

I must return to the Book of Sacrifice in the Sanctum of the Scaleborn.

Start:	I must return to the Book of Sacrifice and place the scale on the cover.
Complete:	I've placed the scale on the cover of the Book of Sacrifice.

I've returned to and read the Book of Sacrifice.

I've managed to open and read the Book of Sacrifice.

You must harvest an unhatched dragon egg.
This is in the Reservoir of the Wraith near 82, 39, -166 .
After harvesting the egg you must go back to the book and place it on top of it.
You can now read the book and get your update for the quest A Mark of Awakening.
