 Demini's Walking Staff |
This quest is given by Scholar Demini in North Qeynos. It is the first in a series of quests.
He needs you to find some missing pages for him. The first four pages are obtained by killing the following mob types in Antonica.
- Kill 12 of each: each mob type:
- Glade Deers
- Young Brown Bears
- Timber Wolves
- Forest Wardens (Reported to be found around -814.95,-5.39,529.90 )
- After obtaining these pages you must find a page under a rock in Archer's Woods in Antonica ( -842, -5.3, 708 ).
- After doing this return to Scholar Demini to receive the next quest in the chain.

I've agreed to help a historian by the name of Demini in Qeynos. He's looking for some pages to a book he bought from a passing traveler. If I find these pages for him, he claimed he'd reward me for my work.
After much searching, I wasn't able to find any pages on any of these wild animals.
I've found a note on one of the wardens. It seems the warden found the pages and buried them under a rock for safekeeping.
I've found the pages of the book Demini was looking for.
I've given the pages of the journal to Demini in exchange for a nice reward.I've been able to collect the pages of the book that Scholar Demini was searching for.
Stage 1
I need to see if any of the animals in the wilds of Antonica might still have the pages of Demini's book.| Start: | I need to kill the glade deer to see if they have any of the journal's pages. |

Having trouble finding "young brown bear"?
Along the road, north of the Archer's Wood. They share the same spawn as "a timber wolf". If you don't find any bears, start slaughtering the wolves and they'll start popping for you.

There are now many forest wardens of plain level 12-14. The problem was finding young brown bears, which are now at -950, -16, 311.
As has been said, this quest is a pain in the armor if you're soloing, and not worth the time you devote to it, in any event. If you're a committed role-player, the killing of the forest wardens should probably be considered an evil act, since at no point do the wardens reveal as as anti-Qeynos. They're never hostile -- until your quest-giver, Demini, tells you to go slaughter a few.
Lazy, by-the-numbers quest design. "Go here kill X, then Y, and then Z" (rinse, repeat).
Give this quest the pass, as others have already mentioned.

Hardly worth the reward
Considering that Wardens are 13^^^, you can't solo them till 19, and takign a group to kill them at sugested level is too big of a drag.
Specialy considerign the drop rate from the stupid bears by the time i got to the end I was 25

Am I the only one who has a moral dilema killing the wardens? I see no evidence of evil! I wouldn't be upholding the good values of Qeynos if I killed them without some evidence of evil!

The Rock is located in Archer woods, specifically -841.88, -5.33, 707.61. In english, that would be on the South Eastern side of the entire forest facing the path that you go to get to the BB area. You'll see a huge log, a Tree stump, and a few trees, and around them will be a rock. At least that's the one for my update.

Dont know about "cruel" forest Wardens...should just say Forest Warden is needed for the update. Took me 2 kils by the way. Then the note is just on the south edge of the woods. Inspect the rock at the given loc and you will get it.
I tried this... it is a pain
but i think the cruel forest wardens are the ones walking around that appear darker than others .. i.e. wearing black leather etc....

Took me about 8 wardens to get the update, not sure if its random or not though.

I had the glade deer one. When I kill glade deer it seems bugged because I'll hear the quest "you got one" bell noise, but it doesn't advance. I want to know if this is a bug, or it's meant to be that way.

The closest location to that would be... Either near a large round peninsula near the Mariner's Bell (east of it to the lighthouse on a peninsula) or it is in a gnoll cave............I highly doubt it is in the gnoll cave, so your best bets would be near the outside of the Archer's Wood and that huge round peninsula.
Note on the peninsula: From the end of the bridge and go east. You will find a first peninsula. Skip it, because it is not the right one. Go straight to the next one. Someone there should be the rock. I'll get back to you all with the EXACT loc, and surrounding area

ok, where the heck is that location? I have run all over Ant trying to find it. And haven't yet found a clickable rock. Is the rock a random spawn? Am I looking in the wrong place? Please say where that location is--Archer's Wood, Crow fields, where?

What kind of bear is a "young brown bear"?? It's not a bear cub, not a young kodiak... How will it be listed in the game? Thanks much~!

It's even more unsoloable for a level predator at 18. the forrest wardens are now ^^^ and 'heroic'. Which it means you have to be grouped. This bad for soloers, like me. In fact, all npcs in Archer's woods are ^^^ and 'heroic'. Wont be time before the creatures are that level too in the woods.

For me, I had to kill 10 Glade Deer, 13 Young Brown Bears, 12 Timber Wolves and got the ding after the 2nd Forest Warden (I pulled 5 though - just in case). The location of the rock is good. Found no problem.

This quest is unsoloable as of LU #13. All the wardens in Archer Woods are tagged with triple up arrows now.

Im doing this quest right now, 4/16/05, and it says lvl 15 in my quest journal. In addition to killing the bears, wolves and wardens I now have to find a rock the wardens buried the pages under. All it says is a rock somewhere in anatonica near the archers forest. Looks like the quest has changed.

Finally found a clickable rock. right click said "look under rock". Found the pages and now Im headin back to N Qeynos for Demini. Rock was at -841.62 -5.36 706.37. I dont know if it changes or not.

The gnolls and wardens are not place holders for each other. During the day the forest wardens are up. At night, the gnolls. There is one gnoll that is still up during the day (a Timberclaw 15^^ I think). Kill a random number (less than 10 usually), and then find the rock.

The "cruel" forest wardens are in Archer Woods and are the same the as the regular forest wardens. I believe their placeholders are the double up arrow gnolls that are roaming around. I killed all the forest wardens and the the ^^gnolls spawned.

I had to kill 7 wardens, though the last couple were in one fight, so the quest might have updated sooner.

Seems there's been something else added. After killing the animals I was told I need to kil the cruel forest rangers. They are pretty hard. hope the reward has changed as well.
