Looked at the instructions and found them confusing because it says "upper level". Well, there are TWO upper levels. You have to get to the very top level by taking that circular path on the 2nd level (it's the only swirling path on the map on the second level).
After you emerge from this swirling path, you will see several piles of rock almost directly ahead of you across the room. These rocks hide the path you need to get to the final crystal. Go to these rocks and fight some monsters, then go down the path. You'll find the last requirement there.

This quest requires you to speak gnomish.
Geologist Quardifle (+842, +19, +428) needs you to collect some rock samples for him in The Caves. He needs:
- Clear Crystal Sample ( +58.11, +2.93, -119.94 )
- Green Crystal Sample ( +66.73, +12.41, -70.69 )
- Blue Crystal Sample ( -49.35, +16.59, -133.75 )
You gather these by running over their trigger point. Two are near the tasmkasters (one on lower level, one on second level), but the other is more complicated. You must go up to the upper level, run past the golems into a tunnel that goes down and wraps around. You will find it in a dark cave area with Obsidian Rocks that 'con' hostile

I met a gnomish geologist who's quite interested in the surrounding rock formations. He's actually very interested in the formations in the caves, so he asked if I would be so kind as to gather some samples for him within specific mines in the Caves. Of course, I agreed.
I gathered the three samples from the different parts of the caves.
I gave the samples I gathered to Geologist Quardifle.The caves are actually quite amazing, I'm glad that Quardifle had me go investigate them and gather the samples. There are all sorts of underground life in there as well; bats, snakes, spiders, and even living rock formations.
Stage 1

Yeah, so this quest definately still exists... located in Baubbleshire, the gnome mining the rock and speaks his native language gives it.

The third stone is in a room with a ^^^ named Atramentor. I didn't catch it's level, but it was blue to a level 15 and killed me pretty quickly.

The last one is definately hard to find, I finally just ran for it and got the last tick at location (-49.35, +16.59, -133.75). 8 level 13 alabaster behemoth's in the area.

To get to the higher level you need to go thru the waterfall. That is where you will find the last 2 items

I was wondering can someone give me the location of all three crystals, because I'm having a hard time finding them. It's not the mobs in this quest, it's just I can't find the crystals.

It can be done as level 9 Scout as well. You can sneak to the upper level of the caves to the tunnel entrance going down and from there a group of three or four higher level Darkpaws on a plateau could see thru my stealth. I sprinted past them and behind into the second tunnel, ran over the trigger and picked up the last crystal)

Soloed this as a level 12 Fighter, wasnt too difficult.
You can choose the Crystal Embedded Ring or the Crystal Embedded Earring (+1 health, +3 power, 19 mitigation at level 18).

This quest should be a level 15 at least. If you attampt it at any other level then you need a BIG group for the final crystal. They sure kicked my ***, I am level 12 and had help from a level 11.

For non-trackers, Geologist Quardfile is located just left of the waterfall in a small gap between the zonewall and the tree. Location is 842, 19, 428. He is banging on a rock, so listen for the tinking sound.

Hah, I found it! Go up towards the top level, and when you see all the pale adders and other things you'll see a large group of alabaster golems guarding what appears to be a buncha downed pillars... behind them is a tunnel, down to some higher level darkpaws... past them, higher level alabasters and darkpaw stonemasters, where there are OBSIDIAN ROCKS which con white to me, and are aggy (the red part)... and in the middle of that group... BAM! third crystal. =)

Don't know of any area in the caves with hostile con'ing rocks, I've been everywhere and have never seen that.

I can't seem to find the clear Crystal. Anyone else having this issue?

The quest has been altered since the beta. The rocks you need to 'gather' are actually spots in the zone you must run over. Two are near the taskmasters (one on lower level, one on second level), the other one is more complicated. this quest didnt work for my char. I could get the quest but the game it selv didnt recognize that i got the rocks from the caves. even though it stated so in the chatbox
