Gritstone, a Geonid I met within the Caverns of Living Stone, explained that the Geonid Collective has collapsed and that some of his fellow Geonids have been crumbling and de-evolving back into the land. He seems to be suffering from it, himself, too. He said that "Phenocryst was the knowledge stone. Recreate focus! Crystals of velium are the key at the heart of geodes."

Stage 1

I should try to obtain velium crystals from "the heart of geodes" within the Caverns of Living Stone.

Start:	Collect velium crystals from geodes
Complete:	I collected enough velium crystals.

I collected enough velium crystals for Gritstone.

Stage 2

I must return to Gritstone in the Caverns of Living Stone.

Start:	Return to Gritstone
Complete:	I spoke to Gritstone.

I spoke to Gritstone.

Gritstone was able to use one of the velium crystals I obtained to create a Geonid focus crystal.

Speak to Gritstone at -220,-437,3615 inside the Caverns of Living Stone in Eastern Wastes.

Collect 8 velium crystals from rumbling geodes inside the caverns. They are tiny rolling rocks.

Occasionally after killing one, a sparkling crystal will drop; pick it up for your update.

Speak to Gritstone to complete the quest and open up his next quest, Awaking Phenocryst.

Completing this quest also opens up three more quests from nearby geonids, Mulchmaker, Mulchmaker, Rock Hard and Two Heads for the Chopping.
