I needed 10 sweat glands, same reward though.. was that becuz I'm a mystic?- Maybe <shrug>

just for the record the quest i have was for gnoll sweat glands, not fingernails. also only one piece of holy paint was required. cheers!!
mystics can be found grouped with hunters and pariahs, and also near captain ganwail (lvl 27^^^ heroic centaur). hope that helps!

I've killed dozens of the steelhoof mystic's and no paint what's up with that.

if you are at northen bandit camp head due east to main giant bridge drop down into valley and head east again, youll run into valley of ancients. there are mixed heroic levels 25-27 some arrow ups some with out.

Finished this quest today, now that they fixed the update in valley of ancients. Got some exp and this item. There was no choice it always gives the medium armor.

Bump on the How do you bless the plank. I've been all through the Valley of the Ancients and shaken, rattled, and killed everything down there. Anyone know?

I cant seem to get the the plank to be blessed. There is a Firerock Ancient that you can hail, but he wont respond. I have tried to be sneaking and visible. Any help would be appreciated! =)

It appears to be a type of ceremonial shoulder decoration that has somehow become fused with the wooden plank itself. I'll need to find a way to remove the wood without destroying the armor.
I've successfully retrieved the chain mail armor from the wooden plank.With some hard work, the lessons I learned from my old teachers and a bit of luck, I've recovered a nice bit of shoulder armor that could be useful to folks who go in for this sort of thing. I've named my sartorial creation the "Deepening Barrier."
Stage 1
With a little effort, I believe I can extract the armor from within this wooden plank.| Start: | Collect enough gnoll sweat glands to extract a fiber-softening substance from them. |

This quest is initiated by examining a wooden plank. This item drops on monsters in The Thundering Steppes.
The first order of business is to collect 10 gnoll fingernails. These drop on gnolls in the Thundering Steppes. After obtaining them you should examine the plank again.
You must then kill Steelhoof Mystics until you have two pieces of holy paint. After doing this you should examine the plank again.
You should then travel to the Valley of the Ancients to bless the plank ( 652.63, -30.11, 602.39 ) . After doing this examine the plank again for your reward.
