I have met a gnome named Tish Tickers in the top of guard tower number three who seems to be in a bit of financial trouble with a group called the Clockwork Collection Agency. In order to pay off her loan she needs five ancient silver coins. I've volunteered to help her by using the scrying stones she gave me while standing in the 'strange rainbow lights' that sometimes appear out in the wilds to attempt to find the coins among the treasures that can be acquired. She said that if I run out of stones, some merchants have been known to sell them as well.
I have used the scrying stones to find the five ancient silver coins for Tish.
I have brought the ancient silver coins to Tish. She was very pleased and gave me a package for Jacques.I have helped Tish Tickers repay her debt to the Clockwork Collection Agency by finding five ancient silver coins. She seemed very relieved that she wouldn't have to be visited by their clockworks. They did sound very unpleasant.

What are the properties/uses of the various torches that are available as a reward?! What is the difference between them? Which one is best?
Bought the coins at the auction. NO UPDATE. Tried to sell them and buy back from a merchant. NO UPDATE. Posts that lead you to believe you can buy the coins are mistaken. Guess I'll actually have to go to work for this one.
An update. I traded the coin back and forth with another player. DIDN'T UPDATE. Do you have to be grouped for this to work?
There are two different Ancient Silver Coins in the game. The ones for Tish are named "An Ancient Silver Coin", while the ones that just say "ancient silver coin" are vendor trash. Note the capitalization; the ones for this quest have no lore text, while the ones that are vendor trash say that a merchant might buy them.

As I recall they are just a light source. The difference is the color of the light. Tish Ticker's Tinkered Lantern of the Grass, for example, throw off green light.

Did have a "disturbed corpse" spawn lvl 23 Heroic 3 up arrows

Fae Island in Enchanted Lands is a common location to use the scrying stones also.

To me the light seem like an aurora borealis.. northern lights, but with all of the hues of the rainbow. I have seen three active spots and the in-game notes say to watch the same areas for respawns of the lights. In Antonica there is one between the Keep of the Ardent Needle and Fippy's hill. It is between two gnoll camps. One is near the lighthouse on Coldwind point right by the quest giver for the "Tie that binds" quest. One is near the big tree in Archers' Woods near the Archery dummy for Dancer's quest.

Well, judging from your posts i guess i got really lucky today: just with my second scrying stone i found a magnificent treasure with 50(!) ancient coins in it :D i should prolly play lotto or something today.... ;P

This is what I did. Went to the last stand west of ROV. Killed all the tripple down skelletons and used a stone without a rainbow there. Within 20 seconds a rainbow poped up. Rinse and repeat till I got 5 coins. Took me about 45 stones.

I tried twice in two different Qeynos forest zones, the second time always brought a disturbed spawn. Is that a rule?

While you can pass the coins back and forth to get the updates, Tish won't accept the finish quest hail unless you have 5 coins in inventory. SO you'll still have to have 5 of em, no matter how you get them. They were selling for 1g 20s on Antonia Bayle.

You don't even have to buy all the stones, just one. Pass it back and forth to a friend and each time it changes hands it will update. :)

Went to go and talk to tish after only using 1 coin to get the updates and she wouldnt accpet, went back later with 5 coins and she would. Never mind on my last post, not really that usefull

I just got one coin using the stones and then gave it to and friend and him giving it back, did it 3 more times and done. Got a trigger each time.

I think this is true with this whole series of quests, but make sure if you're buying the coins to buy them one at a time to get the update or having your alt or buddy transfer them to you one at a time or the quest won't update correctly. The "rainbows" are sort of like prisms coming out of the ground in some spots. I found several rainbow areas at the Centaur Camp above Coldwind Cove.

no need to use scrying stones to get the ancient silver coins...you can buy the coins off the broker for about 10s. it will update automaticly. it makes it easier :)

This quest is listed as lvl 25 in my quest book please adjust the recomended lvl to reflect this.

I noticed that the rainbows keep spawning by the Soul Eater Falls in Nektulos Forest, and they spawn often there..

They're called "rainbows" but that can be a little misleading. They're rainbow colored, but not rainbow shaped. They look to me to be a sort of inverted cone of rainbow colors, about 10' in diameter at the bottom, about 20' high and 20' diameter at the top. They're ephemeral -- you can see right through them. And, they don't last very long. One time I saw one, went to get a scrying stone, was back in 10 mins., and it was gone.

The lights are rainbows. They radiate up from the ground in various places in the Thundering Steppes, Enchanted Lands, etc. There is usually one in the Steppes around the hidden entrance from Antonica. You stand in the middle and use the scrying stone -- at some point, it will run out and tell you to find another. They move around and are only visible when close to them.

Ganjos, Check out the early posts. Each time you find a coin you only get credit for one find regardless of how many coins. A bag of coins gotten at one time is treated as a single coin.

This quest is bugged for me now. Got all 5 coins but Tish keeps telling me to hurry up.. blah blah blah.

You must log in or create an account to post messages.This quest is given by Tish Tickers, upstairs in the watch tower nearest Southeast griffin station. It's a sub quest to Watch your Step in the Thundering Steppes, Part 2 quest.
You must attain 5 Ancient Silver Coins. These are occasionally found by using the Scrying Stones in the rainbows in various zones, including the Thundering Steppes, Nektulos and Everfrost. Tish will give you five stones, but this probably will not be enough to finish the quest. The Scrying Stones are for sale on the docks of both Nektulos and the Steppes (from Liets Rolyat). Ancient Coins aren't given every time, so be prepared to use 15-20 scrying stones to get 5 coins.
Completing this quest results in your choice of lanterns, each casting a different color. It also allows you to then open up The Gnoll Cave quest from Tish and the Watch Your Step in the Thundering Steppes, Part 3 quest from Jacques.
