Consumption and Choice
Q: Why do Health/Steam potions auto-consume without me telling it to (by pressing E or R)?
A: Health and Stem quaffs will auto-consume anytime your Helath/Steam drops below the bar (50% by default) dividing the indicator on your HUD. SO remember you only need potions that can replace 50% of your current total Health or Steam! Using stronger potions will waste any extra. Note: You can drag the bar up or down to change what % the quaff auto-consumes at. Ideally, the amount above the bar should equal the strength of the quaffs you are using.
Q: Why does my health/steam potion choice sometimes mysteriously switch to a higher-value potion?
A: Because you ran out of the EXACT potion you originally dragged to the slot! Let's say that you have 10 bound Infused Steam Quaffs and 20 unbound Infused Steam Quaffs and you dragged the stack of 10 bound Infused Steam Quaffs to the R slot. The R slot shows 30 Infused Steam Quaffs but when you run out of those 10 bound Infused Steam Quaffs the system automatically replaces them with your best Steam potion. So if your best is a stack of unbound Miraculous Steam Quaffs that is what gets used even though you still have a stack of unbound Infused Steam Quaffs. This has led to much complaining about buggy potion switching but it is not a bug.

Quaffs are sold by automated vendors called Alchemers. Alchemers in lower-level zones may not sell all quaffs.
