and for those who have not been in fallen gate before "the gate" is a large stone structure that you have to go through at the end of the entrance tunnel. Various mobs around this area are lvl 20 heroics any where from 0 ups to 2 ups.

NPC no longer gives quests. Probably discontinued after 2007 starting zone quest revisions.
I got this quest on 8/15/2007, so it is NOT discontinued.

a Dead Explorer is close before the smoke room, on left side in a small cove (-8,0,-10). Touch him to get update.

As of the patch on 08/09/06 SOE fixed this quest. Go into FG and take a right at the gate and immediately after exiting the gate follow the right hand wall, there's a nook with "a dead explorer" in it, click on this for the lockbox to return to V'Tal. Coords are -9.73, 0, -10.20 Level has been adjusted to 20, reward is now Narin Earring of Exploration (5 AGI, 6 STA, 5 WIS, 15 Health, 15 Power, Level 17, Ear slot) and 2sp 91cp

I'm just lodging a possible suggestion here... I was in FG last night with a group all around 24-25. We got to the pit at the end, there was a Thexian prisoner 20ish vvv surrounded by 6 lvl 25 ^^^s in the center, I suspect the prisoner might hold a clue but can't confirm it since she was killed by accident. If thats the case there is no way this is a lvl 15 quest anymore.

Yes I was trying to do this quest as well. met with lvl 19 mobs, not exactly do-able at lvl 15 if you ask me. I cant seem to get this quest to work either.

I am having the same problem. I contacted SoE and they asured me even after the revamp the quest can be completed. They even suggested that I delete the quest and start again. So I did.
I talked to Iri, then to Ed, then to Na, got guest from Na, went into Fallen Gate, back room into the smoke, killed everything there, no corpes. Help! I must be missing a trigger somewhere.

Went in today with the quest at level 30. Cleared the room, some of the mobs were still green to me. After clearing the room still no corpse.

Ive been trying to get this quest done for weeks and I cant get him to spawn either.Its no fun if you camp for hrs and kill greys,because you have been trying since BEFORE they were greys,and you HAVE to sleep,and then starts all over again!!! Whats UP with this Dran quest!!!...lol

I've killed the mobs in that room for an hour straight and no body spawns. He's not there anymore.

You have to kill the mobs that spawn around i think.. He is a hard spawn i heard.. he will be some dead dark elf laying in back of the room, hail him i think then kill him..

i have sent in a bug report on this and even a csr ticket the repy to the ticket i got was "we can not discuss quests, talk to fellow players to see where you are messing up'

I have been to every corner of Fallen Gate and not been able to find him. FG is all greyed out so I was able to search everywhere. I think they forgot to put him in.

I was in the smokey mist filled room too last evening, a lot of agro mobs, they see invis even while I'm level 26.
If the remains would still be here, then the quest certainly recommended level 30 (in case you'd solo).

I've been here numerous times and never seen the 'a dead adventurer' mob. I tried standing in the room for over an hour, killed all in the room and nothing spawned. I have been coming back to this room since I were level 16 without any success.

This quest is given by V'tal Narin at the Crossroads in The Commonlands. She is seeking information on her brother, and to recover a family heirloom that was lost. Leads point to Fallen Gate.
Enter Fallen Gate and proceed to the gate itself and take a right. Immediately after exiting the gate follow the wall to the right and there's a nook with a dead explorer at -10.20, 0.00, -11.10 , click on this to receive the quest update. Then return to V'Tal who gives you Narin Earring of Exploration.
She then changes into Marinae Laesear!!!
