I did all the quest but the last part says to return to Cannix. 3 mobs spawned after talking to him. it says that if i am a good character i have to help him kill them, but it just starts that part all over after they are dead. it doesn't update my quest at all. - think i'll let them kill him and see what happens

Success comes when preparation meets opportunity -- and EQ is no exception.
I soloed the quest at lvl 38. When you enter the part with General Drull, it is very hard. You will die. Take your lumps when you first enter the instance, because an Orc Spotter will spot you (Illusory Mark or not). Try and root or stun him if you can. If not, just take the death. After you revive, cast Illusory Mark and run along the wall until you get to the very back of the camp or Orcs. You'll see a named. Stay on the back wall and mez his group. Take out the named. I had to deal with 2 more waves, but as long as you stay back, you shouldn't aggro from the other groups. Slow and steady wins the race with these mobs. Just concentrate on your mezzes and let your pet do the damage. It is slow, but you will take out each wave of the mobs...and if you do die, just remember, there will be less of them to deal with next time. Eventually the General will spawn...just focus on him...take him down. He has guards, but if you run around and DoT and DD him, you should be OK.
I finally soloed this one as a necro. I did all the elements in my lower 30s except for General Maulic. As soon as you go into the zone, about 15 guys rush you. As a caster, I never stood a chance. When you die, you're still in the zone. I tried the General's guys every few levels, after having been told that this has to be a group quest. At level 40, I got whacked again when I entered. Can't help that happening. But I got ticked this time and went back for more. Turns out they only rush at you once. I was able to send my pet into groups of 7-8 and wiped the field with them. I could have probably have done this at a much lower level, just never considered sticking my head around the corner again. The General has a couple of dozen guys, and I ran out of juice and pet life and got whacked. Tough group. But I went back at them. Since it's timed zone, respawns are very slow, and the General's guys were a lot less this time. By the time I killed the General, the other groups had respawned in the zone, so you won't likely make it out alive without a long series of combats (again). Anyway persistance does pay off with this quest and it can be soloed.
Like a guy up near the top, I was at the -590 -49 loc in the orc encampment and there was NO statue anywhere near the place.
I finally found one statue by following the directions given in other posts referring to landmarks instead of loc (landmarks I can follow, loc is worthless to me). But I checked, and the loc is identical: -590, -49.
Why is that possible, for there to be two identical locs in completely different areas of the zone? Loc is even MORE worthless to me now.
All I can think is that either a) there are three numbers in the loc, your elevation may have been wrong, or b) you accidentally left a minus sign (-) off.
I finally completed this quest with my Dark Elf bruiser who is a Freeport Citizen. Cannix did not attack me. He was attacked by a Lucanic Knight and two Militia Guards and then I had to kill them to get my reward.
hi found the forgotten no problems but unable to locate the mourned, used the 590 , 49 , 632 which puts me around the orcs ruins south east, cannot find a statue of any sort to click, any clues to what it is, where it is ,not on the icon map ,anyone help ill give them a hug . thanks have fun 8)
To find The Mourned statue, take the Northern road out of the Crossroads (Horse Fly Trail) as if going to the Freeport flight station. Stay on that road, and you will go directly to The Mourned statue.
I got lucky while doing this quest. I did not have to kill a single place holder for any of the mobs. Now I just have to either level up, or find a raid to get the final mob.
I tried the quest again easier this time... Kill the spawn group on the very top of the tower you do not need to kill any other mob. I had to kill group 17 times before Val'marr would spawn... stick with it. 383,-31,215 patience is the key.
Rama'Nai's *exact* spawn point is 600.06, -60.30, -46.88. About every 6 minutes, either Rama'Nai and his friends, or "a wandering pride lioness" will spawn that that point and begin wandering around.
I never did find any placeholdrs after camping the area for over a day in game time, thinking they may spawn at dusk or dawn etc. I logged an alt for a few and cooked some lunch. I came back on as Efaci and discovered Ramanai ready and waiting at (881.49, -58.34, 12.88)
For Return of the light you no longer need to do the BSV access quest .. simply speak to Amulius Ramio who is hidden behind a rock near to the BSV doors, he asks you to kill Mauvin, which then allows you to zone into the correct instance needed for the HQ.
Fogo & Raeg the placeholders for Ogof & Gaer are on 6 minute respawn timers. No AA for any of these...we're not 100% positive we hadn't killed them all before however.
Note on the Lion - kill the lioness' first, then the named. THe Lioness' have low hp (1-hit kills to my lvl 25 swashy), but they will rip you apart if you leave them till last!
This is to confirm Wraithgod's post. Killing the one group on top of the NE Tower, it took about 8 spawns to get the High Priest to spawn, on about a 5-6 minute respawn timer.
I am writing this at 5 am, havent slept yet, and am furious. I've been running around for 5 hours trying to get Rama'nai to spawn. Have killed all Lions/lionesses even killed the wisp whenever he spawned, and am yet to even see his ph. Made a tracker, and he and the wandering pride lioness have not been on track. Does he still spawn by the druid rings, or am I just killing the wrong mobs?
I tried killing all the lions...no luck. Maybe just a coincidence, but I killed a huntsmen near the spawn point (near the druid circle) and BAM! Rama spawned!
I would like to confirm that, for the High Priest of Val'Marr, you simply clear the mobs on the top ledge of the northeast tower in the Ruins of Val'Marr. These are his placeholders. It took us about an hour and a half to figure this out and he spawned after about 5 spawn cycles. He's 20^^^ with two friends that have no modification arrows.
I just started the hard parts of this heritage quest. I grouped with a 31 Wizard and a 26 Assassin. The Assassin knew what was going on for sure. First, a wandering pride lioness is the PH for Rama'nai; I know that was posted before. It is on a 6 MINUTE RESPAWN NEAR THE DRUID RING. I didn't believe the guy, so I timed it and after 3 PH's, Rama'nai spawned. The Orc Captains are in valleys east of BSV. Sergeants Fogo and Reag are their PH's and they are on a 7 MINUTE RESPAWN. Unfortunately, I had to log after killing the Sergeants like 6 times so I didn't get the Captains. Also, look at the Sergeant's names and everyone should realize that their names are the Captains' names spelled backwards. Hope this helps people on this quest.
If you are looking for the priest to pop it may take a couple of times but all you have to do is go to the top of the tower at 378,0,222 kill skelly mob then placeholder of priest will pop. lvl20 ^^^ with three heroics.
Doing this quest was very frustrating for me because of various reasons.
There's tons of different walkthroughs on the net and two different versions of the quest. That doesn't mean anyone is wrong at all, but with the revamp of the Commonlands a lot of things change and some of the older posts aren't very accurate anymore.
Overall you can trust the source the newer it is; I finished the quest paying special attention to the posting dates.
You have to "Hail" him using the "H" key. then he will talk to you if you have the burned out lightstone. You will have to do this each time to talk to him.
Have they changed something? I have a level 30 necro on the Najena server and I killed the wisp, got the lightstone, examined it (it disappeared out of my inventory), and it started the quest. I went to cannix Silverflame to talk to him and I cannot even "Hail" him much less get to any second set of dialogue. Have they put a level limit on this quest?
I found a strange burned out lightstone on the remains of a wisp that I defeated out in the Commonlands. The stone is very different from the other lightstones I've seen in these parts. Maybe I can find someone who thinks it is valuable and get some coin for it.

It looks like I now have in my possession a legendary Greater Lightstone. By following the directions of Cannix Silverflame, I was able to increase the power of the lightstone gradually. Cannix says this object has some importance among his people, too bad he isn't around anymore so I can ask him about it...
The quest is actually many parts, each with their own reward. Each step upgrades you to a new version of the Lightstone, but the quest name never changes. It is a continuance of the quest at all points.
The first thing you need to do is find someone who needs this lightstone. The person who needs it (though the quest gives you no indication) is Cannix Silverflame in the Commonlands ( -310, -47, -362 ) . He is found on the road just outside of the Crossroads. This is a tricky step because the dialogue to advance the quest is found on his second page of text, with the first page of text being the same as he tells anyone if you have the lightstone or not.
The first thing Cannix will ask of you is to touch the Statue of the Mourned and the Statue of the Forgotten with the lightstone. These are both interactive objects in the Commonlands. You right click on them and you will receive an option to touch the statue with the lightstone.
Statue of the Forgotten @ 172, -45, 260
Statue of the Mourned @ -590, -49, -632
After completing this step return to Cannix for your first reward (Faintly Lit Lightstone). He will then ask you to kill Rama'nai in the Commonlands. Rama'nai is a named lion at the Ring of Nature, near where the Lightbringer Wisp spawned. He has two vv lionesses but is relatively easy. He is now stationary at 880.43,-58.87,6.69 .
After killing Rama'nai return to Cannix for your second reward (Dimly Lit Lightstone). Your next task is to kill two Orc Captains in the Commonlands:
Captain Gaer paths near -853, -48, 668 , placeholder is Sergeant Reag.
Captain Ogof wanders around the tower where General Var'Thug is ( -553, 31, 436 ) , he spawns quite fast.
After killing them return to Cannix for your third reward.
The next step is to kill the High Priest of Val`Marr in the Commonlands. He is found at the Ruins of Val'Marr. He is spawned by killing all four mobs south of the ruins at loc 448.28, -49.84, 574.01 . Once you kill all 4 mobs either the high priest or his placeholder will appear near a tower at 384.55, -31.04, 225.23 . If placeholder shows up then you must rinse and repeat. (Tip: Kill the spawn group on the very top of the tower you do not need to kill any other mob)
After doing this return to Cannix. He will then send you to kill General Drull. He can be found in Bloodskull Valley: Maulic's Stronghold, which is a keyed zone (see related quests) but can also be done for this quest without having done the access quest. To access the instance, hail the mob behind the rock by the entrance several times.
After completing this task return to Cannix. A group of three Lucanic Knights appear and attempt to kill Cannix. The hardest mob in this group is a 19^^. Let the knights kill Cannix, and then kill the knights. Once the knights are dead the quest will automatically complete.
Originally this quest had two different endings, with evil characters killing Cannix and good characters defeating the Lucanic Knights. Over time this changed and both alignments now have the same ending to the quest.
