Ok to do this quest I went to Everfrost and went around 96.86,-6.55,-1227.34
and I was getting drops off of these mobs
Kromise Guard
Once I got my one I examined it an accepted the quest
Then I went into PermaFrost (Entrance is at 101.91,-3.71,-1145.18)
I got drops off of these mobs
Ikro Kromise protector
Kromise Virth armsmen
Kromise Virth savage
Kromise pack tamer
The drop rate is low but they will drop you are going to have to kill a lot
of them.

This quest is initiated by examining a Hill Giant Idol. These drop randomly on Giants on any zone.
You must collect and examine 5 more of these idols. Once you have examined the fifth you will be granted the ability to speak the Giant tongue.
The Giant language is needed for the Polished Granite Tomahawk heritage quest and for Drayek's Chamber access.

I have discovered a giant idol with runes on it. If I can collect more of these giant idols from the giants of Norrath I can probably begin to understand the foundation of all the giant languages.
I have learned the basic foundation of all giant languages, Krombral the hill giant language.I studied a number of runes on giant idols and now understand the foundation of all the giant languages, Krombral.

I am having serious issues with this. I have the idols but will only let me hold onto them for use later. Any ideas? Im a level 70, so Im not sure how much later they mean...lol

Heroic Giants seem to drop these more often. At a lower level fighting the solo ones, I got one like every 20 giants. On heroics, I got one every 3 or so. May just have been luck though.

If you can swing it, head to Everfrost and kill the Kromsomething lookouts there. I killed my way up and down the passageway they guard and got 5 idols, after having spent two hours in TS and seeing none.

All of the giants in TS drops these. Goliaths, Scouts and giants. And ^^^, ^^ and v I've seen drops from.. So, just go crazy. By the way, there is a quest to kill 25 goliaths that you might do while maiming giants anyways.

I camped the ^^ giants area as level 33 Ranger and killed a ton of these things, very sparse were the drops if any. I did get all 5 needed for the quest, but took several hours. **You can get the idols off of both heroic and non-heroic mobs, I got some off of both types, so just kill em all**

We camped the entire firerock giant area for a very long time. We're fairly certain now that you can only get the idols of giants that are *not* ^ or ^^. Grps are fine, but only a "firerock giant" will drop. The 2 places to find these creatures are at the north, or better east entrance to the firerock giant area, anywhere around 120, 555. Just run between the 2 areas

I would assume that you can't be too high a lvl to learn this language, right? Idol examination is not starting quest for me.

This quest is required to be able to complete the dragon speak quest. Then once you complete dragon speak quest you can talk to Lord Nagafen.

This quest sucks the big one... camped 5 hours soloing idols killed over 500 giants for 5 idols

Definitely tradeable. Sold one last night for 2gp on the server. Took about 10 mins so I obviously charged too little...hehe.

Found 13 today from gaints and all of them are from chest drop and there tradeable sold 10 of about 3-5 gp

you need to learn the giant tounge if you plan on doing the "axe of the past" quest

Oddly, I received one of these when I was level 23 and was unable to get the quest to activate.
I hit level 24 last night and had forgotten about it, so I will try again and repost.
