You actually need to complete the Teachings of Master Wu collection. Just getting the book from the sanctum isn't enough. I ran and got the book, then couldn't get the quest. After I went back and completed the collection and turned it in, I was able to get the quest.

I suspect that steps 1-5, above, are actually the starter. If any monk out there could tell us at exactly which point you actually receive the quest I would appreciate it! :)

This quest is for the Fabled version of the Monk-only Epic Weapon, The Hand of Serenity.

Pre-requisites:

Command of the Draconic and Sathirian languages.
Complete of The Trial of Tynnonium, Teachings of Master Wu, and Wu's Edict of the Material.
-6000 or better faction with Kunzar Jungle Villagers.

Starter: Have the books Teachings of Master Wu and Journal of Wu, Seeker of Enlightenment in your inventory.

The Journal is the reward for the quest Wu's Edict of the Material in The Lesser Faydark. If you sold or destroyed it, a replacement can be purchased from the Wu Encampment in The Lesser Faydark.
The Teachings is from the Teachings of Master Wu collection quest in Sanctum of the Scaleborn.

Speak with Master Makoto Shoda in Fens of Nathsar. He wanders the beach between Sathir's Span and Omen's Call. He will take your books, but he'll give them back later.
"I need to speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order."

Go to The Pillars of Flame. Take the northmost entrance. Run up the hill and talk to Chronicler Lao at 31, -56, -1184

He will send you out into the desert to find a student. The student is Tobee at 1180, -98, -1178 , out near The Sun Spires. She will be surrounded by some bandits: Korroz the Bandit (83^) and 3 83v bandits. After you speak to the bandits they become aggressive, so you must kill them. Then speak to the student again.
She will give you a book, History of the Hand, and you need to return this to Chronicler Lao.
Speak to Master Makoto Shoda again. He will then return your books and ask you to find 5 blades scattered about the world:

Blade of Balance:Flink the Impish in the Skyfire Mountains region of Jarsath Wastes at -907, 244, 766 .

He will ask you to bring back draconic hearts to balance on the scales against your inner demons. These are semi-rare drops on Wurms, Wyverns and Drakes all over Skyfire. You need 57(!). You want EXACTLY 57. More or less and a large group of enemies will spawn. Take them back and place them on the balance. An 81^ doppleganger of yourself will spawn. Kill it and take blade from scale.

Blade of Peace: From a fire sprite at -268.42,83.39,-45.80 near Solusek's Eye (around rim of lava pit to left from porter) in Lavastorm.

To spawn him you need Kaiaren's Scroll which can be obtained from a grave in Kunzar Jungle at 427, 10, -362 , in a cave behind a waterfall.
Take the scroll to the sprite and he will respawn as Eejag, an 85^^^ heroic. Kill him for blade.

Blade of Order: The Tabernacle of Pain in Kunzar Jungle. This step requires you to speak Sathirian, and to have completed The Trial of Tynnonium for your Shackle Grandmaster title. Go to The Tabernacle of Pain and talk to both of the shackle grandmasters there, then go to -106, -84, 295 and talk to Kindo Youngfist. You must have -6000 or better faction with Kunzar Jungle Villagers to talk to Kindo. Go back to the grandmaster who told you of the blade of order, then challenge him, he is an 85^^^ heroic, so bring some help. During the fight, he may split into three people (one ^^^, one ^^, and one ^) or he may reset agro. Or both.
Blade of Harmony: Shard of Fear. Pulling Terror spawns a level 83 ^^^ heroic monk that adds the encounter when Terror is at 90% (but which you can FD off and then pull the two separately). Killing him awards the blade.
Blade of Tranquility: Sebilis

This is obtained from a sub-quest, The Broken Hand: Bones of the Elder.

Return to Master Makoto Shoda with the five blades. He will send you to find information on how to reassemble the hand. The information is in scattered pages that can be found in Charasis: Maiden's Chamber and Charasis: Vault of Eternal Sleep. Some are ground spawns and some drop from named mobs in the zones.

Maiden's Chamber:

Page 3 - The Hallowed Hall (ground)
Page 4 - bottom of retractable bridge chamber (ground)
Page 5 - Impaler Tzilug (chest)
Page 7 - Drusella Sathir (chest)

Vault of Eternal Sleep:

Page 1 - Golem's mini event room (ground)
Page 2 - bottom of the pit outside the Praetor's chamber (ground)
Page 6 - Praetor of the Phylactery (body loot)

Turn in the collection then scribe the recipe given. Recipe requires:

Craft the diagram at any Work Bench.
Return to Master Makoto Shoda to show him what you have created to complete this quest and receive your reward.

Is it luck or fate that has led me to meet Master Makoto Shoda in Kunark? To better serve Quellious, the sensei has undergone a spiritual journey for enlightenment. I've helped him begin his path by lending him two books I've come across in my travels. In return for the books, he has suggested that I speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order. It is his hope that by doing so, I will begin to walk the same path he now travels.

Stage 1

Master Shoda suggested to me that I should speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order and begin a journey down the same spiritual path that he has begun.

Start:	I need to speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order.
Complete:	I spoke to Chronicler Lao.

Start:	I should find Chronicler Lao's student and make sure she is ok. He said she went out into the desert to meditate.
Complete:	I rescued Tobee from some bandits and received a book.

Start:	I should let Chronicler Lao know his student is okay now.
Complete:	I spoke to Chronicler Lao.

By helping the Chronicler and his daughter, Tobee, I was given a book and information concerning the Hand of Serenity.

Stage 2

Chronicler Lao said that three of the elder monks that carried the blades of the Hand of Serenity traveled to Kunark long ago. Maybe Master Shoda knows what happened to them.

Start:	I should let Master Shoda know that I spoke to the Chronicler and learned about the Hand of Serenity.
Complete:	I spoke to Master Shoda about the five elder monks.

Stage 3

I need to recover the five blades of the Hand of Serenity. The only clues that I have are the directions the elder monks were headed when they disappeared. They are "one went to the dragons", "one went to the north", "one went to the iksar", "one went to the home of his enemies", and "one went into the jungles".

Start:	I need to find and recover the Blade of Balance.
Complete:	I found the Blade of Balance.

Start:	I need to find and recover the Blade of Peace.
Complete:	I found the Blade of Peace.

Start:	I need to find and recover the Blade of Order.
Complete:	I found the Blade of Order.

Start:	I need to find and recover the Blade of Harmony.
Complete:	I found the Blade of Harmony.

Start:	I need to find and recover the Blade of Tranquility.
Complete:	I found the Blade of Tranquility.

I found all five blades of the Hand of Serenity.

Stage 4

Now that I have recovered all 5 blades of the Hand of Serenity, I should return to Master Shoda.

Start:	I should return to Master Shoda near the Lake of Ill Omen.
Complete:	I spoke to Master Shoda.

Stage 5

I need to find the hidden information related to the Hand of Serenity somewhere here on Kunark. Master Shoda believes it contains the means to reforge the Hand.

Start:	I need to find the hidden information related to the Hand of Serenity.
Complete:	I gathered and bound a compilation of notes relating to one Grandmaster Tynn.

Stage 6

The forbidden pages I collected contained a diagram for something Grandmaster Tynn called the Claw of Instruction. Maybe I can use that to reforge the Hand blades into a single device.

Complete:	I recombined the blades!

I should take the Constructed Hand of Serenity to Master Shoda and show him that the blades have been reformed.

I was successful in my quest to recover and rebuild the Hand of Serenity. The journey was difficult, but all will benefit from the path I walked.
