Rooleean at the Spire Shadow Outpost in the Greater Faydark told me that he recently spoke with Lilia, a sage who resides in Kelethin. Rooleean mentioned that she recalled a story from ages past of a high elf paladin named Thurindor that came across one of the shards during the War of the Fae. The story continued, talking of a powerful Teir'Dal mage that had been using the fragment to drain the souls from enemies. He also added that the ancient tomes say that Thurindor took the shard with good intentions into Felwithe to have it destroyed forever, but no one really ever knows what happened to him or the shard.
Stage 1
Lilia's old story told to me by Rooleean tells of a paladin named Thurindor that came across one of the void fragments during the War of the Fae many years ago. It is said that Thurindor took the shard into the old Koada'Dal city of Felwithe to have it destroyed forever. I should make my way into Felwithe and see if I can find Thurindor. Maybe there I will find another clue or something that may lead me in the direction of the next void fragment.

Stage 2
So it turns out that Thurindor, the paladin of old, was actually a shadowknight that had been using the void fragment for his own means. I'm thinking that the old tomes and lore books in Kelethin are going to need an update once word of Thurindor gets back to that city in the trees. Now that I have this third shard, I should to take it to Rooleean for safe keeping.
