Infinite Empire (TOR)

The Rakata rose to heights of technology undreamed of today. Oldest of all known galactic civilizations, much of the presently known galaxy was once under the rule of their Infinite Empire. The Infinite Empire combined technology and Force-use in ways that can only be called Sorcery.
It is known that the Infinite Empire visited Tatooine nearly twenty thousand years ago, and are responsible for the artifacts discovered in the Kashyyk Shadowlands.
Ten thousand years ago, a plaque swept through the Rakata, killing millions and severing the connection to the Force of all survivors. Suddenly defenseless, the subjugated races rose up in revolt and wiped them out. A few survivors made it to their hidden home-world, but succeeding generations descended into barbarism.
The freed slaves founded the governing structure that came to be known as The Galactic Republic.
