I grouped with a lvl 50 character (i am lvl 37), did not get the no update message, and when we killed, i didnt get update either.
Wonder if my interface was buggy about the no-update message, or that theres indeed something wrong with updating

Got it when killed him third time, this time i didnt kill his pet. Just killed him first.

Having problem getting update when killing scholar. Killed him twice now still no update. Do I have to high level, lvl 42 Inquisitor?

Three hour timer isn't true, there was two people who killed him and didn't let me get quest from him, so I stood around and he was up in 20-30 minutes. 3 hours isn't right.

Toria, and others who have had problems getting this quest from Scholar Al'Quylar:
You CANNOT right-click hail him. You MUST target him and then use the keyboard command "hail" ("H" key in my setup). This will initiate the dialogue with him and allow you to begin the quest.

Again - What is with hailing the Charactor - I've been trying for 5 Levels and still nothing ?

Just killed him. Level 40 paladin. Conned green. Here is what I did. I used heal until he ran out of mana. Then I switched to his pet. (Scholar is terrible once out of mana). Killed pet and then went back to scholar. Very easy fight. No trouble. Took a few minutes to kill him, but I have my stone now. =)

You have to target him and click H. He is not hailable like most NPC's.

can somebody tell me what I have to do to hail him? Im lvl 27 and cant hail him to start quest

I tried to kill it at lvl 38 but failed. It's a lvl 35++ with a normal pet (without down arrow). It weird that my groupmate is a lvl 49 bard, but cannot hit it once with melee attack. Not sure it's bugged at that time or it's immune to any melee attack.

Anyone know why I cant Hail him? I am trying to start the Heritage Glowing black stone quest. I am a 29 Warden

I can confirm that he is lvl 35 ^^. He will follow u through the zone if engaged and he will despawn if u zone.

Don't know if there is a specific spawn time, It seems random. We arrived and it was died, waited about an hour and a half and he poped.

does anyone know the respawn time on Scholar after he has been killed?

Scholar is for the Glowing Black Stone quest. Once you turn into him, he will not want to give up the GBS so you must fight him. He will despawn after you kill him.
