The term "Balaur" invokes images of terror and fear for the level of destruction that they caused, and continue to cause, in Atreia. A mighty and highly intelligent race created by Aion to rule the planet's population (including the human races), the Balaur quickly became fixated with power and servitude. Their obsession eventually threatened The Tower of Eternity after violating the restrictions that Aion placed on them, forcing the god to create the Empyrean Lords to safeguard the planet, and its people.

Allies: Tursin Krall, Kaidan Krall, Vishar Krall, Black Claw Tribe, Silver Mane Tribe

Enemies: Asmodians, Elyos

Both the Elyos and Asmodians believe the Balaur are responsible for the destruction of the Tower of Eternity, and the shattering of Atreia. They also blame one another for the circumstances that led up to the Balaur attack upon the Tower.[1]

While the name "Balaur" is applied to the ancient enemy in general, it specifically applies only to the great dragons. These are ascended Drakkan, although it is not by Aether that they ascended and they are not immortal, as Daeva are, and can be permanently killed.

Other sub-races of the Drakkan, such as the Draconutes and Nagarants, are also members of the Balaur.

OOC Wikipedia says "Balaur is a creature in Romanian folklore, similar to a dragon. A balaur is quite large, has fins, feet, and is polycephalous (it usually has three, sometimes seven, or even twelve serpent heads)."
