Heroes Of The Storm College Tournament Announced
Blizzard teams up with TeSPA to bring students a chance to win College tuition.
It's an exciting time to be seeking further education as a College student, as Blizzard Entertainment has announced a partnership with Collegiate eSports and gaming network, TeSPA, to bring you the first official Heroes of the Storm College tournament: Heroes of The Dorm. If you think that's exciting, ESPN will be presenting exclusive live coverage of the event, as students battle it out for more than $450,000 in College tuition and other prizes.
The tournament will be open to all active college students in the United States and Canada, with Beta access to the game being granted to teams once they become fully registered and verified.
The tournament will be played across three rounds of competition:
- Open Qualifiers–March 28
- Single-Elimination Bracket Play(Round of 64)–Begins April 11
- The Heroic Four live event–Held in late April
All five members of the first-place team will receive up to $25,000 per year in college tuition for up to three years of their remaining time in undergrad or graduate enrollment (up to three full years as an undergrad or up to two years as a grad student). College seniors or grad students with no remaining years of enrollment will receive one year's worth of tuition to help repay any remaining student loans, however an equivalent cash prize can be given if the student does not have any remaining student loans. Additionally, each player whose team successfully reaches the Heroic Four event will take home a top-of-the-line gaming PC with peripherals and accessories included.
If spectating is more your speed, you may want to consider taking part in the "Fantasy Bracket" where spectators can share and create their predictions for the tournament's final bracket. Fantasy Bracket participants with the most accurate predictions will partake an a prize pool valued at more than $25,000, including a $10,000 top prize for the top predictions.
It's definitely an exciting time to be a college gamer–or simply an eSports fan–as the Heroes Of the Dorm tournament makes its debut in late March.
