ZAM Awards 2014: PC Game of the Year

We look at an epic RPG experience for our 2014 PC Game of the Year.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

When I wrote ZAM's Dragon Age: Inquisition review in mid-November, I was only about 45-50 hours into the game. At the time, my summary of BioWare's newest entry into the series was that it "feels very well-polished, vast, immersive and highly entertaining" and it was definitely worth running out to own immediately. Now, just over a month post-launch, my fellow co-workers have agreed that Inquisition offers such an epic, quality experience that it is well-deserving of our 2014 PC Game of the Year award.

At the time of this writing, I'm about to hit 200 hours between two completed games and the beginning of a third, and the variety of ways that pieces of the story can be influenced by your decisions offers a huge amount of replayability. If you're not busy working on the main story, chances are you're running around doing side quests, trying to complete area explorations, finishing up shard or mosaic collections, working on crafting, slaying dragons or appeasing your inner circle of richly developed companions and advisors.

...or punching them, because they're jerks.

In the end, what you really need to be is the hero, the Inquisitor, the one who will close the breach and slay the Elder One. How you get there is totally up to you, but it is certainly guaranteed to be one hell of a ride. This is a story that will have you totally engrossed from intro to epilogue, whether you're new or familiar with the series.

BioWare has taken storytelling and the RPG genre to new heights in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and that's why we're happy to name it our PC Game of the Year.

The game is also $20 off on Origin right now through the end of this week, so now is a great time to pick it up!
