Blizzard Reveals a New Title: Overwatch
Blizzard dives into the FPS genre with its new game, Overwatch.
The BlizzCon opening ceremony was full of surprises for many of Blizzard's games, including the announcement of a brand new IP from the company. This new Blizzard title is classified as a team-based first-person shooter that utilizes objective-based maps, interesting and dynamic characters and roles, in addition to fast and exciting gameplay throughout its entirety.
Prepare to become a hero and enter the world of Overwatch.
While Overwatch was only just announced today, you can view an action-packed gameplay trailer that shows off some of the game's heroes and arenas. It was mentioned during the Overwatch panel held after the announcement that the game is designed to be more team-focused, bringing important objectives to each map, and tends to stray away from the typical team deathmatch style gameplay.
The Overwatch team at Blizzard has already revealed 12 different heroes that will be playable at the game's launch, each coming with an interesting backstory and a reason for fighting that falls in line with the lore of the game. While we don't currently have a release date, it was revealed that the Overwatch Beta will begin in 2015. If you're attending the convention this weekend, Overwatch is currently playable on the show floor.
