In what sounds suspiciously like a last minute ratings grab, looks like Ezra Miller's Flash will be joining Ben Affleck's Batman as at least a cameo in the upcoming Suicide Squad.
The next seasons of the Netflix Marvel shows apparently won't be appearing until at least 2018. And Punisher. Shame, I was really looking forward to that one specifically. So if we're keeping loose track, that's Cage in September, Iron Fist and Defenders in 2017, and Jessica Jones season 2, Daredevil season 3, and Punisher in 2018.

Preacher Season Finale was... huh. I'm not sure. I like it, but at the same time I find the whole thing ridiculous and kind of disjointed. Which I could see not appealing to a lot of people.
Jesse: It will be like Lady and the Tramp, but with our butts.
I'm liking the guy from Hell. I liked the depiction of Hell given. He had to relive that day where he slaughtered the town, and his daughter died, over and over for eternity. I wonder if that other Angel is gone for good because he died while in Hell? Also curious if maybe something special about him or his weapon means the one demon lady isn't going to respawn?
The finale left me wanting the next season, so I guess it was successful. I haven't looked it up, but I hope it did well enough for them to keep it going. I didn't watch Hardwick's talk show after it. Maybe they talked about the future of the show with Rogen.
I found the ending more than a little annoying. By blowing up the town, they pretty much just threw away all of the character development that they were working on all season. They might as well just have done a five minute prologue that covered the high points of the first season, skipped season one entirely, and started the show on season two.
Also curious if maybe something special about him or his weapon means the one demon lady isn't going to respawn?
It's a fairly major plot point that (should) be revealed as the show goes on. Also, that is a good representation of Hell. Forget all that fire and brimstone and torture stuff. Your worst day repeated for all eternity? That's a whole 'nother level of torment.

Well, except for Odin Quinncanon they were all just background character. In the book the whole first season is a twenty page flashback of the first issue that the trio are talking about over a plate of fries (The town also explodes because of Genesis, not a methane plant). They just used it to flesh out the main characters, since the book just kind of drops you in.
I enjoyed the season. Some of the liberties they took not so much (making Quincannon a sympathetic "villain" kind of stinks, and maybe probably killing him off), but it took most of the queues from the book and created a prequel of sorts to introduce the characters which worked out in the end. Most people I know don't like what they did with Arseface but he's really not all that important in the book, truth be told. He's more like "Story B." This way made him more part of the story. Kind of disappointed that he takes John Wayne's place but I guess we'll have to wait and see how that plays out. Kind of curious what the beef against Tom Cruise is, but the regular references to his exploding and his corpse being launched into space was amusing for me.
I'm most curious how they're going to do Herr Starr. That is a messed up story, and I'm worried since they neutered the heck out of Quincannon. Seriously, I can't imagine like 90% of the stuff that involves Starr to make it on AMC. I don't think you could do it on Netflix or HBO either, but absolutely not AMC.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming news, UFC fighter Tyron Woodley added to the vast number of actors, probably as a gym teacher. Supergirl Season 2 will bring back Calista Flockhart, but not as a series regular. Also Echo Kellum says his character will suit up in the next season of Arrow as Mr Terrific. Should be interesting to see if they'll paint a T across his face, if you're still watching after last season. I will, because I'm dmub
Review embargo is down for Suicide Squad and it's not looking good. 35% on Rotten Tomatoes and 48% on Metacritic. Considering WB did the exact same thing with the embargo with Batman v Superman I'm not exactly surprised. I still kind of want to see it, since it looks like the kind of movie I actually do enjoy, and like I said I've found I'm a fan of Will Smith so that's enough of a draw, but it's definitely not going to be opening weekend.

Batman The Killing Joke was only 17 dollars for the BluRay/DVD/Digital version. So I picked that up today. Going to watch it later tonight.
I'm going to see Suicide Squad in theaters when it releases. I can't say I'm a fan of Will Smith, I mean, I liked that Wild West movie, and all the MIBs, the first Independence Day.. But I didn't care for the Earth's Gonna Kill You movie (can't remember the name). And I wasn't really interested in his dramas (Concussion, That one where he's selling Portable MRI things). Not because I think they were probably bad movies, but just because that type of drama just isn't my thing.
Edit: Killing Joke felt short. I know it's a relatively short story, but for 1 hour 15 minutes, it went by pretty quickly. The "controversial" part of the story wasn't even that bad. (Not the original stuff, the part that came out during comicon.)
There are a few extras on the disc. Including a Sneak Peak of Justice League Dark. A few other extra clips and shorts that I haven't tuned into yet.
Edit2:
I started seeing this trailer all the time on TV. Stephen Lang.

T-Mobile had a free ticket offer yesterday so the wife and I are going to see it on Friday night. Like you said, the reviews aren't looking promising but at least we won't have overpaid.
It occurs to me that giving away a giant pile of tickets (which were technically "bought" through Fandango via voucher code) is an easy way to boost opening weekend numbers on a lousy film.
I end up only half paying attention by the time those commercials come on, but they keep saying "by the (my attention has already drifted at this point) Evil Dead" and I just kind of thought it was Sam Raimi, which is great. I like his goofy horror movies. Turns out it was Fede Alvarez who did the Evil Dead remake. Which is fine, since I'm all for goreporn, but Raimi movies are a special kind of flick for me. Just kind of set myself up for that disappointment. I mean, it still looks like a decent movie for it's genre. Just ... you know, not Raimi.

"Agents of SHIELD's" Official Season 4 Synopsis wrote:
“MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.†(Tuesdays from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET)
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.†returns with a vengeance for the fourth exciting season in an all new time period, Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET. In the aftermath of their journey to another planet, Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team were driven more than ever to put an end to the Hydra organization. Little did they know that they were up against the deadliest threat they’ve ever faced – an extremely powerful Inhuman, Hive, who was transported back from Maveth in the body of their worst enemy, Grant Ward.  The team was able to thwart and kill Hive and take down Hydra, but they are all still mourning the death of fellow agent and Inhuman, Lincoln Campbell.
In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past.  But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good.  Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.
Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) will roar into the lives of Agent Coulson and the team as a junkyard mechanic who can turn on a dime into the terrifying Ghost Rider. Will Robbie be a friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. – as well as the world, itself?  Meanwhile, Fitz discovers that socially awkward genius and friend Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) has started putting the finishing touches on a new, secret invention.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.†stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons and Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack†MacKenzie.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.†was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
Aww, Coulson gets demoted and still not liking the possibility of Ghost Rider being an Inhuman or science related in any way.
If anyone was following Bendis' Powers on the Playstation Network, I'm sorry to say it'll be ended after it's second season. I can only speculate that it's due to low ratings because no one uses the Playstation Network.

Apparently a group of Suicide Squad fans have started a petition on Change.org to get rid of Rotten Tomatoes cause it gave the movie bad reviews.
It's just hard to take the conspiracy theory seriously when so far WB has been 0/2 with cape movies being worth their ticket prices. Also Warner Brothers owns like 30% of Rotten Tomatoes. There's a new conspiracy theory going around that WB is purposefully tanking their theatrical releases to boost blu-ray sales.
And to use that to badly segue into revelations, a few months ago there was a joke casting going around that Michael Keaton would be the Vulture, since his last big movie was Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Well, jokes on us since it was confirmed that Keaton will be Adrian Toomes in Spider-Man: Homecoming afterall. Well played.
In some initial good news for WB/DCEU, Suicide Squad opened Wednesday with just north of $8m overseas, which is better than what Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool did, but that one was R so not totally comparable. Estimates put it at around $100m international, and $125 domestically. Doesn't really indicate quality or anything, but initial interest in the movie is certainly proven to be pretty high. DC really needs a win.

Katie McGrath will join the cast of Supergirl as Lena Luthor, a "beautiful, powerful, and enigmatic for arriving in National City to rebrand Luthor Corp as a force for good." So, you know, villain. Also there is apparently a leaked video from the set with Superman fighting "someone" who is probably Metallo, and some set photos showing some Metropolis. That'd be kind of neat. Matthew MacCaull will be Commander Steel in Legends of Tomorrow.

Suicide Squad was... not great. Not horrible and it was more fun than, say, any Fantastic Four movie but it was disjointed and overstuffed. Margot Robbie was easily the best part of the movie and Will Smith second but they couldn't carry the whole thing. Sword Girl was completely useless and you'd never miss her if she was gone. Boomerang Guy and Captain Crocodile had one or two decent lines or gags but were otherwise sidelined. The military guy was just flat and you never really cared about him or his tortured romance with the Sorceress. Diablo was pretty good.
Sorry folks, but Jared Leto's Joker was shit. Any time anyone criticized him from the stills or trailers it was all "Oh, you need to wait until you SEE the movie! Everyone though Heath Ledger would suck and he was so great!" -- Yeah, well, I've seen the movie and this ain't no Heath Ledger's Joker. Just completely unconvincing as either a maniacal genius or a terrifying psychopath. It wasn't just the dumb tattoos or grill or whatever, he just wasn't acting the part well.
As I said, the story felt disjointed and took a long time to gel into anything semi-coherent. I'd heard rumors that originally all the laugh lines were in the trailer and they went back and re-shot more humor into the film because people responded well to it. I don't know if that's true or not but I could believe it because the mood felt uneven like that. And not even like "Here's a serious scene that someone disrupts with a funny line and you laugh because of the broken tension" but just "Here's two serious scenes that we plugged a couple laugh lines between". Anyway, the film overall just didn't work as much of a buddy flick (only Robbie & Smith had any chemistry and I don't mean romantic), wasn't anything exceptional in the world of action flicks and the Bad Guy/Girl was practically a McGuffin just to have the team together. It's not a totally worthless movie and Robbie/Smith will probably make you chuckle a few times but you can definitely wait for the home version or discount theater showing.
Edit: Oh, and trailers. We had Wonder Woman (same as SD Comic-Con), Assassins Creed (looks like garbage), Dunkirk (trailer was just a shot of UK soldiers in a landing craft hearing a plane coming overhead and ducking in terror), War Dogs (What if Lord of War was a comedy, you'd want that right?) and Dr. Strange which looked okay enough although I wasn't especially excited about it. Also, the twisting city effects just made me think "Oh, looks like Inception" which isn't really the movie's fault but it didn't have a ton of impact either.
Finally, our showing of Suicide Squad was sold out although I suspect a LOT of those were from T-Mobile's free ticket offer.
More or less what Joph said. There was too much going on trying to establish all of the characters and only a couple of them ended up having an sort character arch. I didn't hate Leto's Joker, I thought he did a good job with what they gave him. He's just really not that relevant to the story. He could have been left out and you wouldn't really miss him. I have a feeling he was only put in there because of how boring the actual villain is, they needed someone else that was more interesting to spice things up a bit, but it really didn't work.
I'd put this movie on par with BvS, it's not terrible, but it's not very good either.
As an aside, the theater I was in only had about twenty or so people in it, and the AC was doing it's job too well. By the halfway point, I was glad I wore jeans instead of shorts, and by the end I wish I'd brought a jacket.
Turns out I won't be seeing it this weekend. Too nice outside, and I've been putting siding up on my garage. Going to put the electrical panel and meter base in tomorrow and continue siding.
More or less what Joph said. There was too much going on trying to establish all of the characters and only a couple of them ended up having an sort character arch.
I'm not sure what they were going for. I mean, you can do an ensemble "heist" type movie with minimal exposition on each character (think Ocean's 11) and have it work. I think they spent too much time trying to humanize some of them that was unnecessary. Yeah, they're villains but audiences will relate positively to a protagonist who is amoral and a bad guy if he's funny, exceptionally skilled, generally bad ass, or some other larger-than-life trait. I didn't need a bunch of ham-handed daughter scenes to make me care more or less about Deadshot. Just don't show the protagonists murdering grandmas or raping children and we're probably okay.
Couple spoiler-iffic comments about characters: El Diabo:Wait, what? His family story wasn't as sappy or annoying as Deadshot's, so that's good. But, at the end he... turns into some flaming Aztec god thing? And fights the other metahuman-god-wannabe? Is there a reason WHY he turns into a flaming Aztec god thing? Is he actually some flaming Aztec demigod or is he just a metahuman who decided to make flaming Aztec god his Final Form or wha? Then he blows up and that's that. Killer Croc:So the divers are going to go into the tunnel and retrieve the charge and KC is all "This is my home, you're just tourists" and dives in and swims around all croc-like. Sure, cool. But then he does NOTHING. He beats up one or two mutant-alien-transformed things but so do the divers. You'd think he'd at least be the one to get the charge and place it after the "tourist" divers failed but nope. One of the military divers does all that like "Thanks for tagging along KC, but we didn't actually need ya...". Why was this guy even in the story?
And non-spoiler stuff I'm tagging anyway: Boomerang GuyYou throw a boomerang. That's it. That's not even a super power. That's not even special for comics: there's another guy in DC comics who throws custom boomerangs all the time and he's like a million times better known than you. You're on a team with a guy who can shoot anything and hit it. With bullets. Why are you on this special squad of metahumans? Why are you in this movie? Did the evil government black lady decide to make a special task force of metahumans and then realize that they only had three in custody but six explosive rice thingies? Harley QuinnYou also don't have any special powers that I know of but just about any scene worth watching was because of you. And, despite a few fan service shots of your ass, it was your personality that pulled it off. That said, a little HQ goes a long way so sadly you couldn't carry this film. Sword LadyYou could have been replaced by a tree for all the difference it would have made to this film
Shame about Suicide Squad. Everything I've read, including your opinions, leads me to believe it's a pretty medium of the road movie which sacrificed a lot of characterization and disjointed by editing. Thanks for taking the proverbial bullet.

Season 2 of Lucifer starts soon, and Michael Imperioli from Sopranos will be joining as Lucifer and Amenadiel's brother Uriel. Gotham hints at bringing in Harley Quinn and Croc. Also rumor has it that Fox is in "significant talks" for more X-Files episodes, which could be neat. The short season they aired before wasn't so bad, if rushed. Patrick Stewart says that the new Wolverine movie, where Jackman apparently plays Mel Gibson as the Transporter for whatever reason, will most likely be his last appearance as Professor X on a movie. No word on whether or not he'll continue to look like Charles Xavier in real life, but seeing as how he hasn't aged in like thirty years there's a good chance he'll stay.
Suicide Squad seems to be doing what the rest of WB's DC outings weren't able, and bringing in money. There was like a 40% drop between Friday and Saturday, but that can be explained by T-Mobile's free ticket giveaway so the real drop probably wasn't nearly that drastic. Guess we'll see next Monday whether the movie actually has what it takes or if this is just another case of front-loading.
Charisma Carpenter from "Angel" and "Buffy" to show up on Lucifer. New rumor floating around that Momoa is set to be the next Eric in the on life support for thirty hours of pain Crow reboot. Kind of unlikely, since, you know, the movie studio that was making it went bankrupt a while back. More believable and related to Momoa but still a rumor is that the main villain in the Aquaman movie will be Black Manta.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter teaser trailer, finding Alice returning to Raccoon City. I've seen all of the movies but for the life of me I can't remember anything from them.

There's going to be a two episode Flash / Supergirl musical crossover. Musical episodes are always stupid, and always worth watching. Now if they can just get Neil Patrick Harris. Two more for Supergirl, since CW is apparently going hardcore into bringing it into the fold, but one Kevin Smith will be directing a second season episode because he made friends with everyone, and Sharon Leal and Chris Wood will be showing up as M'gann M'orzz (Hi Megan!) better known as the White Martian Miss Martian and Mon-El who comes from a different planet but is pretty much a Kryptonian proxy. It was revealed that Mon-El will be who will emerge from the pod from the last season's finale, crushing everyone who wanted to see a dog in a cape.
Legends of Tomorrow finds it's Obsidian in amazing actor Lance Henriksen, the creepy dad from Pumpkinhead, creepy star from Millenium, and creepy robot from the original Aliens trilogy. Considering the shadowy deal of the character, pretty good casting. Also in a bit of "damn now I have to watch" news Dolph Lundgren to show up in Arrow's season 5 Russia flashbacks, which I guess means there's going to be a boxing montage. Parminder Nagra to be an "Anti-Inhuman politician" on Agents of SHIELD.
And another Flash speedsters villain being brought in, Mark Waid and Oscar Jimenez's '90s creation Savitar, whose unique claim to fame was his knowledge of transferring speed from one source to another and making Speed Force shields. If the last two seasons are any indication, then that's what Barry learns to defeat the season's main bad guy.

It wasn't bad. But the season finale didn't really leave me wanting more. I didn't care of the "Kyle's daughter has super powers too" thing. I mean, Kyle's mother didn't seem to have the "touch". And with Kyle's daughter having it, it seems to be something "bloodline" related. But it was almost moving earlier into something along the lines of Kyle being possessed by a unique spirit. An Outcast from this Underworld that they are coming from. I was imagining something like Hell's Satan (you know, a powerful spirit that rebelled against its ruler). But the finale there kind of nixed that idea.
I think I had the same problem with Outcast as I do with both Walking Dead series. The pacing seems to change every episode. Like a million things might happen one episode and then the next absolutely nothing. I'm just not a fan of that rollercoaster style of storytelling. The episode explaining Data's change was good, though. We don't really know what he'll do in the future, but as far as the info we have the new spirit that is in his body is a "better person" than the one that it took over.
Suicide Squad is still making bank, kind of similar to Guardians of the Galaxy's path, though there is a bigger dip between opening weekend (Suicide Squad had more) to Monday (Guardian's second Monday was higher). Overall it of course doesn't say anything about the quality or how many people saw it, but I'm just happy that a DCEU is doing financially well because maybe this will convince WB that Zack Snyder's attempts are what the audiences didn't like and try to push him further away from the future projects.
Which, speaking of, Ray Fisher's Cyborg movie might still be questionable at this time, but the character is slated to show up in Ezra Miller's Flash. Still no word whether that stupid red Iron Man costume will be in the movie or not, but it's certainly not convincing me to go to a theater to see it.
There's some alleged reports stating that Jared Leto is angry over being misled about his Joker role in Suicide Squad. Much like the audience, he was apparently lead to believe he had a much bigger role than the seven~ish minutes that he actually showed up.

Rumor, according to "two individuals with knowledge of the project" Zendaya will be Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming. She's going to look awkward with red hair.
Marvel's Runaways is apparently going to show up on Hulu. The first two books were really good so that's some neat news, though why Hulu other than to annoy me and create a third "connected but not really" world for stories. Fourth, I guess, since Cloak & Dagger still seem to be on track to show up on the Freeform channel, which is apparently the "high school drama channel."
In casting news, Jared Leto has officially joined the Blade Runner reboot, which I'm sure he hopes will last more than seven minutes. Mallory Jansen from Gallavant will be an AI program in Agents of SHIELD. Ashley Rickards will be Rosalind "Rosa" Dillon, the Top, in Flash, which means Mirror Master probably in the near future. Also Joey King as Magenta, a magnetism based villain. Wil Traval moves to Arrow as "The Human Target."

Jona Xiao from "Halt and Catch Fire" in Spider-Man: Homecoming. At this point I'm wondering if any of these people will have actual speaking roles or if they're just filling in crowds.
