My DVR cut short, so I didn't catch the very last moments of Gotham. I saw up to the point where they were wheeling that Firefly gal down the hallway and talking about the suit being melted to her, and she being fireproof. They flashed a few images through the windows and doors as they went and I was trying to see if I should recognize anyone, but I did not. And then it stopped so I don't know who all was supposed to be there.
And I missed Super Girl. Looks like I'll have to watch it either on Demand when ever it gets on there, or on Saturday when it airs the pilot again.
And then it stopped so I don't know who all was supposed to be there.
They rolled her into a room that said something about Wayne Enterprises on the wall and that was it. You didn't miss all that much. It was a little cathartic when Alfred punched Bruce. That was nice.
Let's see. Common to be John Wick 2's villain, and Henry Czerny as Toyman for Supergirl assuming the show lasts that long. As far as ratings go though, apparently Supergirl's pilot scored big in key demographics and edged out Blindspot as the highest rated series premiere of Fall. Personally, I'm writing it off as "it's a superhero genre premiere" as the explanation, and we'll see how the show's ratings really hold up with the next few episodes. I haven't read anyone enjoying it, but admittedly everywhere I have read about it amounts to confirmation bias so not reliable at all.
Friday, October 30th there will be a Evil Dead marathon on STARZ just before the midnight premiere of Ash vs The Evil Dead. All three Bruce movies back to back, with segments in between with the man himself in between I believe, if I remember the commercial correctly. The second movie pretty much writes the first movie out of the canon so there's that to consider, but overall I'll be all over that myself. Or maybe not, since Game 3 of the World Series is Friday. Damn you Mets, the one time in the last fifteen years you make it here and it has to be during an Evil Dead marathon.
My number one draft pick for Captain Marvel, Olivia Wilde, weighs in on the role. Hopefully it at least boils down to her (getting the role) and Ronda Rousey who is still fighting for the role. I think I could appreciate either.

it was "ok". Kinda stock story though. And a bit hokey in spots (but then this is a superhero show, so what do you expect?). They checked all the boxes, but nothing really grabbed me. Only a one hour pilot though, so it may just be too early to tell. They did do a good (and quick) origin bit, which worked, and they did put in a really nice hook into upcoming villains (so easy to justify threats to her). Also put in drama potential, so that was good. Honestly, for me, it's just that the character herself didn't really click with me. But that may just be a matter of time to get the personality right. Dunno.
The only bit that actually annoyed me, and it's admittedly a silly nit, is a basically throwaway line by her adopted sister making a point about how advantaged Kara was growing up, with the example being her alien biology making her immune to pimples. Which would have been a cutesy familial moment between sisters if I weren't totally distracted by the obvious chicken pox scar on Supergirl's forehead. Yeah, yeah, actress is just playing the part, suspension of disbelief, yadda, yadda. Still, totally stepped on the line. Or maybe it's just me. Yeah. Probably just me.
But that may just be a matter of time to get the personality right. Dunno.
Well, the ratings at least guarantee two seasons, if they keep up even more of course. I may be a bit bitter in that this show is going and Constantine is a glorified cameo now. If I remember correctly, I think I liked her personality and just had issues with how hamfisted some of the social commentary was and it's attempts to latch onto the coat tails of the below average Man of Steel movie. I'd confirm it, but I don't want to search through this thread and my head hurts enough as it is.
Had to take a nap or two after last night's ordeal, so I'm slowly catching up on last nights shows. Flash had King Shark, which was nifty, and Wells-2 which was also nifty because he's such a good actor when outside a bathtube. Also something about Iris' mom dying and a potential brother. Tokamek and Nu-Firestorm were both amusing distractions but seemed a bit rushed.Watching SHIELD now.Damn, poor Fitz, losing the love of his life to Space Ward.
Newsy, Andre Tricoteux says that his portrayal of Colossus in the upcoming Deadpool movie will be more faithful to the comics, which leads those of us with suspicious personalities to ask "so which characters aren't going to be faithful to the comics?" Also, as far as faithful to the comics and Colossus is concerned, I wonder if that means he'll martyr himself or become irritatingly whiny about love/family life not being fair. And over in Gotham, Nathan Darrow is being brought in to be Victor Fries, presumably pre-snow cone. Chris Pine confirmed he'll be in the Wonder Woman movie, and I guess it's too late to hope they pull a War Machine and recast Gal Gadot at this point.
In good news for me, STARz has already signed for a second season of Ash vs The Evil Dead. I'm going to celebrate by watching the movies and reading the comics, assuming the World Series doesn't kill me.

Pom Klementieff cast for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.2, though details are scarce beyond that. I'd bet Mantis. Maybe Moondragon. Also, rumors floating around about the Captain America: Civil War trailer's release. Some say it'll show attached to the next James Bond movie, Spectre, while other sources say Disney is going to hold it a little closer to the vest and release it sometime in December. And in a move that would surprise absolutely no one anywhere, Ruffalo recently spoke about his role on the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok flick, "teasing" that Hulk will go a few rounds with the Asgardian who has yet to really score a big hit of his own. BD Wong, from Jurassic World, cast as the head of Arkham Asylum Hugo Strange. That should be interesting. Also, Kristen Hager joins Nathan Darrow as his wife Nora Fries, which is all but bad news for her.
Lionsgate's Power Ranger remake casts it's Yellow Ranger. Becky Gomez, a singer-song writer so we can speculate that there'll be at least one song that isn't GO GO POWER RANGERS on the soundtrack.
Amazon Prime to stream episodes of Lucifier shortly after airing to the UK, and in honor of that here's a trailer.

Apparently Ash vs the Evil Dead aired last night shortly after midnight.
I DVR'd it, along with the Evil Dead marathon. After watching it all one after another, it's amazing how there is like no continuity at all. First movie it's Ash and his friends go to the cabin, and they all die. Next movie it's just Ash and his girlfriend, and Ash survives and is sent to the past. Then it's all the past but doesn't really spend much on the previous movies. Now the show says that it was with friends at the cabin afterall, and so far no mention of the events in Army of Darkness. As far as the last point is concerned, this was the first episode so who knows. Seeing Lucy Lawless was nice, and overall it was as amazing as I thought it would be, but I am bias towards Campbell flicks in general so take that as you will. My one major complaint was during the sequence in the house where the police woman took out her secondary weapon, that tiny peashooter, and BLEW THE DEMONS HEAD CLEAR OFF WITH NO RECOIL. THAT WEAPON DOES NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF KICK.
In other faux news, rumor from unnamed sources state that Marvel is considering changing their Netflix lineup to replace Iron Fist with a Punisher series, and push Iron Fist into a full length motion picture. I think that's a monumental bad move for one reason. Into the Badlands is coming out soon, and it looks like it's going to kick off a new martial arts fad and Iron Fist on the cusp of that would be instant money.
Preacher trailer dropped last night, and while I generally like vague commercials, I think this was way too much of too little. I mean, I guess not going into details of what really happens is great for reveals and cliffhanger endings, but the trailer just makes it sound like a show about a normal, yet badass, priest who isn't afraid of violence. I mean, okay yeah that's a bit of Jesse Custer but there's so much more about the series. Anyway, if anyone missed it (I did. Fasteriskscking Familia ... ), here it is.
And finally for now, Anthony "The Falcon" Mackie claims that Captain America: Civil War will be "relevant to the current modern political climate." Which I guess will be lots of mentions of things like Ferguson and such. I can't imagine that as good, but then again we won't know until we see. It's good to make statements, but I for one don't want to pay money to sit in a theater and watch CNN for two/two and a half hours.
Apparently not as finally as I assumed, believe it or not Fox has apparently given a pilot production commitment to a revival of the 80s comedy-drama "Greatest American Hero." Rumors state it isn't too far off from the original premise, where an ordinary person who is content with being average is given a silly suit that gives him super powers and has to deal with the complications that arise. With great powers comes great reluctance. I'll be happy if they keep the theme song.
Oh, and Tommy Flannigan from Sons of Anarchy will show up in Gotham this season as a "remorseless hitman" named The Knife. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that his gimmick involves stabbing and cutting.

I read that they had issues with the rights to that, at least in the beginning, and they didn't get the rights until after they already started filming.
The Preacher teaser was just enough to make me want to know more. Since, I haven't heard of the series before, I did some looking and I have to agree that they should have revealed a bit more. I would not have that there was anything supernatural about the plot from what they showed.
Come on man, the obvious answer is that it was a flock of Penguins. Also looks like we finally found out how she became the Ghost of Christmas Present. Melissa Benoist makes a cute Supergirl.

Jessica Jones episode titles and spoilery synopses leaked from Netflix, because why not? I think I'm at the point where I'm surprised the episodes themselves aren't leaked. Happens so often. Unspoiler at your own risk. Made it nice and overly complicated. Me? I actually didn't read them, truth be told. Copy, paste, and then lots of copying and pasting. AKA Ladies Night:Jessica Jones is hired to find a pretty NYU student who’'s vanished, but it turns out to be more than a simple missing persons case.
AKA Crush Syndrome:Jessica vows to prove Hope’s innocence, even though it means tracking down a terrifying figure from her own past.

AKA I’ve Got The Blues:Jessica searches morgues for clues. Trish goes all out to keep Simpson from getting in Jessica’s way. Malcom has an epiphany.
AKA Take a Bloody Number:The hunt for Kilgrave reunites Jessica with Luke. Trish receives some unexpected information about Simpson and Jessica.
AKA Smile:Jessica and Luke get help from someone else in the neighborhood. Kilgrave gears up for a major test of powers against Jessica. The show's official synopsis. Some Deadpool bulletpoints -
Wade Wilson Weport wrote:
While it's common belief among fans that someone involved in the "Deadpool" test reel footage was responsible for leaking it online in 2013, the film's director Tim Miller swears it wasn't him -- though star Ryan Reynolds insists it was.
And that's just one of the revelations the pair shared in interviews with Latino Review and Collider on the set of the upcoming Fox movie.
Among the aspects of the movie the pair discussed is the fact that Morena Baccarin's character, Copycat, will be superpowered, though her abilities will not be revealed in an obvious manner. In the comics, she's a shapeshifter, which would appear to be an ability that would be readily apparent, so it remains to be seen whether she maintains that ability in one screen, or if her powers have been adjusted.
Other bits of notable information, some new, some re-affirmed, include:
The original costume had fake muscles, resulting in an overly-bulky Deadpool. The final costume is streamlined, with "100% USDA Ryan Reynolds underneath," and a crotch area that is to Reynolds' liking.
In an homage to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, they made sure to give the character plenty of pouches, some of which have things in them, some of which do not.
Colossus is both the film's "straight man" and the gateway into the rest of the X-Men's film universe. Miller says he was initially afraid that Fox would make them not use a character that was "in the other X-men films, but I’m so glad they didn’t because he’s the perfect straight man."
Garrison Kane is, indeed, not in this film, though he may appear in a "Deadpool" sequel.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead's role in the story came about when her name was added to a list of potential characters as a joke.
The film's soundtrack is an homage to the '80s and '90s. "If it looks like any of the nostalgic choice of music that we are chasing 'Guardians [of the Galaxy],' look at the script that was leaked years ago," Miller told Latino Review. "It has all these music references. [Writers] Rhett [Reese] and Paul [Wernick] had it first."
Miller told Collider to quote him in saying that this is a pansexual Deadpool, while Reynolds claims there was a photo shoot that involved "some unicorn *******."
"Deadpool" opens on February 12, 2016.

Ken Marino, who the three people in the world know from Children's Hospital, to join Agent Carter's second season as a leader in the Maggia crime syndicate. Finally we move away from Hydra, and in favor of a truly unique group for the MCU. Hydra is basically Nazi AIM, and AIM is basically ... well, AIM without the beekeeper outfits. So a little mafia to spice things up, and while I'd prefer it in Modern MCU, I'll more than happily accept it in 1940s MCU. Supergirl to add Emma Caulfield as an FBI agent named Cameron Chase and a picture or two of Brit Morgan as Livewire. Apparently Time Warner CEO is considering holding out on putting DC Comic shows on Netflix and Hulu (Flash, Arrow, Supergirl) in favor of cable subscriptions...
Like somehow users who watch these shows only on Hulu or Netflix will suddenly decide that a 50-100 dollar a month cable subscription is the way to go, rather than you know... other, less legal, streaming methods.

Or they realized that if they put too much content on Netflix and Hulu, their existing subscribers might get annoyed that they're not getting their money's worth, and start dropping their subs. You do understand that the people who actually pay for cable subscriptions somewhat reasonably expect that they should have priority on new content, right? New content shipped off to Netflix and Hulu should be stuff aimed solely at audiences who would not otherwise have a cable subscription anyway. Any reasonable amount of overlap on a show should always be released on the cable network, for what should be obvious reasons.
There are a lot of people who don't bother subscribing to Netflix or Hulu specifically because they figure that their cable subscription should more than provide for their viewing needs/desires. They see a cable sub as the "premium" method of obtaining content and expect to get first crack at new stuff as a result. Put too many new shows into other web based sources, or worse, make them web based only, and you're just gutting your own customer base.
Arrow and Flash already lag well behind cable on Netflix. I took the comment as meaning even further. I mean, it's not like they are putting them on Netflix as they air. The previous season appears to come out sometime shortly after the next season begins, or sometime later, near the middle.
On a side note, I still don't have The CW in HD through my provider... SD Flash and Arrow is annoying.
That's not how "encase in lead" works, Kara. I'm going to have to settle on facing that I'm just not Supergirl's target demographic. I think with three episodes down we can rule it a romdram, with hints at cape action. Kind of the reverse with what Flash is doing, where the focus is mainly the superheroics and the romance is present but not the focus. I don't think that particular formula worked for Thor very well, and that had Tom Hiddleston trying to save it. At least Gotham has Nygma, Cobblepot, and Jerome antics.
For anyone interested, Z Nation has been renewed for a third season, which thanks to the magic of syndication pretty much assures a fourth season as well.
Speaking of Netflix, have another Jessica Jones trailer.

That includes previous writers and cast members, as well as a potential new host, a mad scientist and voices for wise-cracking robots Tom Servo and Crow. “Basically, I’m trying to blend the old with the new,†Hodgson says. “’Mystery Science Theater’ has already refreshed itself once with a completely new cast, so I think it deserves to do that again. Fox released it's Winter 2016 schedule, and Lucifer finally has a premiere time and date, Monday January 25 9pm, while Sleepy Hollow moves to Fridays 8pm starting February 5. Bones on the other hand, while kind of irrelevant here doesn't seem to have a renewal day. X-Files starts Sunday January 24 10pm, then the second episode is the following Monday just before Lucifer and I believe that's it's permanent slot until it's over.

Quick shows thoughts: I complained about relationship drama in Supergirl, so I'd be remise not to do the same every time Barry complains about his life and tries to get himself killed. At least Candy Man, Candy Man, Candy Man Zoom is a neat villain. Pretty much curb-stomped Barry with his own abilities. On that topic, Felicity still hasn't been thrown off a bridge, but at least Iron Ant-Man is coming along nicely. I thought Lash would last longer in Agents of SHIELD, but I also thought they'd drag Simmon's Space Adventure a little longer, too. Speaking of, every scene with Fitz is more heartbreaking than the last. Poor guy, in love with a girl with the relationship attention span of a fruit fly.
If anyone liked Snowpiercer, apparently there is work being done to adapt it to television. Seemed like a pretty straight forward on the rails movie so I don't think it'd do well being episodic.

Since we know [the characters'] origins, we can go in some weird, unique and different territory."
As to the Wasp, he said, "It just happened to be organic for the characters of Ant-Man and Wasp, [so] it worked... Her last line in the movie -- 'It's about damn time' -- [is] very much about her specific character and arc in that movie, but it is absolutely about a larger thing. It's about damn time: We're going to have a fully realized, very very complicated hero in the next movie who happens to be a woman."
Dr. Strange adds Amy Landecker, in another role that is being kept under wraps for the time being.
X-Men: Apocalypse trailer to first appear during Star Wars: Force Awakens, so good call for Fox, since there is going to be a lot of people seeing that since tickets have been sold out for like a month now.
