I feel like creating a new post here is like giving a 'breath' while CPR is being performed on the forum. It's probably not doing much but buying time. What even is a fanbyte and what is it's business model?

Two days ago for first time ever I signed up for "e-trade". I'm nearly 50 years old and have always wanted to own at least a couple stocks. Be a big shot. And I have almost no idea what a stock is. But there seems to be an amazing thing last couple days where random commoners could make money.
Did you do this to buy GameStop shares?

Anyone get in on the GME stock party?

I'm not sure where to come down on this. It's pretty cool that a reddit group of average joe gamers was able to get the best of the big brokers. But it is market manipulation. However, imo, short-selling is also manipulation of the market.

I do think it was pretty crummy for Robinhood to halt sales of the stock when it became clear that it was costing Wall Street.

Smash needs to be summoned to tell how one should feel about this.

I figured I was too late for GameStop. But I remembered poopooing bitcoin when it first came about, and if I hadn't maybe I'd be a millionaire now.

Again, I don't really understand the stocks. My e-trade account is a foreign language. Stop. Put. What the fuck is that. I just hope I don't accidentally sign away any of my alleged children. But I've wanted to buy stocks for many decades, because I think it's neato, and maybe they would send me mail or money or something and also I could attend a shareholder meeting like a big shot.

I think the redditors are HEROES!! The US government bails out frackers and airlines and banks etc. to the tune of trillions every few years. And in this case a few plebes "make" a few billion and it's cause for alarm? It's more that the Wall Streeters saw a breach in their castle and sought to fix it so the rabble would stay out. Stay tilling the fields for them. And also, the stock market seems completely detached from the bread and butter economy. Pandemic, 30,000,000 losing their job, and the stock market is booming? Are all stocks mortician, house moving, and corpse-bag companies?

Market manipulation is also: $30 billion to useless suck company Boeing. $2 trillion to banks. $800 billion per year to war profiteers. Many of which are bestowed by shareholding members of the very legislators who bestow that money. Meanwhile companies like Amazon pay $0 in taxes. $0. I'm not an anarchist, but am more on the Brad Pitt, F Society, Guy Fawkes side of the street.

Have a great year, everybody!

I bought 10 when it was at 52 and got out at 325 so that was a quick $2,500. Smiley: popcorn

And your popcorn .gif is totally appropriate and funny, like most ever. I'm not joking. Rock on!

This forum, as much as anything, should be remembered for it's emotes. There is no Wiki page for Allakhazam's Magic Realm. Someone should fix that.
