Greetings server. I am Megaman in-game, and I'm porbably going to get alot of

flames for this, but I feel I need to speak my mind. Ever since I hit 75 about

2 weeks ago I've noticed an alarming trend in the volume of tells I receive

asking for Teleports and Raises. I just wanted to make it clear that I did

not spend 110+ days in FFXI leveling WHM to be a Teleporter or Raiser.

I know some people will say "Just go anon" but I am very proud of the

hard work and research I put into being a really good WHM as well

as a contributing member of Cerebus. I definately help whomever I can

when I'm not busy as my LS CalltoArms can attest. I do not want to have

to B-list people because its not my style. I just wanted to say if you ask

me for a Teleport or Raise and I'm in Whitegate or Jueno, you will be

ignored. Not to say I don't Raise people or help out, just last night

while waiting for Serket to pop so I could watch the fight, the party

next to me pulled a link and I threw them some cures so they could defeat both

mobs. I also do regular raise runs in the Dunes and Quifim too. Just wanted

to let you know why I'm not answering you is all. Sorry for the long post.

If you don't feel like going anon, why don't you just put it in search comment that you don't want to do these things?

Something like: {Raise}? {Teleport}? {I'm Sorry} {I'm busy right now}

Edit: for clarity of thought. Not enough coffee this morning >.<

lol i don't see why you have to make a thread like that...

if you don't want to help people with tele/raise... ignore and move on o_X

people usually only asked random whms because they can't find anyone, and if you ignore them or say no nicely they'll shut up... its not really an alarming trend since its been happening for ages nor its alarming... lol its just the nature of this game being a community and help each other out~

Its just like people asking you to pt when you don't have a flag up ^_~

I often just ignore or say no to requests that I don't want to / cannot do. Being pesitered to help isn't that much a problem for me @_@ but I don't come online as much as the past, so I don't know how is it now, but I guess it is just as "bad" as the past, which isn't bad at all.

I will admit I prefered to help people I know, and I have a tendency to ignore stranger requests a lot more. And I 90% of the case do not do teleports and D2 requests unless to people I know (even being offered gil, if I do port someone, it is always for free). Sometime it is frustrating to hear people scream they have no echo drops, silent oil or reraise earring ~_~ when I bring those all the time (or be cheap use Reraise spell and take 1200 exp loss if die :P) or to wait people to run to AH or Mog House when I offered to port them.

Add: And Carmen come online this weekend, so I can poke you.

I made the thread to try to help spread the word, I figured Alla is a good

way to get a point across to as many people who read these boards.

I put alarming trend because it is to me, I've noticed the frequency of

tells I recieve is almost double the amount I used to recieve ever

since I was high enough to teleport others. I'm serious I get flooded with

these tells, I'm usually on about 3-4 hours a night and I get on average 25

tells, I even get tells while I'm in a party. Ignoring people is a simple

act, until the same person asks you 5-10 times, it gets old after a while.

I was just making the thread to ask people nicely not to send me tells

because more likely than not I'm not going to teleport you.

I have a better idea:

Why not just macro a /shout announcing that you are not available for these services and that people needing Raises or Teleports should ask anyone else but you. Just hit it a few times whenever you enter a new zone...

One thing I have yet to understand is how people get offended when someone asks them for help. If they have a party stranded in whitegate and they send you a tell asking for help, what reason do you have to take offense? They even offer to compensate you for your time.

Most whm have no problem going anon if they have stuff to do and don't have time to help. You claim to be too proud to do this but that doesn't make any sense. As a WHM you arn't a cheap ***** being solicited here... people are coming to you for help (because teleportation and R2/3 are EXCLUSIVE whm traits). How can you be offended when someone asks you to do what whm naturally do?

I have never been anon once on my whm and for the most part I only get tells when the tele-taru has been kidnapped. Hundreds of people are stuck in white gate and they need to get out. Whm is the only way for the most part (unless they want to each pay the expensive tele-taru). You can either help them (and make a quick 40k+) or go anon.

In 2003/2004 most whm I knew had to be anon 24/7 just to get breathing room. From what I hear it was way worse back then, especially before the outpost warps became available. I have never heard anyone mention this new trend of "an excessive amount of people asking for help". This has been a burden whm have carried since SE decided that they were, by their very nature, the most directly helpful job in the game.

lol

If you don't want to go anon, use a seacom {I'm sorry, I am Busy} or something similar.

Probabilities are most people don't know who you are on your server except your friends and the people you regularly interact with in the game.

Or if you mainly talk in party or linkshell chat just put /away on. Blocks all tells and people can still see your level if thats what you really want. Useful in a party when ya dont have time to answer tells.

I am only offended if people who asks repeately, spams /sh, or takes offense if a no or an alternate solution was presented.

I find a lot of time people will take offense to a no, and will crap talk at you immediately or when they find a chance. I have been crapped talked before for saying no to a party invited, and died and was seen by the personal who first tried to invite me.

Most people are not bad at all, and will not mind being told no. However, sometimes people playing skill is more medicore than they think, and refuse to listen to alternate suggestions to do the same thing even that person is not neccessary "bad."

I can understand being annoyed by rude people who don't take no for an answer, or people who demand to be raised and you are midway through an XP chain. But these are very rare situations.

Rude players are a pain no matter what job you play, and we all have to put up with them. Half the posts on these forums are rants complaining about "player X said or did this!" and most of those horror stories are much worse then what a typical whm goes through.

assuming you're not exaggurating... you have to be really unlucky.... @_@; /comfort

i afk a lot(like hours and hours)... and i usually look back to my tell log to see who left me a msg when i come back... and its rare to get even 10 in 5-6 hours...

don't take this offensively but i think you're being a bit too meantaru about this issue ^^; I'm sure you've had times where you seek a teleport in another job (at least i'm sure i have). =P even if you haven't i'm sure you've had times where you seeked help from others... teleports are the same principle... its just people seeking help and its up to you whether you want to help them or not... be proud that people ask you for things like that.. because you got a job that people say its boring to this high level ^^v

I AFK a lot too, and I rarely got a lot of tells either, but I usually put AFK on my comment if I am not there. I rarely go /anon, if I do, it means I do not want to be disturbed.

Sometimes I do ignore tells.... intentionally.. >_> I am leveling COR now, and I ignore PT invites to Valkrum Dunes -.-
