Player Warning: NevisFollow

I really don't like posting this kind of crap, but I think players need to be warned about this guy.

Recently Nevis was shouting in Jeuno today asking for members for a few KSNMs runs, while I was bored and decided I didn't feel like EXPing THF at the time, I offered to go.

After we explained the strat and everything we all agreed on you keep what you get from your orb, however at the end is when sh*t hit the fan.

2 out of the 7 (We replaced a player since they DCed and didn't come back, so that's why we got 7 runs in) runs we did dropped a Venom Claw, one came from Nevis' orb while the other came from Khirsah's (our BLMs) orb.

However Khirsha got the last run and after we noticed his claw dropped Nevis pulled the cheapest move ever, after everyone passed Nevis didn't pass on the claw and switched to make himself the quatermaster and lot on Khirsah's claw. He of course got it and logged out a second after getting it.

Enjoy your little rip off while you can pal, really sad to see how people are willing to ruin their reputation over a stupid item.

Well that IS some pretty low **** to do though. I've heard the same thing been done to other people on ocassions. Is screwed up cause there's realy nothing that can be done about that. Only thing I can suggest people is not to do KSNMs runs where the PT leader is someone you don't know at all. Hopefully people will catch on about him and leave him out of any PT though...

Well, Khirsah, the RDM, and me are calling GMs right now and hope we can get it back, I know that back when I was in PaiMei someone stole a member's Osode and a GM tracked it down and gave it back.

You know, you always hear about stuff like this happening, but you always figure "It won't happen to me. It's always someone else." I really can't believe that people can do this kind of thing, and I think it's extremely cruel. However, I find it an unusual vulnerability. There should be some way to stop that from happening, as it seems to be happening more and more frequently. I hope I can get it back, but I'm not getting my hopes up...

On a side note, Justine was extremely kind to me. After having had a chat earlier about doing some clothes shopping, she very kindly donated her errant houppelande to me in compensation for my loss. Thank you, Justine, that was the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me.

Nevis was anon, but we figure he was playing as a Sam/Thf. He had no linkshell currently equipped, but we've found out he does Dynamis runs with the ls TeleTubbies. He lives in Sweden, so he doesn't keep regular hours.

I got an invite one time from a player setting up a KSNM30 Desert Swarm run. I was lfp but I agreed to help them anyway since he said we would all be splitting the drops. 5/6 of us had orbs (including me) so I agreed to go.

We got one run done, and a V-claw dropped. Then two of the people had to go. So we all agreed that one person would sell the V-claw and distribute the money. Consequently it was the same person that asked me to come in the first place.

Well, a few days go by, and I send him a tell asking for the $1 million from the sale of the claw. He said he only has $800,000 to give me then. I said not to worry about it and just give it to me when he gets the full million. He even put me on his friend's list to remember....

...that was over two months (and six or seven POL messages) later.

He never responded to me. He never returned my tells or messages. He knew he got away with an easy extra million.

I kissed that money goodbye.

Funny thing is: this guy was part of a pretty well renowned Linkshell that, for everything I knew up to that point, had reputable members.

Its not the money so much, as it is the principle of the matter. This wouldn't have been able to be resolved by a GM. I had no claim to the money truthfully except for trusting someone at their word. If you are gonna ***** me over, at least have the testicular fortitude to tell me. I hate cheats; but I hate cowards even more...

Moral of the story: I am not ever doing anything for money with people I do not know.

Corrderio: Sorry man. That sucks but I have learned to get used to the fact that some people are backstabbing cowards. I found it extremely difficult myself not to name the person that screwed me over. I know a lot of people know him on this server too.

But I'll keep my tongue behind my teeth for now, in the possibly futile hope that honesty and integrity eventually prevail...

{Peace}

Same thing happened to my friend that I share this account with. While the loss was only about 800k it was STILL ****** up. Like you said...it is the principal of the matter.

I'm sorry to hear that Corrdy,

Nevis does do dynamis runs with us (Teletubbies) we've never had any issue with him there, i couldn't see why this would of happend. I'm not gonna take sides or anything but i'll have a word with him to see if he will give the item/gil/w.e back, but no promises, this isnt none of my business as much as it sucks.

Did you actually checked what the final price he sold the treasure as on AH? May be he undercutted or sold it a price that was different than what you think? Also there was a tax to pay for that.

I really do not think people will try to steal that 200k when he paid 800k already. I think there is a little more than that. If possible, I will check what the actual transaction price is ... if it is not long ago.

I do think sometimes people pull off tricks out of the air. I never heard of Nevis too. Isn't you a sack holder to Teletubbies? I for myself will not hesitate kick a person from a LS from his/her behaviour outside of the LS, but I think Nevis should be allowed to speak for himself.

Yes Ama, i am a sackholder, i do have the power to kick people yet Nevis has had a very good track record of attending dynamis/sticking to the rules. I know as a person he has screwed someone over but as an Teletubby hes been doing well, dont get me wrong i dont like people who ***** others over, the way i see it is until Nevis goes against our rules of the shell, he shouldn't be kicked due to something that doesn't concern the shell.

That was pretty sad I did all 7 runs with these guys. One of my LS members was in the group as well and told me what happened when I had already disbanded pt.
I feel horrible for Khirsha. He lotted the lowest for 6 rounds and finally got lucky and the claw dropped. Only to have that BS happen.

It was over two months ago.

Yah. It was sold for 6.5 Million on the AH a few days after the run. I made sure to check. Right after the run, he said that is what he was selling it for, and that each person would get $1 million.

He said we would all get $1 million gil

He sold it for $6.5 Million gil on the AH (confirmed)

I got nothing despite repeated tells and messages.

Well, looks like Nevis is going to be keeping the claw, for anyone interested in the chat convo I just had with the GM...

[GM]Dodry>> Greetings Corrderio, this is GM Dodry at your service. I understand you're reporting Nevis for stealing

[GM]Dodry>> from our party?

Corrderio>> Yes, last night after a KSNM run he set himself to be quatermaster and stole someone's drop and logged

Corrderio>> Right after

Corrderio>> What happened is we agreed that you keep whatever comes from your orb

Corrderio>> After my friend (Khirsah) uses his orb, a Venomous CLaw came from the crate

[GM]Dodry>> I am sorry to hear that.

Corrderio>> after we all passed, Nevis passed on everything but the claw

Corrderio>> and that's where he started to log off, set himself to be quatermaster, and lot on the claw

[GM]Dodry>> Unfortunately, GMs do not give involved in lotting disputes.

Corrderio>> I can give you around the time of when we talked about lotting rules and when he stole it if that would help

[GM]Dodry>> If a player is allowed to lot on an item or switch the party to quatermaster this is not a violation

Corrderio>> I know but he did it to scam my friend

[GM]Dodry>> GMs do not reconize lotting agreements.

[GM]Dodry>> I am very sorry about the inconvenience, I understand how this may be upsetting.

[GM]Dodry>> Is there anything else I can assist you with?

Corrderio>> No, that should be it.

[GM]Dodry>> Thank you for the GM call, and I sincerely apologize for the frustration.

[GM]Dodry>> I wish you a fond warewell and I bid you a safe journeys.

[GM]Dodry>> Have a wonderful stay in Vana'diel!!

So lesson learned? Nevis is little !@#$ who I hope never gets anywhere in this game again and the GMs are still the most worthless excuse for admins ever.

EDIT: Thanks Miszu for trying to help him out, if you can't hopefully the least you can do is get him booted from the LS

Wow that is crap. I guess the only way to prevent such a thing (with people you dont know) would be to switch pt leader to orb user before each run, that way they could switch to quartermaster and hopefully avoid scamming.

Guilt by association... A player violation of that level is DEFINATELY LS buisness. The "He stole from people, but they wern't members so we don't care" response is about as negligent comment I have ever heard from a sackholder.

Players of this game have good memories when it comes to drama like this, and they are quick to judge a group based on the actions of an individual. He is a stain to your LS and you are under no obligation to defend him. Allowing one dirty player in makes you ALL dirty players until proven otherwise.

Think of it this way:

Nevis: Used one of the dirtiest exploits in the game. A liar and a thief. Scum.

Teletubbies: A LS that is a haven for liars and thieves.

"bot, steal, cheat... whatever it takes to get ahead. As long as your LS event attendance is good, you have a home with the teletubbies".

That is of course very unfair to the Teletubbie LS, since I am sure you really are mostly good people. This is why most LS are so selective of their members. One bad seed can drag your entire reputation down.

Please do the right thing here.

Well, people like this SHOULD concern your shell. Just wait until he's lotting against you on your AF2 body and bam! steals it and logs on you. The people in your shell represent your shell at all times. That is, If you want to continue to keep respect in Cerberus... Their actions directly reflect the view that outsiders have on your shell.

When people have the BladeSingers pearl on... they better damn well wear it with pride and treat the rest of Vana how we treat them.. With respect. If we hear about situations involving members when their not wearing our pearl.. it's the same as if they were.

Don't think i'm trying to tell you how to run your shell... just saying imo, this is how things should be done in all LS. Or you'll end up with a reputation like WW.

Then I think your assesment of that person is fair... As a personal opinion, it still kind of odd that person did that to "steal" like that... But sometimes you never know, "thieves" are not always "smart" @_@;

My dad used to be a member of a Hong Kong British sports club that payment to certain facilities are basically by signing a slip that is left on an unattended table.

Sometimes I wish people to have more honor in the game or in RL in general. I have done BCs with random groups before and people I do not know at all. Never, we need to change leader for the orb user.

Wow, thanks everyone for supporting me. I really appreciate it, and it's good to know that there are people out there who have the decency to respect and honor others. I'm sorry that Nevis did what he did, for his own sake. It's really a shame that he's going to be allowed to keep the claw. But perhaps, he'll understand someday. Maybe not in the game, but IRL. Someday, he'll have something of his that he worked for stolen away from him, and he'll know how it feels. That claw should have been mine, and I'll never forgive him for what he did to me. And to the linkshells that harbor him, while I agree that actions like this don't merit action within the linkshell, I must admit that I will forever be suspect of ANY shell in which he's a member. Honestly, if I can't trust him, what makes me think I can trust his shell?

Please tell as many people as you can what he did. Nevis doesn't deserve the kind of support this game requires from other people. He'll just cheat everyone he comes across.
#23 Jul 26 2006 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
Well...judging by how Nevis acted and how Teletubbie LS Sackholders handled his misdeeds, I'm gonna have to say they can all kiss my ***. I have zero respect for sacks of douche like that...and the LS that doesn't discipline him...they're garbage in my eyes. Sorry you guys got burned.
#24 Jul 26 2006 at 6:15 PM Rating: Good
I'm not from your server but I was browsing so I sat and read this. While it is terrible that this player stole the V-Claw, unfortunately this is the kind of behavior you have to prepare for with pickup groups for BCNM's or KSNM's. A poster above me hit the nail right on the head, when it is your orb leader should be passed to you, strictly to avoid incidents like this.

It's a shame because most people want to believe that everyone around them are good people and don't pull things like this. But the problem is that people like this do in fact exist. They put their own wants above their own reputation and the reputations of the people they associate with. It's wrong that his dynamis shell is now being targetted as a result of it, but that is the way it will be. You are judged by the company you keep unfortunately.

You can be the best, nicest, most honest people around for years and nobody says a word. But the second a player acts shady and pulls something like this, that is what people will remember.

My hope is the Teletubbies will take some form of disciplinary action against this member as a result for his actions. Because if they don't all people are going to remember is the fact that he was acknowledged as doing something wrong, but nothing was ever said or done about it. Let's face it, people in endgame communities have extremely long memories, what you do or don't do can come back to you in the future.

Do the right thing here guys, if you can't make him give the claw back then something else needs done in it's stead. He blatantly stole and while you say he has done nothing wrong in your linkshell, if he has done it once how long before he does it again. The next time it could be you, or another one of your members that he shafts.

My personal experience with seal BCs never had any problems. I still think this is an "isolated" case, but yeah... I do think no matter what you do in the game, you are going to run into people who is going to try to cheat you. I myself have been cheated in the other occassions too.

Quote:

Amen to online game. A lot of people think pulling off $hit in the internet is fine since there are usually little aphrension against that. It is kind of GM to do anything about this too without giving them time to "investiage."

I think in the long term -- as an internet as a whole -- it needs to be put under some control or jurdisiction. I am talking about a much bigger problem than online game -- right now there is little things people can do with overseas spammers and scammers.

I really think that - when there is solid proof that shows that someone screwed somebody else over or misbehaved in a terrible matter - a community shoukd take its responsibility and take action towards such a person. Thinking "he is a lousy person, but he never bs'ed me so it's not my issue" just doesn't cut it. Not in a game and not in real life. It's too easy and it's very selfish. By not taking action you basically give this person a carte blanche: do whatever you want, we con't care as long as you're cool with us.

People who break agreements for monetary gain - or cheat in general - should systematically be worked out of this game. Kicking a scammer out of his or her linkshells would be a good first step. Persona non gratas will eventually leave once everybody knows about their reputation.
