Sorry for ranting, but I have been quite alarmed by the lack of skill and lack of attention even in the mid 50 PTs now. And people seems to do not mind chain 1-2 or even no chain PTs in that level.

I am not the great Ninja, I admit that, and I always try to work hard to correct my problems, but it is really demoralizing when PT sucks. I admit that I am very direct and upfront in giving advice in how to improve others game play. I offended someone that way by giving advice in what I may see that may improve her play because she thinks it is "lecturing." I will apologize the way I speak, but it is never meant to be hostile. I think I worked out with her, and I feel bad that I offended that specific player, and I apologized to her. But what really drive me crazy is the people who will not EVEN respond to comments. As if it is like put their character on attack mode, and go watch TV.

Work Hard, Play hard. May be I am elistist, I will shut up.

LoL as soon as I saw the title I knew you had to have had a bad pt last night.

Ama, we're in a time of power levels, bought gil, and bought characters. The majority of the people don't care about anything but getting to 75 fast. They don't care about honing their skills or even understand the difference between exp/kill and exp/hour.

"ZoMg we got 250 exp on that kill this pt is UBAR!" Well... the chain ends at chain 1, you got a whopping 450 exp off of it, and now need a full rest.. Whoopie. Give me 100 exp/kill and non stop chains any day. LoL

This is why my characters stop at 50. Unless I'm pting with LS mates or friends, I can't stomach a)sitting LFG for hours on end and b)dealing with people that don't know, and don't care how to do their job well.

Now don't get me wrong, I will gladly take slower exp for a newer player when they genuinely want to learn it and ask questions. I welcome that. However, the ones that have no clue, and don't care, I can't stand.

I am a firm believer that you play the game you want to, however, keep in mind that when you pt what you do affects everyone in the pt, not just you. Don't automatically assume that everyone that offers advice is attacking you. Some genuinely just want to help.

I now the player I got into conflict to is a misunderstanding. I can see her to be a decent player in the future.

But I have ran into this Mithran DRG, who will use crazy subjob, pull literally by running into a Robber Crab, do not respond to PT chat, and will only do Penta Thrust but nothing else. And this SAM who will say "Let's TP burn!" and again do nothing to help me when I am having problems with my shadows or mages get hit, and will only spam Jinbu and .... Penta Thrust (it seems he try to cap both GK and Spear and don't care about SC and switch weapons in the middle of the PT)... and will not SC nor even use Berserk. And a BLM who will tell me that because his friends do not care he does not need to level his subjob. And will talk crap to me when I died (his PT is behind me)....... Don't get my into pro-JP banter, I have a JP PT with a JP RDM who will get PT wiped 3 times because he Sleepgaed in Boyada Tree in a camp with bunnies and mandys all over... May be I look sexy and should feed me to bunny and mandy lunch ~_^ just like feeding birds in Central Park, throw me into them and a bunch of mandys and bunnys will eat me. And then I also had an obvious bought character (a former character was owned by a Taiwan player that sold to an American player -- I know that because that Taiwan player was in HoE), who will talk garbage in PT chat and to some gil sellers who happened to nearby. A series of 4-5 really bad PTs is really demoralizing.

Sometimes hard not to be bitter when I trying to be better PT member, and I am spending tons of money to level Ninja, and other members doing terribly.

I feel your pain Amanada... I've had a few parties as of lately that have been less than desireable. But i've also been in some great parties as well. Just like Leetfade on his Monk.. parites are hit and miss (:P sorry stab at ya Leet.. you're not around enough to get them in game so i gotta fill the void on forums lol).

I tend to not give advice in parties even though i'm usually putting them together (pt leader). If a player is just down right horrible i will suggest what i can... but if i haven't played their job then more often than not my advice isn't needed. On top of that, most parties have atleast 1 person willing to speak up rather quickly lol.

I'm big at remembering someones performance or how they interact in the party. If you're an prick*, you won't be getting an invite from me. If you were sub par at your job... i'm sure you'll get another invite. If you were down right horrible... then good chance you won't. I don't care if you're the most "uberest" Thf or Nin on the server... act like a ***** and you'll get treated like one.

/rant off

*Edited cuss words since i'd never call someone a Richard. That's just plain f_ucking stupid.

One thing I do know of myself is very direct, and make no hiding if something does not seem to be right -- I am like that in RL too >< and have gotten into arguments with others. I do admit sometimes direct comments and criticism will be viewed as a personal attack...

I really try hard to do what I can to make myself helpful and useful to the PT. Sometimes I am tired, and sometimes I am distracted... and I do feel bad if I think do something wrong, and try hard to apologize or make it up. It just seems people do not feel guilt. Not so much I mind people go too defensive... but by going defensive, it shows you understand and listening to what I am talking about -- and you just disagree what I say. I don't mind disagreement, but it is those people who outright ignore what you say, or feel shameless for doing something wrong... This is not just a FFXI thing. I see it all the time in the street. I remember one time in a cheap Chinese place, a person is literally counting 30 pennies to pay the bill, and when I give that a person a look, that person repsond with profanity.

May be I am just expecting too much from others.

I do see recently that a PT near me in the Cape Terrigan level has some some sort of outside curer/supporter. I will not say it is PL, but defintely there is "extra help." And the PT members of that PT was in quite well known LSs. It kinds of disturb me that intentional outside help is needed at that level. I do have throw random cures when I am escorting supplies to a friend to 65+ PT, but I will leave quite soon, and it was I am bored.

I logged on into the game just a few min ago from work to check AH and mules... That mithran DRG is again in game, and I do not think that "player" has logged out and is continuing to exp for last 24+ hours........ using a badly underleveled subjob. Sometimes it makes you wonder why there are leveling services. I am not saying that player is using it, but it certainly makes you wonder.... But obviously, if there are demand for such service, no one would have provided it.

Amanda, I know which drg u where PT with. He did the same to me, then, tried to throw out our mnk and replace him with a cor. The entire PT said not to, drg did, so we left PT, and regrouped. We went from a Pt getting 15o exp every 5 minutes, 2 a 5k an hr PT. Hit me up in game if u want to PT. I know a few good people to PT with, and im able to PT with my SAM and RDM.

FYI, ingame name is Maryjane^^

Yes I have ran in a few times with you before Maryjane... You actually have the same character model as me ;)

Sometimes I wish more people talk about game things in these open boards. A lot of people do not care about these boards. As much as I hate the sell out of Alla.... I still check the guides and discussions here, because I want to make myself useful.

I know people will only SP or has completely given up hope to level new job or join pick ups because of the lack of quality of play.

I feel your pain Amanada. I have a SP with some LS and IRL friends on my PLD, and I have gotten so spoiled by having a group that works well together and only cares about XP/hr. ^-^

I also have been leveling NIN in pickup parties, and I've noticed a HUGE influx of (unskilled, lazy, bad, still learning) players. I am certainly not a good NIN ^-^, still trying to learn my routines and keep up with the hate threshold, but I'm trying VERY hard to do well and be a benefit to the 5 people around me.

I've always said that I set high standards for myself, and I don't concern myself with other people, but situations such as yours is really making me rethink my position.

If someone in the party is obviously slowing everything down and I have some advice to offer, I will send them a polite /tell offering my experience and advice. Several times this has helped people who honestly did not know any better, and the times that it offended someone, I try to not worry about, and just remember to avoid doing things with them in the future.

PS: The worst 50+ I can remember was (before our SP) a DRG/NIN who kept Defender up full-time, despite the fact that he was not first voke, did not pull, and never got hit once. The same stellar player used Meat Jerky (yes, jerky) and my WAR friend who was there said he would hit 100% TP every 5-6 fights.

Anyways while SP'in with my Summoner. the 2 love birds have levelled a lil ahead of me (those who know me and my relations will know who these 2 are ^_^) so i jumped at the chance of an exp party without them in hope to gain a few levels to catch up.

So the Setup was SMN(me) RDM(friend) BLM(ldr) PLD MNK THF

So we headed to Cape Terrigan and were fighting crabs down at the Valley of Sorrows zone, THF would pull MNK 1st voke and THF SATA'ed PLD. 1st chain we get chain#5 some decent exp, only to find in our next chain, i see the blm nuking WaterIII on the crab we were fighting. So I tell him to use either ThunderII or BlizzardII instead of water and stone III, coz these will be more effective in DoT. so ok the blm says ok....
*THF pulls*
*blm cast WaterIII* -.-
*blm casts ThunderII* yay
*blm casts stoneIII* -.-
*blm casts WaterIII* -.-
*blm waits (guessing for timer)*
*blm casts StoneIII* -.-
*blm is out of mp and rests while we are still fighting*
so the party are pretty pissed with him for blowing all his mp and doing so little dmg. To this point he has recovered 2/3 - 3/4 of his mp and insisted that he needed full mp b4 the next fight when we was struggling to finish off this crab. and continued to rest, me and my rdm friend(also a 75blm main) was discussing in /tell how the blm was poo... then i realised he had a gimp sj >_> BLM57/21WHM. From here i got me a whm replacement and got a warp home. overal i think we got something like 2k/hr >_>

/hurray for gimpy blm, i am a nooby blm as to that tho XD

Miszu... I know who that BLM is... in fact I mention that in this thread. I told him when he try to invite me that his sub is part of the reason I do not want to accept the invite... But I got another crappy party @_@ So I died, and when he saw me dead, and start talking garbage at me. Anyway, that BLM's PT were not doing too great either.

Ok Enough ranting.... Back to myself, yesterday I was in Limbus with a bunch of friends... I was literally falling asleep >< In the end, we had 2 BLMs. Friends asked me to D2 my PT... I just logged out >< I kind of a feel bad, but I was dropped sleep in 3 min afterwards ><

I need to install cable at my home soon so I can watch World Cup on ESPN @_@

Remember Yankees! Their is only one True Football! The Football that the darn Tories play. Don't make a fool of yourself running around with Plate Armour with a Rugby ball and called that "Football" ;3

The above phrase is meant to be a joke.

Add: Miszu and I were talking about English Soccer ;)
