*Question* Calculateing AccuracyFollow

I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere in this place. But its rather vast and not being a premium member with search function I'm unsure how long it would take me to find it, so I'll just ask for the help of any wise chap from my server.

How do you calculate your base accuracy?

Also from what I did see while looking around is that "2Dex equals +1Acc"? so after someone helps with my first question I can assume the above statement is true and then add in Acc from gear to figure out my final Acc when using food.

Thankyou ^^

Some say its:

Skill 200 or below:
Acc = Skill + (Dex/2) + AccBoost

Skill over 200:
Acc = 200 + (Skill-200)/5 + (Dex/2) + AccBoost

LoL if that's true my ACC is around 275 w/o food. Where did you get that formula from? I've never seen it.

I don't know why SE just doesn't release their formulas for things like this. It would make the more intelligent players able to excel more and make it more of a mentally challenging game.

I found it on the Monk forums.
It looks ok, since your Accuracy must beat the Mobs Evasion, and thats at about the same level.
Some people also said in that thread that Sushi was capped at 30 accuracy.

Yeah I'm guessing those Hobgobling Blaggers evasion are around 280-300. LoL. I hate those things.

I just wonder how many people pull these calculations out there you know what and how many actually have some viable source.

Its all speculation really. I don't really see why you need to know the exact number. If you can connect well, then you have enough accuracy. If not, you need more. Simple stuff.

Yeah it would be nice if they did release the damage code, but SE will not release it because of the MIN/MAX players.

Parsing already shows weaknesses but if people are able to break it down to exact numbers then people will know for a fact whether or not a job is over/underpowered.

Actually I can't think of one MMoRPG that provides exact details to their damage forumla.

Personally I'm not big on numbers so if SE did release it, I would not have a clue what to do with it lol. I guess thats the beauty of games like this. Experimentation is the only way to find out how to maximize your abilities.

Whereas I fully agree in the "Just play and have fun" strategy, there are people like me that enjoy the game a lot better when we're at our best possible.

With formulas like this I could tweak my gear to have the right balance of ACC/STR/ATK/VIT (WS modifier for monk). I still have a crap load of questions about STR vs. ATK and I dont understand why I hit better on some mobs with less ACC so things like that would give me a better understanding.

Maybe it's the engineering background. LoL.

Also, what works on one mob will not work on another. For example, the two main leveling areas at my level are Bibiki Bay and Kuftal Tunnel. If I go to Kuftal, I can more or less go all out STR and parse some crazy numbers. If I go to Bibiki Bay, I can do this on Catoblepas, but not on some of the gobs (Anglers/Blaggers).

I personally carry 4 sets of gear with me. I have ACC gear for high eva mobs, STR gear for low eva/high def mobs, tank gear for when things get ugly (Full Arhat's set and Empress Pin if you're curious), and what I call my "GQ" gear for just strutting around. LoL. I like to be prepared and I assume that is why I get a lot of repeat invites. :-b

While I understand that you want to be the best you can, I also think you can determine how to play best through sheer experimentation (as you have done) rather than crunching numbers. You seem to have figured out which mobs have higher EVA requiring more ACC, and which you can get away with more STR gear on, and you don't have any formulas. Experimentation is better than formulas in my books ^^

I'd rather mess with those than the DRK goblins, holy crap they're worse than PLD mobs, they hit VERY hard and have high DEF ><

Which ones are those? The only ones I can't stand are those f'n blaggers. Triple Attack + Gob Rush is killer on NIN tanks and the evasion is killer on Melee. Boo to you blagger!

I have no problem with Anglers. I was at that camp at 68 (missed a lot then though). I'll take them over Blaggers any day. :-b

Starting using FFXI Log Parser to see your damage. I use it in parties all the time to see who's the weakest link. ;)

I use it for crafting too in order to record my stats. I think it needs to have more reporting capability to be able to see the effects of direction, moon, skill gap different, etc. to start becoming a real tool in order to find SE's forumla.

although dex does affect melee accuracy, 2 dex is in no way the same as 1 acc. this rumor has been spread due to how str and attack, as well as vit and def relate to each other, and people wrongly assume all stats are like this. in reality, you can add as much +dex as you want and it wolnt make a noticable difference in your accuracy like adding +5 accuracy will.

as for a formula, your accuracy is at least 90% dependent on your weapon skill level, if not more. a higher weapon skill level has the most dramatic effect on accuracy, even more so then accuracy + equipment. theres no real working formula to find a realistic accuracy number, accuracy+ does not have as much of an effect as your weapon skill lvl, and dex does very little, so trying to add all 3 together is almost impossible due to how evasion differn from mob to mob making it impossible to really test.

generaly your weapon skill lvl + your accuracy bonus gives a good indication of how good your accracy will be, but theres no way to get a number and exactly determine your accuracy. as someone said earlier in the thread, if your connecting more then 95% of your hits then you have enough accuracy, if your missing much more then that then you need more accuracy+ or need to be a higher level to fight those mobs.

The 2 Dex = 1 Acc was as proven it could be a few months ago.
A guy unequiped Dex Rings and Acc stuff on a mob wih Low evasion/no evasion stuff on it. And the result was 2 Dex was equal to adding 1 acc to pu the mob into Low Evasion.

It's such an age old question @_@....
I'm not sure about the formulas, no one knows for sure---

To add: I'd say parse yourself as someone previously mentioned and use a combo of gear and food that works best, switching between the combos based on what you're fighting

ya know.. to find the DEX > ACC ratio...

Find a mob that cons as either high or average evasion.

Put on accuracy gear until it cons a level lower.

Remove/put on some 1+s or 2+s until you find what is the "turnover" point for the mob losing an evasion level.

Remove a +1 piece of gear to remain one level below that.

Add DEX until it cons low evasion again.

There you go. DEX > ACC ratio.
