[Rogue] (Combat) How many CP for SnD?Follow

I'm specced for the longer SnD, and glyphed as well(combat spec). If I SnD with just 1 cp it gives me just over 20 secs of the buff. It seems unproductive to use SnD with anything more, since the 1cp/20secs is definitely the highest sec/cp spent rate. That doesnt take into account the energy required to cast SnD, however.

So my rogue friends, what is the ideal number of # to SnD with for max dps?

I may be wrong because my rogue is pretty fresh to the 85 stuff, but I believe I read 4 or 5 is what you want to aim for. I don't think its as important how many cp you use for it, as long as you are keeping it up.

If SnD is down or has 1-2 seconds left hit SnD.

Use that many points. It is the optimal amount.

EJ doesn't say one way or the other. I would think that energy is a more precious resource than CP, so your best bet is to go for a longer SnD.

SnD does not need to be done with 5 combo points only and should always last long enough for you to build up the combo points for another SnD with at least a one finisher in between.

I'm fairly certain he can squeeze in a 5 point finisher and generate an extra point in that time span.

Just keep SnD up, it is a DPS loss to not have it up and a DPS loss to clip it. I'm fairly certain the loss of not having it up is greater than the inefficient use of energy on a 1 CP SnD.

I should have added "while making sure SnD doesn't drop and without clipping more than a couple seconds of the buff". In 20+ seconds, he should be able to drop 2 5-point finishers and still refresh SnD. I know on my druid I can almost always get a bite and a savage roar in between Rips, and that's 22 seconds. Combat is a little behind on CP generation, but not much.

One of the things I really can't stand when leveling up a rogue, or any class really, is that the fights you level on do not last long enough to actually get a rotation going. I mean, I can kill things with two mutilates and an eviscerate. No need to get a slice and dice going. I mean I am only level 27, so that factors in, but still.

If you're leveling as Assassination, you can take 2 points in Deadly Momentum and that will keep Recuperate and SnD rolling. What I have hated about leveling my rogue is that your AoE skill is level 80. Right at the point where dungeons might not be AoE spam fests, you get Fan of Knives. That's just awesome.

Yeah, Blizzard dropped the ball on Fan of Knives. Should be available at level 20 or something. There's no reason why it shouldn't be.

The closest thing you can get to AOE before 80 is a Combat spec since Blade Flurry gives you some multi-target damage. As it turns out, Blade Flurry is also insanely powerful later on since you're always fighting 3+ mobs at a time. Especially in Dragon Soul raids.

Just ran the Siege of Wyrmrest Temple LFR thing and a Combat Rogue was pulling 60k overall DPS in there, which was about 20k DPS higher than #2 on the list. Smiley: lol

I had always been combat. Never could get into Mut specs and whatnot. I loved Adren Rush/BF way too much lol

I will have to give that a go later on. I am having fun leveling with Muti. I rarely ever fight more than a single mob at a time so the Combat skill set seems wasteful. I am not going to do any dungeons with this toon, it is really designed to get to 85 for a guild achievement.
