Has any moonkin out there ever used this spell?
I find it confusing and breaking my rotation.
Sometimes I use it before some pull, but not usually, due to threat issues some tanks are having. On bosses, its just a pita, and not worth it at all.
So....anyone using this spell?

wild mushroom is an AOE for AOE uses just like other aoe spells to be used on 3+ large grouped up trash.
or in pvp to protect narrow corridors/entrances/capture points from stealthies or such

Yeah, from what I've read it's intended to be an AoE spell. But, it can be a bit aggravating trying to use it on a pack of mobs without communicating with the tank on vent. If the tank doesn't drag the mobs to where you place the mushrooms (I find it less a waste of time to place my shrooms before the tank pulls), your dps gets affected there.

Multiple Targets and AoE
In multi-target (3 or more) situations, Wild Mushroom and DoT's tend to overpower all other spells due to their high DPET.
Wild Mushroom should always be spammed on cooldown (i.e. plant a set of 3 Mushrooms and detonate them every 10 seconds).
Always put both DoT's on any target that's going to live for more than a few seconds.
Save Starfall for multi-target situations if there are any in the encounter.
Fill in any remaining time with Typhoon and Hurricane.

I wouldn't say there's zero AoE use now. Maybe more like 10-20%. So yeah, it's greatly reduced but there's definitely still some spots where it's useful. The troggs in HoO, air elementals in VP, giblins in ToT, for example.

Mate, there are so many things in this expansion that don't make sense, I'm not sure where to start.

This being one of them.
Cataclysm was supposed to herald the end of AOE, but every dungeon I've done has had AOE moments. Especially now that tanks are getting up there and don't need CC anymore.

To be fair, I used a lot of this spell yesterday while trying to do Magmaw. Freaking adds.
Yeah, Magmaw is definitely a tricky fight, especially when your raid group isn't fully geared up yet and doesn't have all their gear enchanted... It was our first raid though, so no complaints from me. Especially when I don't have any room to complain since I was usually one of the first people to die. Starfall and Typhoon and Hurricane, oh my!
I recommend yelling at people who show up for raids without enchanting their gear.

I'm not the raid leader (nor would I want to be, I don't like that level of responsibility in my fun time), and I don't like yelling at people. >.> It was the group's first raid, so it's not that big of a deal to me to be honest. Now in two or three weeks if people are still doing that, I'd get a bit miffed.

I haven't raided yet and so far I've only used it (to good effect) in heroic Stonecore on the worm boss (Corborus) where I put them down where I was standing (starting before the pull) and detonated when the crystal adds spawn. I tend to forget I have the spell though.

I love them and they do quite good damage. Also, they look awesome to boot!

We usually have 3-4 caster Druids in our raids, and I usually yell at them to make a Mushroom Garden whenever there is any AoE going. For example, 25man Maloriak killing the adds, I did 500k+ damage with Shrooms. As Resto.

Let's not forget the functionality of the 'shrooms here. With Fungal Growth talented they're essentially a hunters trap that does great aoe dmg. It's incredibly useful in many situations, boss and trash alike.
That's true, but if you already have a hunter or another class who can do an AoE slow, that particular talent is pointless. I asked about it, and was told that it wasn't necessary for my raid group in its current set up.
I generally don't use this spell. Targeting circles + raid lag + 4GCD = not worth the aggravation. I've been thinking of how they could fix this spell... only thing I can think is have 1 cast drop all 3 shrooms. So 1 button to plant them, 1 to detonate, could replace MF spamming while running.

As i'm now a Boomkin, i've been using them a lot. Any AoE, I drop these and blow them, then Hurricane until there is 4 secs left on shrooms and plant and blow them again. It makes for some fantastic damage that other classes are jelous of.
BTW, yes I do know that shrooms and multi dotting is better DPS, but it is so much more work too! :)

Yeah if you aren't using your shrooms for AoE, your losing dps. If raid lag is an issue, that sucks but you really should be putting them down anyways.
Yeah, I never came back to this thread, but the shrooms are, in fact, one of the best (if not the best) aoe spell in the game.

So does anyone have an idea how to put those things into a macro to make it a bit easier and faster to use?
I'm thinking about a resetting castsequence that starts and ends with the explosion, with the 3 plants in between, so you can plant and explode anywhere between 1 and 3, but I'm not sure if the sequence will even continue when the first detonation returns an error.

I don't think a macro would work with mushrooms. The problem is that you have to actually place the mushrooms, so that makes things tricky. I could be wrong though.

I don't see this anywhere near being a necropost. It's only reasonable to use existing threads about the same subject, especially when they're on the very first page of the section. Not my fault that the section itself just dosn't have much activity other than the BDT.
And.. Just as I thought, I can't start a shroom castsequence with a detonation. So for now I removed the reset option and kept the detonation at the end. Might just add a modifier or something unless anybody could think of an alternative.

Generally speaking, I like to start new threads once you hit a certain point.
The only reason you'd necro is:
1. To reply to the conversation in the original thread.
2. To ask a new question related to the origingal thread.
If we are considering option 1, no one cares--kinda the reason the thread dropped anyway. :P
If we are considering option 2, then you are asking a question related to the thread, sure. But you just end up placing your question way down in a thread people stopped caring about. So then you end up with groups who click it, not realizing it's a necro, and starting up the old conversation that people don't care about anymore (usually my reaction >.<). Or you just treat it as a new thread that starts with the necro, made irritating because it's harder to find the OP and anyone who didn't peruse the old thread won't know where the new one is starting without looking for the necro warning.
But that's just me. :P
