Yeah I just looked at the gloves like 10 minutes ago, it's only a 2 sec reduction.

Given the recent nerfs to SV and bufss to BM, how are they comparing in raid or dungeon environments?

Also, for al of you BM Hunters out there, I've read up on the shot priority for BM and have one main question.

If you have Serpent Sting up on the target, you're Kill Command is on CD but will come off soon, and you have enough focus to shoot an Arcane Shot...What should you do? Fire the Arcane shot then fire Cobra Shot to get enough Focus to use KC, wait for KC to come off CD then use that, or Cobra Shot to fill time and then KC when it's off CD?

Use KC on cooldown, do not wait more than 0.5 seconds for KC.

Thanks for the info Æthien.

Been playing my Resto Druid as my main for quite a while and have come back to my Hunter, and want to make sure I get my **** straight before I really get into serious content.

Same question as my previous post though; Have there been any comparisons, or does anyone have any experience with the differences between the three specs, but BM and SV specifically, since the buffs and nerfs?

From what I was reading from people on the oboards, it used to be about a 12-13% nerf and now it's down to 6-7%

I don't know about the difference, check EJ for that or FemaleDwarf if that has a 4.0.6 version already.

This thread is funny.

And yet, it's not.

I heard the best spec is 0/0/0, because even that can pull off 10k+ DPS and then you get bonus points for not spending talent points to be cool.

True story, I made it up myself.

Under the right circumstances, you probably can pull off 10k dps with 0/0/0 spec.

Lolol, in something close to BiS with 5 minutes of ******** around with FemaleDwarf I get these numbers for 0/0/0 raidbuffed:
Combined: - 14815.35 - 100.00%
Hunter: --- 12217.70 - 82.47%
Pet: ------ 2597.65 -- 17.53%

Sounds about right.

Had a SV Hunter in my HoO run earlier who pulled 16k. 23k on Rajh, of course.

I was playing around with the spreadsheet and I tried regemming all my hit to agility completly disregarding socket bonuses or hit %. It said I would actually have a dps increase doing this even if it did mean I was almost 200 points under hit cap. Does this seem right? If so is hit rating as important as thought?

Agility is king, queen and god.
Go for the agile meta + all agility gems unless you can get more agility out of a socket bonus.

I wish they would have made the old Wrath agi/crit dmg gem have reqs of red gems, instead you are supposed to have more blue than red gems, which is actually the same for the chaotic shadowspirit, so pretty much right now I'm running with no useful meta because of the requirements.

Agile Shadowspirit Diamond

edit: to clarify, this gem is still on the PTR as of right now.

Also, the blue quote from when these were added to the PTR.

The note hasn't been added yet, but we haven't forgotten. Here's what you're likely to see in the patch notes:

Meta gems with the Chaotic and Relentless prefixes now have a requirement of 3 red gems.

Added new meta gems: Agile Shadowspirit Diamond (Agility/3% critical damage), Reverberating Shadowspirit Diamond (Strength/3% critical damage), and Burning Shadowspirit Diamond (Intellect/3% critical damage). These new recipes are unbound and can drop from any Cataclysm creature. The new meta gems have a requirement of 3 red gems equipped.

I know there is a new agility meta! But the old wrath one has terrible requirements, same with the chaotic shadowspirit.

I would claim I said "currently" but I did not. Those changes to the metas aren't until patch.

Yeah, but I'd say that until then just go with whatever meta makes use of red gems and gem for straight up agility, it's probably the best for dps at the moment anyway.

Oh, and pray that the new agi meta won't cost you 1.5k or more.

I'm going to farm the **** out of those patterns when they go live and bend people over something fierce to make them.

The hunter forum is actually one of the most active class forums.
Of course, the druid forum is more active because of the bored druid thread but that's really just about it.

And hunters still have the most posts and the most threads of all classes with only rogues being even close.

We tend to slow down a lot when things don't change much. I'm sure we'll kick back up a bit with the patch and people creating 3 threads of "What's best dps spec?" and "What's MM rotation?"

I thought I was in the rogue forum for a second there reading this thread. My bad.

Regardless. I'm just about to cruising altitude with my raid toons and am looking at possibly making hunter the next project (casual, some relaxed raiding maybe, a bit of BG pvp). So I clicked on this thread looking for insight and viewpoints regarding specs.

My question is NOT which spec is "zomg leet deeps" in a progression setting, but which spec you each prefer generally and why. From what I've read today, it appears that Marksman is a bit more complicated, Survival is bursty AoE, and Beast Master is the most straight-forward. Is that accurate? Not doing hardmodes on my next toon eliminates the need to theorycraft another toon (I hate writing sims, really) or absolutely need max throughput. But it would be nice to have some opinions to guide the respecs.

After reading the above I suppose I'm asking the hunter forum for their generalized views and opinions that can help a casual hunter player rather than the hardmode raider.

Thanks in advance.

What help is it to you to know people's preference for a certain spec? None of the three specs has ever been all that complicated to play and they don't really differ that much in playstyle so just go with whatever gets you the best dps.

And luckily we hunters have good theorycrafters who have made a pretty little site called femaledwarf.com where you just plug in your armory and figure out what the best spec is for you in a matter of minutes.
Other than that you just gem agility and stick to hitcap and don't worry too much about reforging and you're close enough to maximizing your toon for casual play.
