/run PetRename("NAME HERE")
You need the parentheses and the quotations. Name goes inside. It's permanent so choose carefully. You can't rename it. This may get fixed soon and is unpublished but well tested on the mage class forums on the Oboards.

PSS: I freakin love Frost Mage since 4.0. It's an alt that has gear from the way back when machine in Nax/Uld that I quit playing when my raid guild needed a Ret pally but "Falling in love again...." Frost was always my fav spec back since Vanilla.
Mostly doing PvP atm but feels good to be frosty baby.

If any of you are having problems, try dismissing and resummoning it. I was unable to rename it until I tried that, and it worked.

This might seem like a silly question, but if you spec out of frost, completely, then spec back into it, will the name still remain?

Yes! I actually completely respeced tonight on my mage. I had been using a PvP/PvE hybrid frost while I was deciding if I was hooked on frost again. (I was) So tonight I bought dual spec and made one PVE frost and one with all the PvP goodies like the ice sheild break frost nova and auotcast ice sheild at 50% damage.
Summoned my buddy and he was still Drips.
You are a freaking genius. Thank you very much for that! My little gnome mage, Magicfrog, now has a pet called MagicPuddles. I hope it stays and doesn't get fixed by Blizzard.

When I read this I had to try it out so..,
bought dualspec, went with frost, entered the code..
and got a message "Your pet can't be renamed" :(
dismissing and re-summoning fixed it though,
now running around with "Aquarius"
