I have a fresh, level 27 shaman, that I would like to use to learn how to heal. I have never healed on my other toons so it will be a new experiance. I know that resto is not the best build for leveling but I was wondering if I could use it to heal in dungeons and do quests while waiting to get a group. Will quests be an option or will I just be to easy to kill?

Thanks

You can pretty much quest in any spec, but resto is going to be a lot slower. However, I've been leveling my shammy up as resto through the LFG and it's going excellently. Usually, your wait for queues will only be about 3~5 minutes, so no real need to quest.

Any spec will do for the little bit of questing in between dungeons. Also, the dps-specs don't really start to take off until level 40+, which also happens to be the point where you could get yourself dual-spec if you can afford it.

The other benefit to levelling resto is that while you will kill things slower you will also be very tough to kill, so you may even save time due to less corpse runs.

Or, you could just quest with an Elemental or Enhancement spec and dual-spec in 13 levels and start to learn how to heal then. I didn't learn to heal until I was 80 and I'm pretty capable at it, so you have plenty of time.
