Not all that much new stuff yet though.

Boomkin has a lot of new stuff, feral is rather not done at all, resto has some minor work done, disc has some changes and yes Priest non-Shadow DPS took a beating.

Some of the hunter trees look different but I can't really say how, as do the mage ones.

Its early FnF Alpha testing so I'm not really surprise it is relatively unfinished. Still nice to see some of the possible changes.

They nerf non-Shadow Priest DPS, but add talents to Resto that buffs DPS?

Inconsistent much, Blizzard?

How the **** did they kill Smite Spec?

It looks like DPS for Holy might actually come out better. What am I missing?
#6 May 06 2010 at 7:26 AM Rating: Good
Dear god what the hell did they do to feral's sub-resto talents

There's no smite spec anymore.
It's just 3 points and that's it.
What's the fun in that?

I'm with Kali here, all the key talents are still there, they just moved a small handful of them around a bit. Smite spec is still intact from what I can see.

No changes to the DK trees yet, from what I can tell. Nor Mages. Shaman got some very nice changes, such as DW being 10 levels earlier and Lava Lash getting a significant buff. For whatever reason, though, they removed the prereqs for a bunch of things. Like you can get DW specialization without DW, and Imp Earth Shield without Earth Shield when neither talent gives anything if you don't have the originals.

Very little changed for Pallies and Rogues (I'm actually not even sure if the latter was changed at all, but I'm too lazy to check).

I'm gonna wait before I really think about the changes. Clearly a lot more will be made. Even trees that changed "a lot" are still relatively few and retain all the +% talents blizz said they were getting rid of.

Well I hope they do end up making Healing Touch a lot more attractive, or I'm missing out on Nature's Swiftness as well.

Revit. off of Regrowth and Lifebloom... hmmm... and it only affects you now...

It'll be interesting to see if there's enough health pool to make Crit more attractive healing-wise. They certainly have a lot of proc-on-crit kinds of talents there.

I'm so tempted to take solarbeam even for PvE. If I end up going 3/3 NS, that's going to be an awesome oh-**** button to ditch little adds. Especially since I won't be locked into the ToL-no-can-attack thingy. I wonder how much we'll be casting hibernate.

Boy it's hard to guess where you'll put points until you know just how mana-starved they are going to make you. Tranquil spirit vs Revitalize is going a tough call. Wonder how our spell mix will end up falling out.

I wonder if I'll end up like this. Well until they change it 10 more times before release...

ok, $10 says I'm spending the rest of the day nerding over this thing... Smiley: lol

Edit:

Hmm or maybe improved barkskin looks a lot more attractive now that we'll be spending more time in humanoid form. Maybe more like this, ooo this is too much fun! Smiley: rolleyes

I'm really happy with this tree. If they can accomplish their goal of keeping all the spells at least kinda balanced, we're going to have some interesting choices to make with talent points.

Solar Beam still looks amazingly overpowered for a talent that low in the balance tree...

It didn't seem like I'd be moving many points around in a tanking build, besides putting more points in the resto tree to grab the Naturalist thingy that moved...

Idig, the only thing changed on the dk stuff right now is the modifier for the strike damages. Most of them went up and they're including the snare from heart strike glyph right into the talent now.

Paladins I saw that swift retribution now gives you and anyone with your aura 20% haste.

And your mastery bonus depends on how many points you spend.

Hmmmm....Blessing of the Grove - 4% extra damage on an ability that I use once a minute if I don't have another kitty, bear tank or arms warrior..... - hope that changes during beta.

Other than that feral look pretty much the same as always. I'm sure there are massive changes coming to all the trees. A lot of the plain "damage increasing" talents are supposed to be rolled into the mastery bonuses so we can spend more of our points on "cooler" abilities. That certainly isn't how these are set up.

Oh well, at least it is something to keep us amused in the meantime :)

You know... i don't think I like the whole mastery thing.
I hope it doesn't have too much of an impact and that it won't lead to going 0/76/0 for mastery or similar scenario's.
I enjoy the playing with talent trees to see how much I can get out of multiple trees and the options, plus people dumping all their points into one tree because that's a cool tree currently allows me to mock them and reinforces my belief that I am in fact superior to other people, what will happen if that scenario is gone? The brainless aren't anywhere near as likely to spread out their points over 3 trees as just dumping them in every possible place in one tree.

Seriously, the artificial inflation of my e-peen is at stake here!

I THINK I recall them saying that it would have a point cap (so, like, mastery would stop increasing at point 50 or something), and I'm positive they said you only get one tree's. And they never said it's linear. So the 41-50 point mastery bonus may be higher, proportionally, than the 51-60 point mastery. I'm just curious as to what happens if you go halfsies--38/38. How do they determine your mastery? Glyph trees? Or do you just not get one?

But if you get proportional amounts of both, I could possibly see some hybrids getting a lot of love in PvP for these. Pallies, for instance, who get +Holy Damage (I think--for ret?) and +Crit Damage for a Ret/Holy. If they get both, it might work out to be way too unbalanced. I almost think you should get an extra point at cap and ONLY get mastery if all talents are spent.

Honestly, the idea of mastery is stupid if it scales per point, since you can't get multiple trees. I'm betting, come launch, it will be a flat % buff for whatever is your primary tree, regardless of number of points (though it would, of course, need to have the majority)

Mastery caps at 51 points in a tree if I recall from the recent class talk they did. Also from what I remember you only get Mastery from 1 tree.

As for the 38/38 question I have no idea. As from what I have seen from what they have said you only get a Mastery benefit from one tree.

I understood mastery to be you have certain 'tiers' in your talents, and if you take any point inside one of those tiers then mastery is improving that attribute. I may be wrong though.

From reading above it looks like mastery is going to make zero impact on making builds, if they'd cap it out at say... 70 points but at the same time allow you to get mastery from two trees it would make you think about putting a point in a mediocre talent in your main tree or putting that point in a good talent in your second tree.

I believe halfsies were responded to as "whichever tree you last put a point into breaks ties, stop trying to find an exploit and then whine when we won't let you have it."
