How much dps do you do in heroics?Follow

I usually pull high 3000s low 4000s dps in heroics. I don't use a stone because I figure it's not really needed. Just wondering, how much you guys do in heroics?

I see Warlocks doing low 4K to mid 5K DpS on Bosses, generally. Haven't seen one do less than 4K in a long time (and possibly never). Maybe I've only ever grouped with geared locks, but that seems unlikely.

Why wouldn't you use a stone? Because you are just SO starved for shards? I really hope you aren't Demo spec at least--4% crit or 7% Haste is quite a lot. Certainly a large enough boost you should use it in a Heroic, considering they're free and last an hour.

What spec are you?

I'm not starved for shards. I usually forget, and when I do remember, it's pretty late into the run and we're doing just fine anyway, so I don't really see the need.

I'm destro spec'd. I've never seen anyone do 5k in a heroic besides this one boomkin. Maybe I'm getting bad luck with dps in the random tool.

My Mage does 8-9K on Bosses in Heroics (CDs, ftw!). If I did less than 6K, I seriously f**ked up. I generally see Warriors, Hunters, Warlocks and Enhancement Shaman put out 5-6K or more as well.

As for overall DpS, Warriors, Locks, Boomkins, Rogues, Kitty Druids, and Mages should all have large numbers due to them having strong AoE DpS as well as ST DpS. Other classes surely fit in here too, and I'm just forgetting them.

The Warlocks I've run with in heroics either do excellent or horribad DPS. Seems like the golden middle road isn't available. Either they spam Seed of Corruption on everything, or they try to apply Curse of Agony to everything.

My record in a normal dungeon so far has been 1700 overall DPS (includes trash). My Warlock is level 77. Smiley: grin

In general, nothing lives long enough to use dps as a significant measure of a person's utility in a dungeon environment. I run as afflic and use the full rotation on bosses. But my dps will be artificially low because I may only get 1 tick of DS at the end, or there is a mechanic where I cannot fully dot the boss before he dies (I'm looking at you bosses who stun or transform you). Generally, you will shine if the dps around you suck. Now if you see someone who has done twice the damage at the end of the run, you are the one who sucks (by gear/spec/gems/glyphs).

Now when it comes to trash, I use SoC on groups greater than 3. With 3 mobs or less, I can cast corruption on each target and tab SB spam to keep corruption ticking on all 3 targets. This spreads the damage around in a less spikey way, uses much less mana and limits the chance of splash damage pulling aggro off mobs who may have joined the fight. With a tank methodically working through a dungeon, I can use corr/SB spam and a dark pact to get back to full after every pull and reset the life tap glyph.
