Didn't you have a disc healing forum post last weekend? You may want to consider that option. I think Shielding the group gives you a little more breathing room. No matter what the spec, run the dungeons where you don't have as much problem, even if that means non-heroic for a bit. Also, you could do heroic dungeons where you don't have as much problem, then work your way up to the random option.

Look at all your options for gear. There are badges, crafted items, BOE, rep, and dungeon rewards. If your guild does any runs, try to get in with them a bit. Basically, you have to work your way up. If you jump in over your head, it won't really do you any good.

The good news is, most of your problems are easily fixed. :) Just my 2 cents, of course.

1. You're a Holy Priest without Serendipity or Surge of Light. This is a bit like healing in Strength gear. As a Prot Warrior. Get both talents filled in on the double, and while you're at it, fill up Meditation. Once you have them, you want to build up 3 stacks of Serendipity, and you want to make sure you never miss a SoL proc (you can get add-ons to help with this).

2. Your mana pool and crit are both low for heroics. Crit is an important stat for Holy because it doubles as regen. IMO, you should be enchanting/gemming for nothing but intellect (int/spellpower in red slots) until you get better gear. Get rid of those Haste/Spirit gems. Eat for crit or spellpower.

3. Glyph of Renew is mathematically very meh. I'd replace that with Dispel, personally. PW:S is also a good choice even for Holy.

4. You're a tailor but you aren't wearing any crafted purples. Now that the cooldown on Moonshroud has been removed, it should be easier than ever to get some quick iLevel 200 pieces on.

5. Stop being a night elf.*

(I had to, it's in my contract.)

I do think both of you very much for the help. I will apply everything you both have said here. Also yes The Honorable Dadanox i did post last week about a Disc preist i still have him as well but mostly just to heal my little brothers warrior. This is mostly my brothers priest but he wanted me to post and see if he coudl get some help with his gear spec. Cant believe you remembered that i posted last week kinda strange. But I do think you both for the advice and I have already let him read this he as well say thank you guys.

As the warlock boards would say, "This was not in my contract!"

For once I agree with Teacake about going for spellpower (and int). If you're undergeared for heroics, you will NOT want to go haste or spirit. Spirit is good for holy priests, but it is pointless if your mana pool sucks in the first place. Haste is a complete luxury stat for a healer and it's the last thing you should be focusing on.

I'll also stress her first point again - you're missing two key talents there.

Regarding the third point; the glyph of Renew is a niche glyph that comes into play in encounters with constant heavy AOE damage you heal as holy. Think Festergut, Sindragosa, possibly Lich King. In those fights it may ocassionaly be worth glyping Renew and basically spamming it whenever you're not consciously healing people - this allows you to fulfill a druids role of walking HPp5 buff.

As well as your gear (which at it's current level will make healing harder) a lot will depend on the tanks gear and skill at keeping mobs off of other players, I had a tank once with 26k hp buffed and that took a lot of work even though my character is over-geared for heroics. Also try and keep an eye on your dps and ask them nicely to move if you see them standing in aoe which they could easily avoid.

Generally I start off with PoM on the tank and then put up a renew, make sure your unitframes show PoM in a way that lets you keep track of stacks and who it's on easily, recast it on your tank once it's finished it's duration. The only time I don't use PoM is when I know that noone other than the tank will take damage (which isn't often), it's a nice spell to cast and forget and helps keeping the rest of the group healed. Normally I find CoH to be enough to deal with aoe damage (you can always try standing midway between the tank and ranged and casting on yourself to try and heal the most people), sometimes I'll stick renew on the melee if I know they are likely to take damage (there's some mobs in HoL that whirlwind so I'll usually chuck a renew on the melee there to try and stop them dying).

Other than that I normally just cast FH on the tank and occasionally dps if I think a renew won't be enough to keep them alive. Don't forget binding heal if you take damage. If the tank has a mad dash ahead then I'll normally stick a shield on them as I'm running into range or pop guardian spirit if they are low enough that I think they might die before I can heal them up.

Also remember your cooldowns are there if needed, I generally forget divine hymn, but shadow fiend and hymn of hope are ones I'll often use to keep my mana up.

Since you are just gearing up, let the group know. The way that heroics go nowadays, the group throws caution to the wind in favor of speed. There are many things that a tank and dps can do to lessen the incoming damage, but with an overgeared healer, these will mostly be ignored.

Good advice has been given here, and while your spec leans far into throughput, I will point out that 3/3 Holy concentration is completely useless without Meditation.
