That depends whether you're in a PUG or guild raid though. No self-respecting rogue doesn't save his Vanish for the inevitable wipe in PUGs =P
When you use vanish depends on the fight.
In a 5 minutes fight, I would use it when Heroism is used.
In a 6 Minute fight I would use it when Heroism is used.
In a 7 Minute fight I would use it on CD to get 2 Vanishes in.
Etc... Since as Muti we have a 3 minute Vanish CD, use your brain.
