I always thought that as my GS went up I would see a significant rise in my HP. Since hitting 5100GS I'm still only sitting at 36,000HP in bear form. I see warriors and paladins at the same GS as me with 40,000HP. When I gem/enchant I tend to go 50/50 on agility and stamina. My shoulder/head/leg/bracer enchants are ALL stamina and I have the black heart HP trinket.

My current stats are:

Armor: 66.51% mitigation
Dodge: 45.17%
Crit: 50.67%
Attack: 6274
Hit: 11.8% <-- Too high but I'm not gemmed or enchanted for it.
Exp: 10% <-- Again, not gemmed or enchanted for.

My gems are strictly +24Stam and +16 Agi.

Should I focus more on stamina gems and be more of an HP soak?

In a word, yes.

If you want to get red socket bonuses, use Shifting Dreadstones, but if you're not going for the bonus then 30 stam is the winner in virtually all of ICC.

Is this simply because of the -20% dodge or more of a new issue that mitigation is worth nothing?

No, it would mainly be because you want around 50k HP or more for ICC after the 1st 4 bosses.

Avoidance is still good, mitigation is still good.

Because healer mana is infinite more HP will always work. So you focus on HP as it is easy and will always work.

Yeah, the infinite mana situation for healers removed the whole "pissing in a swimming pool" issue of TBC, so "more stamina" is the new solution to every problem.

The main reason that Stam>Agi in ICC is that most tanks deal some form of magic damage. Since dodge/armor/Savage Defence is worthless against that kind of damage, stam wins. And it's 8 am I am going to seleep.

I see some healers go oom on the end bosses in the upper wings, so I'd say once you crack 55k health, start to focus again on agility. But definitely get it up there.

This was definitely true for us the other night on Sindragosa 10 man. But that is because of raid damage, not tank damage. Casting WG, rejuv, rejuv, rejuv, rejuv, rejuv (repeat) non stop for the entire fight really drains my mana quickly. Even with 2 innervates I was getting low when we finally downed the boss. Having said that, my healing gear is not as good as my feral gear (5200 GS vs 5800 GS - and yes GS is BADSmiley: smile)

I'm curious, though, if any bears agree with me on this. I mean, I could probably regem and get myself to 63-65k health just w my icc10 gear. But I don't think that necessarily helps. It's not hard to keep me alive with 55k health and the additional avoidance and, also important, threat, allows our healers to focus on raid and our dps to down bosses faster. Looking at other bears I seem to be in the minority in this and maybe it's just a stubborn holdover from TBC tanking.

I'm still using mostly Shifting gems, JC one's are Stam though. Enchants are also heavily into Agility as well.

I have a bit over 50k in 10 man's it seems to be 'enough' the added Agi/Crit is nice as well. Moar DPS is fun.

You should note that they stated above 50k was needed for the upper ends. If you are sitting at 60k+ hp, I would start regemming a little for extra agility.

Currently I sit around 56k+ fully buffed for 25's on my druid tank, but I am only wearing one stam trinket, my other one is the dodge trinket from the 25 man boat fight. If I was using both stamina trinkets I would be at about 60k life. I am also just a touch away from my 4 piece t10, so will be dropping more hp for the additional damage reduction CD on some fights (I have the crafted legs that I will be dropping for 264 t10 legs once I get the fourth piece, dropping stamina there).

Long story short, once you get above a certain point, you want to start focusing on agility, armor and the like.

I am sorry for the necro, patch day and I generally don't read the druid thread. With the message being down just a little, thought that it was still recent. My apologies.

I've got the same problem. With T9, stamina gems and even two ilvl 200 trinkets for more stamina (Black Heart and Brewfest crap), I'm at barely 42,000 unbuffed, with a 5k GearScore.
